When the tariff stuff started with Canada and the US (and Mexico), Canadian officials where meeting with Lutnick regularly. It ended up being sad (and almost funny) witnessing how out of tune he was with every Trump announcement.
When Lutnick hinted Trump would let Canada off easy, but no announcement would come for a few days, Trump would smack Canada two hours later. When Lutnick would brief the Canadians that Trump would do X, he would actually do Y. It was like an SNL skit.
One might argue that this was intentional to keep Canada on its toes, but it seemed more clear each day that Trump just never talked to the guy, and for certain didn't listen to him.
Anyway, I am not sure anyone from Canada even bothers talking to Lutnick anymore.
PS. Any time I have seen him on TV my impression is that he is not overly bright.
