New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.
In
lol at Carl's Jr upcoming promo email they sent out. It's a spoof on an internal email getting accidently released to the public.
Bottom line is that next Monday (Feb 12th) Carl's is giving away a free Western Bacon cheeseburger to all it's app users. No purchase required.
I also noticed that Wendy's currently in the app has a free Dave's Single with $1 purchase.
I was just about to post about the glorious free Dave's Single!
The smash'd potato bowl at KFC was pretty good. I wasn't sure about mashed potatos on top of fries but it worked. I got one upgraded with the nuggets on top due to a screw up. I'd say it definitely needs that protein added to all the potato but isn't worth the extra $5.
I haven't been hitting the fast food much lately, but last night I played app roulette and ended up at Rick's for BOGO Big Macs.
When they handed me the bag, I thought maybe they'd messed up and given me double macs. Nope, they were just regular Big Macs, but they were somehow more substantial - bag was heavy. They did have the newly upgraded buns and were a little saucier. Cheese was melted, or at least close enough.
10/10, would eat again.
Oh man, that sounds delightful.
I gotta get to ricks
But it's Whopper Wednesday! It was good.
As an aside, my BK just started charging for extra pickles. Puts the "Have it your way" phrase in question.
On the positive side, I noticed my BK app credit card use was unbanned! I didn't need to play the giftcard game.
fast food rule number two: strive to be just that much incrementally better than the competition, or yourself in a previous life
Spoiler
in case you were wondering, fast food rule number one: the profit is in drinks and taters, be friends with georgia and idaho

charging for extra pickles????
WTF was the upcharge? Don't tell me it was 50c or more or I'm going to LOSE MY COLLECTIVE ****.
It was a dime.
They also charge for extra lettuce and tomato. BUT add light lettuce and tomato is free.
Free Big Mac with $2 purchase tomorrow in NE. First of many?
One thing I really like about my local BK was they didn't charge to add onion to a cheeburger.
Man, my last whopper was in the summer.
I know is often slightly cheaper to modify the cheeseburger and adding the ingredients to make it the same as a whopper jr vs buying one. Plus you get cheese too...

The whopper was just classic. Needing that angry whopper in times like these.

Story time with McMuffin.
So yesterday I'm in the area of a Wendy's and I decided I wanted a Chocolate Frosty as I felt like treating myself. Don't think McMuffin should treat himself? What? You wanna fight about it? Anyways, I got a medium because there's definitely diminishing returns with a Frosty, no point in going large and in charge, much like Charles in the 1980s.
So while I'm dining on my Chocolate Frosty I decide I wanna get my 2p2 on. I had to opt-into the Wifi to get any damn signal on my phone and when I went to twoplustwo it didn't let me access the website. Why?, you incredulously ask McMuffin. Because it was deemed a "Gambling" website and I was not allowed to access it. "****ing bullshit!", I exclaimed from my seat. Half the room turned and looked at me wondering what was going on. The other half didn't bother looking because, well, it's a Wendy's and they expect such behavior. I demanded to speak to a manager but he was on his lunch break so I left a complaint written for him on a Wendy's napkin.
Fwiw, the Frosty was 8.72/10.0.
I'm heading there for my free Single for lunch today!

Which half of the room was more inclined to comment:
"Sir. This is a Wendy's."
