What's the deal with accusations made about Anthony Zinno at Wynn/Encore at WPT December 2023?
Was listening to Only Friends Podcast Episode #443 and at approximately 16:52 an accusation is made about Anthony Zinno.
I'm having a hard time believing the accusation made, that Zinno took some dude named Corel's backpack during batting up of a 3k at Encore during WPT.
Does anyone have additional information or context?
Well, I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader as to who is having a hissy fit. And your quote was "Lol yeah I’m sure a lawyer was running around asking for money to help pay that 3K buyin".

I stick to my assessment that the probability was high he had most if not all of himself in that. But it’s been noted from Captain Obvious that it’s not guaranteed, thanks!
Not to get involved here, but is AZ still a practicing attorney? Or like others, has a law school degree (debt), but either really never practiced law or gave it up altogether to play poker. If poker is just a side hustle to his main attorney work, SODR is right he’s probably not scrounging around for stakes. But if he just has a law degree but really isn’t practicing but rather just playing poker, well, he might not be on the lawyer gravy train.

Well a 10 second scan of his Hendon indicates he's basically playing full time so yes, based on your analysis as well as most rationale people in similar earning professions, $3k of post tax money is far from a drop in the bucket.

He was part timing and then once winning three WPTs or whatever in a year he presumably went into poker full time.
I mean it’s not like a $60 daily at Westgate but 3K isn’t a lot for a semi annual WPT and there were super soft 1 in 5 satellites all time too
Geez Scotch is really a great poster on here, possibly the best since stealthmunk, action Jeff, and bruiser500 are long gone. Here I thought he was a nitwit from jerkwater, US in some flyover state who didn’t know how security clearances worked, instead he puts all the windowlickers on here in place while only drinking socially, a true hero.

Thanks man, one day envision myself being talked about like Roy Hobbs, “there goes SODR, the best there ever was.” But I do enjoy taking these guys on, and breaking them.
I just came back to this thread and saw all your snappy responses. You are one clever guy, and I'm sure that makes you feel good. If no one ever told you before, you are one great keyboard warrior. Congrats on that. Waiting anxiously for your awesome response!
How'd he get temp-banned??? How do so many ppl get banned on here I feel like I've been ool at times but most Ive got was an infraction... It seems like a real head scratcher they'd temp ban one of their top contributors day in and day out going back years, even if he seemingly is telling inside jokes with himself in a lot of comments. Maybe that last part was me projecting 🙂
I think you are missing the point as you appear to be the only one who thinks leaving 20K in chips on table is same as leaving 20K in cash in a duffel bag under the table
These things are not even remotely the same
LOL that you think I said that.
I just pointed out they are same for getting some of it stolen. In fact, stealing a bag under the table is more likely to be reported than stealing a few hundred off of the tabled amount which probably won't even be noticed.
My point was victim shaming doesn't work in this case .
He said, she said case. To me, there's no solid evidence that Zinno did anything wrong.
There is enough solid evidence that, after reviewing the security footage, the responding officer filed a police report alleging criminal behavior. That is not he said/she said. Perhaps you meant to say “there’s no definitive proof”? What evidence would you like to see in order for it to qualify as “solid”? Video of him reaching into the bag, removing stacks of bills, and putting them into his pocket? The guy was captured on video walking past security guards while exiting the casino with the other dude’s backpack. That is some solid evidence right there.

Always handy to have a burner account for when your primary one gets temp-banned. With any luck the mods will see the light of day and make it a perma ban.

My guess is the constant flame wars, insults and trolling in pretty much every post.

Regardless, we know the bag had value in it, at least 1k, upon return. What we don’t know is how much money was in it when it left the room. I don’t know why we should believe the guy that took the thing of value from the room without reporting it to security over the guy who claims it had more money in it.

Completely agree. Even if he had no idea at all what was in the bag, leaving the casino with it rather than turning it in to security is wrong, and it damages his credibility when it comes to his explanations for his actions.
You mean he did nothing wrong besides take a bag that was not his off property?
That is pretty solid supported by all if the evidence presented so far.
You think someone should leave a bag under a seat at a table with nobody there and the room clearing out when the tourney is over for the day, because it's not their propery? That doesn't make sense. He took the bag, then brought it to lost and found. There's no evidence that the bag contained more money than was there when it was returned. It might have, but it also might not have.
Lots of speculation in the thread being passed off as something that it's not.

Yea that's what happens when you take a bag from a place where there are hundreds of cameras to a place where there are 0 for absolutely no honest reason.
Right, having to take a leak at the end of day’s play and bag-n-tag is “absolutely no honest reason”….
I was at this event, found some airpods on the couches after end of day and within 10 seconds could find a staff member where I was able to return the lost property. It was extremely easy to return lost property without taking it into the toilets, or leaving the encore ballroom which is like a maze and you go past dozens of staff while getting out of there. Of course there is non zero chance no theft occurred but story sounds extremely suspicious at the least.
Yeah. If you're ever done card counting or whatever you know the BR is the one place you can escape surveillance.
How often does one have a true emergency where they must head straight to the BR?

It's not.
He could have given the bag to the dealer or floor then took a leak. It's hilarious people act like he took it to the bathroom for any reason but to look through it for valuables.
