President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Hell, at this point any one of us can prove it.

Saw that old interview with Carl Sagan today in which he said that there is a "combustible combination of ignorance and power" in the USA and that we are "up for grabs for a charlatan politician that comes along." I wonder what he would think of today's scene?

And I wonder what the people who apologize for this think. At this point it's about like apologizing for the religion as it was burning "witches."

Some would say trying to overturn an American election is pretty major. But apparently not Fox (based on the headline I posted), and this is a huge reason conservatives are so in the dark about literally... anything, and struggle to understand why most Americans are upset, and the world is aghast. They just think, "finally we have someone who is tough on issues, and won't take sht from the world community." Because this is all they hear. They don't get nearly enough real facts.

We're all in our bubbles now thanks to SM and search algorithms, but can we at least get some truth in both bubbles? 😀

We have weeded out powerful and credible voices like Carl Sagan and George Carlin from the public sphere. Their modern day successors wouldn't be allowed to speak on the corporate media outlets and the tech giants which bend the knee to Trump in return for favorable executive branch treatment of their M&A objectives.

The best we can get is some sarcastic rebuttal of the whole system by the likes of John Stewart, Stephen Colbert (soon to be RIP) and John Oliver. But a thoughtful and sincere person like Carl Sagan or a real Dem socialist like MLK Jr. ? Sorry ..... no space for that in the media in 2025 ? Just cough up the grift to humor Trump and buy the desired executive branch outcome. It's all about the gravitational force of money and not at all about the sustainability or well being of the republic.

Anyone watch that speech last night? He's on something.

No. Everything he says is the ramblings of a senile old fool who can't stop shitting himself, so more of the same?

It was more of the same, but twice as fast. It sounded like he was hyped up on amphetamines. I've never seen him like that.

he seemed a lot more coherent. must have been on the Biden cocktail.

I hope this is a new tradition.

I hope this is a new tradition.

Why?

I am assuming those aren't real, but it's very hard to tell anymore - such a sad state of affairs in the US.

I don't why you are making that assumption. I obviously haven't seen them with my own eyes, but they were widely reported on (and quoted by) by MSM accross the political spectrum (BBC, NYT, Fox, NY Post, ABC, CNN, Reuters, AP).

I am at a point now that whenever they actually charge Trump with whatever, his sentence is his grave must be a monument that is in a public place, where people can come and piss on it, and it's hosed down hourly.

I know at this point it doesn't mean anything, but it looks like a random 15 year old could do a better job at making it look like something that isn't out of place in the white house

At this point, a random 15 year old would be a better POTUS....

Creating something that looked out of place in the White House was a feature, not a bug. Trump understands that, on a relatively basis, he is better at mud wrestling than he is at ballet. Dragging everyone and everything into a gutter has always been his MO. It's the Pennywise the Clown theory of politics.

The autopen picture was there for a few months, but he just added the plaques underneath each president.

Kennedy Center to be renamed Trump-Kenne...

I'm pretty sure they're working on changing our country name to the United States of Trump
