New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Brag: Free bowl at Teriyaki Madness
Beat: Had only ordered a regular, as I'm not a big eater anymore
Variance: Seemed like the terminal froze up when the cashier was trying to enter the coupon I brought. After a few minutes, she said she wasn't going to deal with it and told me this one was on the house.
Pretty good FF stuff. Teriyaki sauce has a nice, not overpowering flavor. Chicken charred but not burnt, tender inside.
Something different than my normal burrito/whatever, on the rare occasion I don't eat at home.
Was entering a date code and I noticed it's 7/11 today, and it occurred to me I haven't had a Slurpee since the 1990s, I don't think. Might go get one today since they're free and all.
Free Coca-Cola Slurpee acquired. They had a bunch of cups and lids all made up because they knew people would be pouring in.
BK getting in on the $5 meal deal. At least there's options on the cheap side. Wendy's still champs
collectible slurpee cups is the purest nostalgia
I got one of the Mickey's $5 deals. Their normal prices get you a McDouble and small fries and that's about it. It's basically like free drink and free nuggets.
On the way home from a work trip in SoCal, I decided to try a chain I've never been to before: Farmer Boys. I checked the website ahead of time, and went in planning to grab a farmer burger - double cheeseburger with bacon avacado and 1000 island. When I arrived, I discovered that burgers ranged from $9.99 (single 1/4 with cheese) to $12.99 (farmer burger), with + $6.49 for fries and a drink. But, they had a special going for a double cheeseburger with fried onions and bbq sauce, plus fries and a drink for $11.99 total. Even with the company picking up the tab, I couldn't justify spending $8 more for the farmer version of this meal, so went for fried onions and bbq sauce.
The burger was pretty great! Beefy, obviously hot off the grill. Two kinds of melty cheese. And, very filling - didn't quite look like 1/4 patties/a 1/2 pound burger for some reason, but it ate like one. Enjoyed the heck out of it. For the fries, I originally thought the portion looked a little skimpy, but they tasted like good, frozen fries fried well. Certainly nothing you haven't had before, but good, classic fries. Once I finished the meal, I was pleasantly full.
However, wanting to go big given who knows when I'll ever get back, I also threw on a Fiery Fried Chicken Sandwich ($11.99). This thing looked, well, pretty bad, really. My first thought on seeing it was "high school cafeteria chicken sandwich". (Sorry, didn't realize it was so blurry in the pic.) The first bite was also underwhelming, but I think that was influenced by the visual impression. I did end up thinking the spicy sauce was pretty tasty (if not at all spicy). And, after thinking at first I'd throw away most of it, it was good enough I ended up eating it all, then feeling overstuffed and like **** for an hour after.
Overall, I'm very happy to have tried it. The $12 burger/fries/drink deal I got was very tasty, and sadly can't be said to be too out of line price wise given a non-discounted big mac meal runs about the same now. $12 for the burger + $6.50 for the sides/drink is pretty darn expensive still, though. If I did go back I think I'd stick to the beef side of the menu (and I'm sure I'd try their pastrami sandwich ($15.99) sometime if I was a local). That said, next time I'm in SoCal I'd hit In n Out before Farmer Boys, no question.

Your call is important to us!
Farmer Boys is a good option! Another couple local fast food chains that are awesome is California Fish Grill and Rubios. Many outlets around Southern California.
I think we had rubios in vegas when I lived there 10 years ago? Or at least I know I've had it multiple times visiting SD in that time frame. I know I used to like it a lot, but I can't really remember much about it now.

Today only, McDonalds is giving away a free large fries in app! No purchase necessary.
Been on the road, had a chance to get some stuff I can't normally.
Tried Zaxby's the other night. Meh. Wings were very dry, as if they'd been sitting under a heat lamp. chicken finger and fries were good. Seemed like a Cane's with more, but worse, options.
Got Bojangle's a couple nights ago. Decent FF chicken. Moist meat, nice breading. Better than KFC by a mile.

I agree on Zaxby's. A lot of people around here love them. I don't understand it. I don't totally get Cane's either.
I haven't had Bojangle's in a while. Not even sure where the nearest one is.
Wienerschnitzel having 4 chili dogs for $4 on Wednesday, National Hot Dog Day.
BWW has AYCE boneless wings and fries for $19.99 for a while.
I went yesterday. And like all AYCEs, it was a mistake.
i'd rather do bogo thrusdays
Gotta get the steak biscuit at Bojangles!
I'm a dum-ass. Forgot to mention that deal is only Mondays and Wednesdays.
RBK,
I think about value constantly at any AYCE, and as a result I eat beyond the point of being comfortably full. The quality was fine, although they skimped on the Blazin' sauce.
Jitb free wrap with $1 purchase plus Jack's big meal deal. Ready when I got there except they tried to stiff me in the drink. Total $5 plus tax.
