the other day i noticed he was spamming every thread as usual, i went and counted and he racked up 50+ posts that day. considered doing a word count just for fun, but decided against burning 10 minutes on that bullshit. anyway, most of the posts i saw were on the longer side, so i estimated ~200 words per post (probably way low), which equaled 10,000+ words that day. what an incredible waste of life

i think the term is "federalize" and while it's easier and automatic for washington DC (for up to a month: to do it longer he needs congress to vote on that), there are provisions allowing it elsewhere, but they need conditions (so if trump attempts that, people can sue if they think conditions aren't met).
Possibly the most famous previous case was when Eisenhower federalized the national guard to break school segregation.

But I believe those are states who have leaders who've criticised the crime in LA. It's very reasonable to call them out on their own crime rates, especially if it's of the entire state.
It goes even further than that. It is important to point out what these elected officials are doing.
Your best case scenario is that they are hypocrites, which is bad enough. The second-best scenario is that they are clueless about crime in their own states where they are elected to serve.
The worst case scenario is that they are arguing that any city / state / region not controlled by loyalists is so crime-infested that it needs to be policed using extrajudicial measures and civil rights needs to be curbed.
