What's the deal with accusations made about Anthony Zinno at Wynn/Encore at WPT December 2023?

I observed the surveillance footage where in the video a white male adult matching the description of Zinno was seen at the poker table next to where the victim was playing. The victim gets up and leaves as the room empties due to the poker tournament ending. He leaves the bag under the table exited the room. Zinno then walks over and grabs the bag. Zinno walks quickly passing several security guards and exited the casino in a Lyft ride.

^This officer is pretty clear on what happened and there was no bathroom involved. I think that was just someone on twitter reporting secondhand what the casino had said about their footage

So if he never took it to the bathroom does it look better or worse for him that he just left with it?

Anything other than immediately giving the bag to security or other staff is sketchy. He had several opportunities, but in his own words he was going to work on finding the owner himself.

People that post that we will never know if any money was stolen need to use their critical thinking skills. We will often have incomplete information requiring the use of circumstantial evidence to infer what happened. In this case Zinno taking the bag off-site is what makes me highly suspicious of his intentions. He knows cameras would record this so he brings the bag back with a sus story knowing the owner would never be able to prove how much money was in the bag.

I am guessing nothing will come of this (police have difficulty with even basic cases and this case will be a very low priority) so mission accomplished for Zinno. He is $19k richer and still has defenders in the community claiming we should not assume guilt unless we have video of him taking stacks from the bag and transferring them to his pocket.

I don't think he'll end up getting arrested unless Wynn has video of this guy putting in a lot more than 1k in the bag before he leaves it under the table.

He'll probably stay banned from the Wynn and he's ruined an otherwise good reputation in the poker world.
How much that effects him who knows- but I think a lot of poker players will look at straight up stealing as a lot worse than someone borrowing money and dragging their feet on paying it back.

Still lacking clarity on a) whether he took bag into bathroom, b) what time he brought bag to security at Wynn/Encore, c) whether Corel saw him "cuffed" at security at Wynn/Encore, or at LVMPD, and d) if a court appearance to address the charges has been set.

We are not very good as a community holding people accountable for bad behavior. My guess is 99% of players are unaware of this incident and a portion of the 1% who are aware think the evidence is not sufficient to make a judgement.

I do not like the thought that any accusation should result in immediate blacklisting, but we need to do better about shaming when the evidence supports a conclusion of guilt if we are ever going to reduce bad behavior like this. That said, we play a game that revolves around taking other people's money and sometimes that seems to push people to do that in illegal and immoral ways.

For one, I didn't say that nor think it. For two, you are committing a fallacy of false choice. There are other options besides leaving an unknown backpack behind and leaving the property with an unknown backpack.

Saw this on X. Apparently Zinno is being sued by Bank Of America for unpaid debt in case active as of January 2024. Clearly shows that he was struggling financially. Provides possible motive for the theft.

I actually grew up with Anthony. He lived on street behind me and his mom would occasionally give us rides home from school. We loved playing Magic cards & Quake in the computer lab.

I knew he became a successful poker player, but I haven’t seen him in probably 25 years now.

I was just googling old classmates out of boredom and saw this news. Why I just made this account. This is so highly out of character for him if it was true. He was good kid and friendly to everyone. I hope he didn’t develop some issue that led to this. What a shame. He also came from a well to do family.

The story kind of died. Swept under the rug. It was funny when Negraneu saw him in the hall during WSOP in one of his videos and said something like "don't leave your backpack" as he walked by him lol

Zinno made a deep run in Day 2 of 50k PLO but unfortunately couldn't find a bag for Day 3.
