Donald J. Trump (For everyone else except Victor)
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
I think a better comparison (instead of rhinos vs elephants) when someone says the US gov't is small compared to Europe is saying a serial rapist is a good person compared to others on death row because the others killed their victims.
God damn! I'm not sure what anybody can really do with this. I'm trying to ease up with the harsh language and personal attacks, so let me just say, you're a... peculiar sort of poster, and this website is at least slightly more entertaining with you in it.
Do you understand how comparatives work? When you add an "er", you are a making a relative comparison. If I said rhinos were smaller than elephants, would your immediate reaction be, "WTF! Rhinos aren't small."
I do but tame deuce described it as "small", not as "smaller", in the post i answered to.
Reducing the size of gov't brings short term pain and long-term gains.
The switch from a president who reads from a teleprompter once every 5 or 6 months to someone who answers questions from the press, gives speeches and makes himself as available as possible has been pretty wild.
The good news is that the power of unelected bureaucrats, as well as elected leaders, is falling drastically.
This is just wishful thinking.
The power of unelected bureaucrats and elected leaders are certainly not diminishing in your country. I would say they are increasing to levels that are soaring past what is healthy, and this is happening right next to decreased transparency. Those are two horsemen of the authoritative state right there, to name two grievous examples.
Add to this that the governing party's platform is a loyalty test to the leader of the executive branch, and political appointments have become farcical. We saw an alcoholic "promising not to drink" if he becomes secretary of defense and the appointment of an anti-vaxxer who has made millions misleading the public.
As for bureaucrats, you are doing an enormous reorganization of your government. The people doing it are a bunch of unelected bureaucrats, which by all available evidence are very bad at their job. Your government refused to tell both the public and the courts who led them, and are now actively lying about who leads them. And these bureaucrats operate with no oversight, neither administrative nor political. You'd be hard pressed to find a time in American history where bureaucrats have held more unchecked power, at least in peace-time.
I mean, the whole thing is so patently absurd that typing this post just feels stupid.
The only conclusion I can make is that your country is being led based on social media engagement and metrics. Defending what is going on is doing it a disservice.
The percentage of the population that works in the public sector in the United States is smaller than average, and certainly smaller than most of Western Europe. I would not be surprised if per capita health care expense in the United States is higher than any country in Western Europe, but the sheer size of the public workforce isn't the main driver.
Not to nitpick but the size of the public workforce is the driver, but the relationship is that the larger public workforce the lower the costs.
People can't stop bashing bureaucracy but it's one of the innovations that makes modern life possible. A good bureaucrat is worth their weight in fckn gold.

The Sumerians had bureaucrats, so it's more about living in a civilization as opposed to a tribe that it's making possible, not really "modern" life.

smooth back office administration is indeed required for succesful execution in any large enough organization.
But the people doing the necessary paper shuffling should never have any decision power at all related to the goals of the organization, the allocation of resources and so on.
Same as the mechanics repairing cars should have no say on traffic regulations

Per capita healthcare expense in the US is about double that of Western Europe (the nearest comparitor), in the region of $12,000 at 2021 values compared to around $5-6,000, presumably due to the commercialised US medical system.
Why Americans keep putting up with this is one of those mysteries like where all the flies go in winter.
Except he's kicked out the press that might actually ask him questions instead of kissing his ass.
He is by far the most heavily criticized president in our lifetimes so the idea that trump is going to make sure he will only get good press is absolute nonsense.
Most of the power we are shifting away from the federal gov't is going back to the people who will now enjoy lower taxes and less regulations. Some of it is also being moved to state gov't too. Trump seems dead set on making the position of president and the fed. gov't as a whole less powerful.
Trump and Vance are such a pair of knobs.
This isn't one of your opinions Donnie

Getting rid of pet projects and reigning in gov't agencies by making them focus on what they were originally designed is diminishing power in the federal gov't.
You'd be hard pressed to find a time in American history where bureaucrats have held more unchecked power, at least in peace-time.
I'm not sure how old you are, but years ago there was a pandemic called covid. You should read articles about how powerful bureaucrats were back then. You will be shocked!

There is no transparency, so this is just your wishful thinking.

Clever, but unfortunately you seem to have forgotten who the US president was in 2020. Still, I'm sure you can inform the forum about what fearsome powergrab the bureaucracy did on Trump's watch. Since you are so concerned about it, I mean.
That's awesome man... I'm sure you're so proud.
I grew up in Los Angeles, and I remember black air days, where you weren't allowed to go outside. EPA regulation improved air quality 73% since the 70's in LA:
Before EPA:
After EPA:
Same here. I remember going to school in the late 70's/early 80's and "smog days" being a thing. No strenuous activities allowed outdoors. Couldn't see the giant Mt Baldy at all, which was only about 15 miles away.
What the fuck was that
a very stable genius at work
This actually turned my stomach. A bunch of boys with arrested development, bullying a man that is trying to defend his country from an unsolicited attack by a dictator lead aggressor country.
This pretty much says it all. I refuse to allow immature bullies to define masculinity this way. There's nothing masculine about this... it's just cowardice. But it's the underbelly of what America is fighting about right now. How do you define the best model of man? Is it through brute force bullying? Bending people to your knee, or through grace, love, acceptance, reason, fairness, and strength through conviction?

This ain't it. ^^^

The guy campaigned for Harris against Donald Trump. Then came into his office making demands and threatening Trump and Americans trying to tell them what they are going to feel. He got bitch slapped and sent packing and rightfully so.
Man imagine being proud of this

That's such a shallow, immature, and ignorant take.
I don’t get your graph ?
Yes if a recession occurs , inflation should go down .
Better have inflation and a Joni then having no job with lower inflation ain’t it ?
It was an ironic comment linked to the fact that if a recession comes soon, inflation will go down and trump will claim he brought prices down while the recession will be of course blamed on Biden
