Nacho Barbero uses GTO Wizard while playing on ACR
He foolishly posts to social media:
He later claims he didn't know using GTO wizard while playing was against the rules.
When they say ' he wasn't using it to gain an advantage for himself '
He himself said he was coaching 4 horses at the time who don't have gto wizard, so if someone else is gaining an advantage that he profits from, that is ok ?
Do we know yet if the horses had extra SNGs open to negate their advantage?
While I would be willing to agree with the only possible outcome of this incident (which will 100% result in a conclusion that no cheating occured), this raises a serious concern about the game integrity online. Poker (esp online) is dying fast af and the morons running ACR are willing to additionally ruin the already decaying game with such an unprofessional and foolish... statement
I've been on hiatus since 2020 even up til now I haven't officially play a single hand yet. I'm just setting things up and studying to catch up with the game. But damn I've seen few cheating threads, let me tell ya, I'm bit shaken and concerned. I'm sure there are thousands like myself who are trying get back to the game. Ngl, it makes me questioning my commitment to come back.
This means exactly nothing. He has gtowizard open, while playing tournaments, seemingly using it at the same time he is playing. Whether someone is cheating “incorrectly” or not is irrelevant. It’s still cheating.
I agree with the rest. Anything but banning him will look awful for ACR.
With that being said. People are stupid and suspending him or not won’t do ****. ACR has had scandal after scandal after scandal and people STILL play there.
They say they will deal with it in stronger terms than if it was ordinary players so result should be 1) sacked and 2) money confiscated. I remember them doing this to others regularly.
Additionally whoever put out the original response needs serious re-education in PR.
Ordinary players have got banned with confiscation for just this.
You would at least use 2 monitors not play tables that cover the sim. When using gotwizard you need to click throw the sim for every solution make it very slow and limiting you to one table. RTA programs read live action on the tables and just spit out solution for exact spot automatically.
Nacho is an elite player, he doesn't need to RTA every single hand. He can just use it when he is in a tough spot or at final tables where EV is the highest.
I think that this tweet was put out sort of as an example of what a reasonable statement would've looked like. I doubt that pads in his ambassador role has the access to all the necessary resources in order to be able to conduct a thorough investigation on his own.
As I said in my initial post, I highly doubt that any investigation that will eventually take place result in any bans/sackings/confiscated funds. It should (because as you stated if a non-ACR teampro player is caught in the same situation it will result in ban/fund confiscation), and perhaps if it gains a little more attention in the poker media it might happen.How ACR handles this will be interesting as it will say a lot on how significant game integrity is for them, but my bet is that this will all just be forgotten about in no longer than a month with no real resolution/consequences.

It's actually very easy to proof whether or not he was cheating. He or gtowizard can provide them with his browser history and they can see

2.Is he looking Sims of the hands he plays at the same time

You work for them? Can you offer ACR to look at his gto wizard account history alongside with hh provided by ACR?
I do not care if cheating actually took place and HHs match with any GTOw logs/timestamps, any decision other than suspending Nacho for this incident would mean that online poker providers do not GAF about their ambassadors breaking the rules of the site that they represent. This will consequently raise a question whether ACR cares about protecting the game integrity at all.
It sets a precedent in the industry, the poker community has already shown a disdain for the kinds of responses these companies and their ambassadors give during times of crisis. Anytime ACR or GG has to address something like this they just fall short. They need to do the right thing regardless of what that means for the parties involved so they can earn the community trust back.
Nacho's official defense is that he wasn't playing but was live coaching students and running sims for them, which to me is just as bad or worse.

Coaching in real time during an MTT is cheating IMO. Doesn’t matter if it’s before, during, or after a hand.
During a hand is obviously worse, but before/after a hand is still helping someone adjust to specific circumstances during an ongoing tournament. This is why solvers should not be allowed on the rail or anywhere in the tournament area at live MTTs.
The only time it’s fair game is when a horse/player isn’t sitting in an MTT.
Why is Pads always defending cheaters?

They’re already clearing him before the investigation and promising he’ll be back in days or at worst weeks. What a total joke.

What a slap in the face. Let me get this right, ACR response is basically Nacho is just a great guy, everyone loves him. No big deal, just ha ha ha.
However, if I did this my funds would be confiscated and I would be banned. Got it.
As i read posts here idk im speechless every post is like how ACR should ban that guy to save reputation so after that people will be happy and everything will be fine?
I mean that guy accidentally leaked his screen and exposed himself but what about other pros who aren’t stupid enough to do such thing? They will be cheating and no one will ever know…
So other guys now will be even cautious to not expose themselves, i see bigger problem here, Nacho might be the guy who never actually cheated and just had GTO wizard open during the session yeah might be but there can be other sharks sitting quietly now who are actually really cheating
You shouldn’t be afraid of a guy who accidentally leaks something, it’s more likely he’s careless because he never cheated, im more afraid of guys who never leak anything because real cheaters are well aware of consequences
