President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

I actually misspoke, I meant "you're not him then, I take it", but in misspeaking it seems I have elicited a confession.

What difference does it make if you forgot your password to an account that is permabanned? It's still permabanned, your password is useless.

I don't think that account is permabanned. I self-banned for some length of time, and that time has elapsed. Rococo told me something to the contrary that I forget, but in any case, that's the deal.

LOL'd at "elicited a confession". I outright stated I'm KarlOG within my first 20 posts under this handle. I have no interest or need to hide who I am. Try reflecting on how you were wrong instead of spinning up some paranoid nonsense about my allegedly super-secret identity.

You're right that being dumb is not seen as a desirable quality, but that doesn't mean it's appropriate to solely refer these people in purely negative manner. Nobody chooses to be dumb. I can't see how it's cool to issue slurs to people about personal qualities over which they have no control. Nobody chooses to be gay, and being gay is seen as an undesirable quality amongst

I am fine with calling people names who are wilfully dumb - i.e. ignorant. That is a choice. I am not advocating for calling people with genuine learning disabilities all sorts of names for funsies. To that end, there are certainly posters here and people I know in real life that I would have no problem at all with calling a r-tard, or any other comparable slur. By the nature of how language and the world works, these will always be the same words that are also used to refer to genuinely low IQ individuals, because they describe the same characteristic. Similar to how use the same word to describe people who eat too much and those who have thyroid problems. The fact that one group makes a choice to be fat and the other has it foisted upon them doesn't mean we use different words to describe individuals in these groups. It's just not how it works.

It's pointless arguing with me on this - I don't make the rules, I'm just explaining to you what they are.

Natalie Harp, the aide he's very, very close to...🙄

Writes Trump creepy love letters, and is considered a security threat by the secret service due to their working relationship.

What the hell did I just read.

You would be mistaken.

God the rapist is totally gonna post on the Mongo and elway account simultaneously now isn’t it?

Has this guy actually raped somebody? I remember some weird thing about OnlyFans, but really, no details. Hook me up with the info.

by d2_e4

Oh, ok. Well, that permabanning must have come during the period I was self-banned, as I was able to freely post right up until they honored my self-ban, so that's very weird of a mod to do that, but if you say so.

The fact that the undertitile of that account is currently "banned" should probably give you a clue.

I have, very normally, spent exactly zero seconds looking at the account page of the Karl account, or my old posts, so I wouldn't know. You, very non-normally, are built different. I'm not really the type to go searching through months or years-old posts for pointless gotchas. You're just gonna have to take my word for it that I was/am unaware of my supposed permabanning.

I've had any number of 2p2 accounts banned over the years, and some of them may well be permas. I've never hid this fact for one second. I clearly don't regard my ability to continue posting here as some sacred thing, unlike the Mongidigs of the world who play dumb little games around this issue.

Pro tip: You don't need to go trawling through months or years of posts to find a months- or years-old post, the search feature is agnostic to how old a post is.

But I'm probably just neuroatypical. Don't judge me, bro.

You suddenly remembered your password?

Amazin'!

Whoever invented the word 'neuroatypical' is an idiot.

It's wild how many imminent threats are popping up on the radar under the Trump admin. What's the threat exactly? Communism? Weeks away from a nuclear weapon perhaps?

Let's not give them any ideas.

Whomp whomp

So is linda McMahon the last woman left in the cabinet?

Susie, Linda, Brooke, Kelly.

Exactly.

Whoops, be careful about saying people who eat too much are fat by choice. That's like 70% of the United States and the mentally challenged are only like 2% of the US, so expect to get peppered about any takes on eating (Dids incoming in T-minus...)

Fat people don't like the insinuation that they can control their weight; they don't believe in CICO and always seem to be able to defy the laws of thermodynamics despite all their labs being normal.

I have a family member that was just like this. Always trying some bullshit fad diet without realizing it all comes down to how much you shovel down your gullet. We went on a vacation with their family once and so we constantly ate together.

It's like, yeah, that ****ing mountain of lettuce that's only 50 calories means jackshit when you put 400 calories of thousand island dressing on it and 300 calories of shredded cheese and sunflower seeds and think the entire salad is 250 calories. And heaping measurements to dieters are like alcoholics trying to cut back by drinking 15% ABV beer and 60% whiskey so they can say they only had one shot and two beers.

Since this is something we've talked about before (I'm not the one to bring it up) and i got dragged into it again, I just said to eat pretty much exactly what my wife eats on the trip, and after three weeks in Italy they came back like 10-15 pounds lighter.

I was going to address the differently-abled euphemism KoG brought up in that exchange back in the day before he got booted about a dude I knew who lost his leg, but bro basically thinks if you change the name, you change the condition. Makes him feel more comfortable.

I am not married to that particular analogy. The point is that we have words to describe specific characteristics, and, with few exceptions, those words are indifferent to how those characteristics were acquired*, and whether or not they were acquired through choice. That's just how language has evolved and no amount of PC pandering will change that.

*there are exceptions - off the top of my head and with LOL's last post fresh in my mind, "amputee" would be one.

PC has been an excellent part of language evolution

It's nowhere near as important as actions but language can be harmful to vulnerable people and and it's so easy to make the little effort required to help.

Meh. If it was aimed at someone who was actually seeking to do people harm, then perhaps.

But that is is rarely the case. The nazis, racists, bigots and extremists get ignored, because it is not like they would listen. And since this trend is more about the power to control speech than it is about what is being said, that makes perfect sense. You don't have power over people who do not listen.

So instead, it just turns into a mob-fuelled purity test where perfection is the standard and it all develops into a strict orthodoxy looks to clamp down on anybody who dares crack a joke or say something controversial.

And after all that is said and done, the left and the progressives go around wondering why their leaders have the charisma of bricks and spines made of of rubber. I mean, that is what you get when you prefer sanitized communication and suppressed opinions. Go figure.

It's more important because it's successfully aimed at people who didn't realise they were doing harm

As for these rest. I disagree its those who support division and polarisation with the personal attacks on and ostracization of huge swathes of people who are a problem. That is nothing to do with PC language.

leaders have the charisma of bricks and spines made of of rubber.

the problem is that people vote for them. Demanding policies and abilities is considered bad somehow. Nothing else will ever matter much if we keep voting for people we don't want.

The Trump administration will now require people seeking green cards to leave the United States during the application process — a sweeping change that could upend the lives of hundreds of thousands of people seeking the right to legally and permanently live and work in the US.

"PC" has always existed in the sense that basic common courtesy has always entailed avoiding language that offends people in our day-to-day lives.

Although I don't expect the idiots and morons around here to understand that.
