I’ve been watching his vlog for the first time and, to be honest, I’m not impressed with his play.

I’m not saying I’m better than him by any means but it seems like he either just doesn’t care anymore and wants to gamble for the sake of gambling or he’s trying too hard to push micro edge type situations rather than waiting for a better spot.

I know at the high buyins, the players are typically much better so taking every small +EV spot you get becomes more important but he seems to be pushing that even at $1500s.

I also know players probably play differently against him given his poker celebrity status but again, he seems to just go for it too much.

I think that explains his more recent results of frequent losses with an occasional bink.

no opinion on his play, but failing to follow his own plan regarding the tournaments he was going to play hasn't been working out to well. he'd been droning on for months that he wasn't going to jump into smaller tournaments, especially after busting big ones, but that's exactly what he did after firing 2 bullets into the sun in the 25k.

it really seems like he has no one in his life to tell him that he might need to press pause every now and again.

really dig the vlog though

He's a degen plain and simple who ran extremely well in the beginning. If it weren't for his sponsors and marketability he may have gone busto a long time ago.

While Daniel is well down so far at the WSOP, he does have five 6-figure scores in 2024, 5 more in 2023, and 6 of them in 2022 that include a $3 million win. So while down, he's hardly being wiped out overall.

Not sure how fair this is. He's basically was an old school poker hustler who is extremely good at the soft skills in live poker.

It's easy to be super motivated when you're playing to pay the bills.

It's way different when you're rich, crushing life with a fat endorsement deal. Like yea he wants to win but he doesn't want to put a lot of work into it and I don't really blame him.

Maybe he would just be another burnout like Mike Matusow if he didn't have the endorsement money but his entire approach to poker would be different.

These vlogs and firing a bunch of events help with his marketing.

I like and enjoy DNegs

Some mix narcissism/contracts keeps him going, and I'm all for it!

Matusow is lazy, way worse at poker than DN and not particularly likeable.

DN would've 100% found his way in super soft private games/backing and done fine without sponsorships.

He still puts out plenty of content and even though it's mostly driven by ego I'd watch DN punt a buy in any day over some scarf-wearing Euro who takes 15 sec to fold a hand preflop

tend to agree with him still crushing in private games without the sponsorship money he was doing extremely well against doug in the hu challenge considering he is basically an online whale(also ironic that nlhe should be his best game by far but he thinks its plo lol)

Would bet there’s no private game money. He’s not a crusher, just a good ambassador for the game, smart getting sponsorship money.

Has a good agent. Brian got him nice gigs.

Also don’t forget he has a big bag of btc, got in probably 4-5yrs ago like most poker regs.

Just btc port alone is set for life.

People are looking @ this the wrong way. Just Imagine it's a reality show where a famous amateur youtuber is given unlimited entries and lifestyle budget to win a wsop bracelet.

How hard is it really? Obviously, pretty difficult. Luck would dictate by accident he might win one but clearly throwing rushed entries and spewy plays gets you nowhere.

I can't wait to see how many more years he can go winless despite having the best possible chance in the whole world.

16 years and counting in Vegas. Here's to a "Doyle Brunson's lifetime" of spent bullets and min cashes!

Whats the old saying, "show me your friends and I can....blah blah blah"

I agree that he is a pretty good ambassador, better than Helmuth imo, however there is something that seems off when it comes to relating to him, even during the stages when he was supposedly grinding.

If we had more knowledge and stories from the likes of Doyle and the rounders a generation or two before Negreanu. I bet he wouldn't be mentioned at all because he was not with them or friends with them, but spending time around them in tourney's etc.

I imagine something like a spectrum of people that are likely outcasted while being popular, and I see Helmuth on one side of it and Negreanu on the other.

Wasn't he some kind of billiards player and that funded his poker in the start?

If I was a richer man I'd make a big bet that Dnegs never wins a bracelet as long as he vlogs at wsop.

As a side note, can't stand his vlogs this year. Cares WAY too much about himself/house/what he wears than poker.

Content is nut low.

Yeah I fastforward through all of his house and pet segments, but at least the fantasy hockey segments are no longer a thing.

Daniel IMO is a great ambassador for poker. Amazing that he's still grinding (even if for all the wrong reasons).

I'm really rooting for him to finally get the monkey off his back and win another bracelet. The vlog would be epic.

I like the vlogs. I skip through the parts that feel like paid product placement, which is more this year.

The poker content is interesting. I don't play the mixed games, so can't offer any critiques on his play. It gives me a WSOP fix while I'm away though.

Don't know enough about Daniel to say which game is his best, but kind of feels like it might be NLHE even though he seems to want it to be almost anything else. Good results in some of the high rollers. Super deep runs in the Gladiators last year and the $500 this year. Even after all the coaching and advances in theory, there are still a lot of people at the table in NLHE just giving chips away. He must have a big edge in most NLHE fields. Can understand being bored of the variant though. I'm getting there myself.

I think he'll win a bracelet eventually. I reflect back on the $50k PLO a few years ago where he was three-handed with Hellmuth and Ausmus. If memory serves me correctly, Phil sucked out on him for all the chips and then handed the bracelet to Jeremy by making a crazy nitty fold with two pair when he was good. If Daniel holds there, decent chance he wins the event. That he hasn't closed one out in a while suggests his edge might be lower than the Ariehs, Deebs, and Seivers of the world, but if you get to final tables enough, you should sun run one eventually. Gotta believe he has run below expectation in these spots overall, regardless of exactly how good he may or may not be.

I hope he gets another one. He's more likable than not, IMO. When you put yourself front and center, you are going to be magnet for adoration...and criticism.

It would be interesting to see 'all' of his hands .. I think he may be getting bluffed a lot more than we would like him to be. I also don't like that he's always talking about 'playing good' or 'extra focused' this time, or this (last) bullet. That lends itself to him being distracted, tired, unmotivated, uncaring or whatever may take a human off center.

He is undoubtably an advanced Player, but does he really need to 'have a plan' or can he just go out there and let his natural talent take him farther? Granted every opponent is different, but there's a lot of times that I try to set a hand up a certain way and it's just too fancy for the opponent and they just can't see/feel the flow of the hand the way I want them to.

Going full out may not be possible in today's poker world, too many decent Players out there to keep others in check when hand flow doesn't make sense. GL

I think he has a decent chance at winning another one, but I agree with the vlogs. The first 10-15 minutes are like a reality TV show. We all know he's rich and has a crazy good lifestyle. No need to let us know again and again. We must be in the minority there because he gets lots of views. Maybe people just skip to the actual WSOP parts like I do if I decide to watch an episode?

Yesterday's blog is titled "My Best Game - PLO". Its been a year since his last vlogs so I was ready to give him some slack, maybe he has played some more PLO and actually plays it better now.

Then the very first hand history he plays JJTT terribly and his analysis is straight up bad. Is no one in his circle giving him any pointers in this game? Its quite baffling how someone who is at his level in the poker ecosystem doesnt have people to discuss hands with that would lead him to improve. Either

Matusow said it best when he told Daniel its his worst ****ing game

by Kebabkungen k

Every poker play I know has a group of poker playing friends that discuss hands and strategies to help each other improve. Daniel is obviously friendly with loads of people that are very good at various games - at least when showing up in his vlogs a lot of very good players seem to act as if they are his friends. But if none of them are willing to point out obvious flaws like in his PLO game that has to mean one of two things:

1. Daniel is too arrogant to bother discussing hands with fellow pros

2 is absolutely true. They put up with his vlog nonsense and drunk Daniel because he's one of the softest spots

Counting down to highlight of the summer when Dnegs is annoyingly drunk.

Also lol @ Amanda in newest vlog. The fakest abs ever on full display, while claiming that her new trunk is not the result of a Brazilian butt lift. This is just like the obvious roidheads who keep claiming they are "natty" on social media. Who are they fooling? Why bother? Tons of people have work done, just admit it. Its such a bad thing for people with eating disorders and self-image issues (especially women) when people who are exposed in social media pretend that they can get such results n

Holy **** the ab implants! lmao I believed you but didn't quite expect it to be so outrageous

Daniel dominating low stakes tournament again... 145 left /3,351 in the $600 PLO/NLH

What video is the ab implants and at what time?

He needs to get back that hunger from when he was a nobody. He needs to channel that "cup boy" mentality again.

Agree. I'm not a Negreanu fan nor hater (as I've probably noted 90 times in this thread) but I do want to see him win another one, if for no other reason than to piss off a third of the posters here.

...and best yet, this would be the next video after such a win.
