New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Both of these are hyper local chains, at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Going by taste, BK has anything at innout beat imo. I'd rather a whopper with cheese than a double double, as controversial as that take may be.

Also bks fries are 98x better than in n o

Hyper local? Aren't they in about half the states?

Eight so far according to their website, for in n out, including one location states. Whataburger somehow has 14 states, which is basically 50% of the states. 700+ locations in texas.

Let me remind you we have 50 states.

Whoever posted that BK meat is shoe leather compared to bk is either a master troll or an expert in shoe leather taste.

I never was like, mmm that beef, when I had in n out.

so PIGFORBILL, regarding your statement ITT that INNO and whatburger have stores in half the states, of the USA, (physical) is not only incorrect, I'm wondering why you would even submit such a hypothesis?

8/50 and 14/50 = about 1/2 the states in the usa

tks for confirming that the TB Cheez-it stuff is a joke

what genius thought that menu was a good idea?

Every time I think about trying it out, I don’t.

In-N-Out is god tier drive-thru when you're hungry AF.

$7 medium big Mac meal in app, replacing the $6 daily double/mcdouble meal.

The $5 meal deal at McDonald's is a nice value.
No app needed.

Dang, forgot about that. Will have to check and see if we have that deal in Seattle. Between cost of living and minimum wage, I'd be dang surprised to see it available.

Meanwhile tempted to grind out another couple free habit burgers.

IMO innout is the goat hungry on a road trip trip and see the sign that there’s one at the next exit hell yeah. Or maybe late after the game/concert.

But just everyday lunch around town, meh.

In and out would be better if they seasoned any of their offerings.

Tried out the Triple Berry Frosty and holy cow is it Berry infused flavor. Glad I tried it out but I prefer the regular frosty.

I'd go Orange Creamsicle >> Regular > Triple Berry

I didn’t notice any extra infusion in mine but no question the orange is better as is Arbys orange which is no longer on the board but still available.

lol

So this proves what we already know, which is nothing.

I think it proves that if you want a heaping bowl at Chipotle, it's dependent on the user. The workers do what you tell them.

The fact that FF / FF Casual workers do not typically give a **** about their job and/or the customer is nothing new.

I've found being extra nice with please/s and thank you/s gets me a good sized bowl at Chipotle. YMMV

Courtesy goes a long way.

So does crapping yourself after eating Chipotle. YMMV

Yep and yep (lolol McLovin)

Which also follows: If you care about the bowl size, never mobile order it.

I learned that lesson the hard way. Never ever ever mobile order to pickup your bowl.

I got a bowl so badly made that it became legendary in this thread when they offered me 1 free entree as compensation. I declined their compensation, saying it wasn't enough to appease my dissatisfaction and they sent me 2 free entree cards lmao.

more like S**Tpotle amirite?

speaking of other s**t inducing FF...TB finally has found its way back to the people living in valuetown with this new combo deal today:

LUXE cravings box ($7 here). u get:

- beef chalupa
- 5 layer burrito
- double stacker taco
- chips and cheese (included for a change instead of charging the bs $.50 to upgrade from the crappy cinnamon twists)
- medium drink

That's more like it TB, keep up the good work

Looks like the median is 22oz, or about 1.5lbs

Aligns with my experience

Redeemed another free charburg with cheese. No issues making it a double, the coupon is a standard $6.80 off

So much better than the single char

Two more days left on the remaining coupons

Edit: this pertains to burritos, not bowls. Chipotle has been kind as far as closing time chicken in burrito orders

I gorged myself on Whopper Wednesday. BK push-notified me that I had 2900 crowns that will expire Monday; I was trying to decide where to go for dinner anyway so that choice was easy. I used 700, and will get there one more time this weekend, probably to spend 1400 on a bacon king or double whopper. It's like a 15+minute drive so don't think I'll squeeze it in twice in three days, so will eat the loss.

Whopper ($3 with deal): Always love a whopper, this was no exception. Damn fine fast food burger.
Duo Wrap Combo ($7.99): Two Royal Crispy Wraps (I chose 1 spicy 1 LTO Philly, which includes swiss + grilled onions & peppers), small fries and small drink. The wraps were fine, peppers and onions were actually pretty tasty in the philly one. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the fries - they were very potato-y, way more so than McDs and a little more so than Wendy's. I almost always go o-rings at BK but this made me consider if I'm making the wrong choice. I'll probably flip a coin in the future. For drink I did a cream soda diet/zero, cant' remember if it was Barq's or A&W. It didn't taste very good, but not shocking. Will stick with zero root beer next time, which I like a lot.

8-piece Mozzarella Fries (700 crown points): These looked pretty bad coming out of the box, like they had been overcooked, but they tasted very good. Good seasoning. They're not hot out of the fryer so straight-up I guess you can't say you'd take these over a sit-down order of mozz sticks; but, I think I'd take these for $4 instead of sit-down for $10+. The guy also mistakenly gave me cups of buffalo sauce instead of marinara, which surprisingly ended up working pretty well.

Ambiance: I ate in the BK because I was hungry, first time I think doing so. There was a legitimate small swarm of flies energetically buzzing around a table in the middle of the restaurant, I'd say at least 10 of them. Fortunately they didn't seem to venture anywhere else, including none near my table, so that was nice. However once I noticed them it did drag down the experience a notch. Also, along with 2 or 3 uber eats drivers picking up food there was one other small family eating inside with me. The woman was probably 250-275 lbs, and dressed in skin-tight biker shorts and a crop top. She was FURIOUS with the BK employee who told her that she had ordered a Impossible Whopper and wouldn't let her have a regular whopper instead. She returned multiple times to the counter to interchangeably beg and yell with the employee showing that the offer was for a Impossible OR Regular Whopper, and she wanted the regular. The cashier was straight up not having it. I felt pretty bad for her, because a) I'm 95% sure she was correct, because I had noticed myself that the Whopper Wednesday deal was for either one, and I'm pretty sure the cashier just rang it up wrong causing the kitchen to make the Impossible one; and b) I got the sense that money was pretty tight and she wasn't in a spot to just plop down $7 more for a original whopper. I really wish the employee had just given her a regular one and ate the $1.50 COGS hit for BK, but I also get the feeling that manager must be hounding the employees about waste/shrink (I saw him refuse to remake a sandwich for another customer who forgot to say no tomato). There were no winners here. Anyway I think I'm going to stick to drive through going forward.

Jack in the box is better than in and out

BK has Halfsies - half fries/half rings (think JITB Frings if that's still a thing) so you don't have to decide which you would prefer.

That said, I was tasting those rings I had Wednesday the rest of the day and well into the evening. And not in a good way.

Went to Church's last night, since I was in its neighborhood. It was fine. Nice to see they renovated since my last trip.

Got the two-piece meal, which is shown as drumstick and thigh. Asked if they had a white-meat option, he said sure. But, they didn't have any wings just then; would two breasts be ok?

Why, yes. Yes, it would.
