I already made a long post about the R word, but I'll summarize. The word idiot was a clinical medical diagnosis for someone with an IQ below around 30; the word moron was a clinical medical diagnosis for someone with an IQ of about 60, and imbecile fell between idiot and moron - all terms fall under the umbrella of the diagnosis of ******ed.

He constantly calls people moron, idiot, etc., and those words mean the same thing as ******ed (just different parts of the spectrum) so he's a hypocrite at best, and an idiot at worst. I'm going with the latter - he hasn't yet been told that moron and idiot is the same thing as calling someone ******ed, so it's okay in his book for now until some social movement tells him those words are not acceptable and he migrates to calling people another name that means the same thing.

I didn't fat shame him. He said McDonald's cheeseburgers were practically bite-sized. I provided evidence that they are not bite-size because they are over 300 calories.

I then asked him how many he typically ordered. Oh, wow... fat shaming!! You derps realize that intake is only one part of the equation, right? He could bike 75 miles each day for all I know, so his calorie intake is meaningless on its own.

The massive contradiction inherent in being BOTH a fundamentalist Christian/man of faith* and a logician is something special to behold. Can't think of anything less logical than passionate belief in some sky creature which, assuming its existence, automatically violates everything we know about the natural universe.

We are witnessing someone who is passionate enough about the rules of logic to CONSTANTLY bring them up... and also believes his own God murdered everybody on Earth except for one random *******, his wife, and two of each animal, animals which said ******* was able to... trap? cajole? into a giant boat... while not preying on each other, as said animals are known to do#. Oh, and by the way, this God of his is a good guy, a great guy, in fact, who definitely didn't murder 1000x the number of innocent living creatures that Hitler did. The guy seems to have two separate brains which can never and will never interact with each other in any way, both contained within the body of one 60-year-old voluntary virgin. Language is fluid, and as such, all common words gain and lose colloquial meanings regularly. In the United States, "R-tarded"* is currently a slur and "moron" and "idiot" are not, and it doesn't matter if you find a thesaurus which calls them synonyms. You can figure this out by the reactions people have when others write or say these words. Why do you think the "r word" is censored here and the others are not? Have the random Ukrainian dudes who own this site fallen victim to the woke mind virus?

Unlike the n-word, which carries specific historic connotations, these other words seem to be a distinction without a difference.

Well an idiot is just a senseless or foolish person. The r-word refers to someone with a mental handicap. The difference is significant. For example Trump is an idiot. He is not what one might call the r-word. I'll leave it at that since it was not my desire to bring this back up, and I don't really want to discuss it further. You asked, I answered, that's it.

I think that's an important distinction.

But as LOL pointed out, 'idiot' and 'moron' are ALSO (or at least were) designations of a mental handicap.

Obviously when LOL uses the r-word, he is expressing the idea that the person is willfully ignorant, not literally mentally handicapped.

I would say using the r-word is certainly less problematic than labeling all right-wingers as 'Nazis', which is considered perfectly acceptable pretty much everywhere.

I will repeat that I'm not going to continue discussing this, but you can feel free to continue justifying the use of the R slur all you want without my participation,of course.
