Climate Change - increasingly horrible disasters loom
...............
there is so much out there about this - I don't really need to provide a lot of sources - a quick google search will find you thousands of links
of course there are the climate change deniers
and there are those who say what little we can do won't be nearly enough
just one link:
from the article:
"Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. "
couldn't resist one more link - story about Siberia, one of the coldest places on earth where there is human habitation - they now face 100 degree days and multiple wildfires caused by them

I know I can be a little long-winded or too subtle with getting to the point, but I don't think this one's on me.
My man woke up today and simply chose violence. Or, recovering redditor with Only Read Headlines Syndrome?
Wait, I thought there was no us?
Or is it us when it's convenient to you?
I love when you align with idiots and actually acknowledge they are you.
In this thread there is a us.
There are people who for a variety of reasons see the attempt at forcing net 0 down our throats as a gigantic problem much bigger than climate change itself, and those who think that we have a moral or whatever duty to suicide our present quality of life to attempt to get a little less global warming in 2100.
Some people might end up agreeing with me while being wrong on some or many things (for ex they might deny the world is warming). Doesn't matter much to me as long as we agree on the actions needed today: fend off the leftist attempt to destroy our societies and potentially even capitalism because "the climate". That's the only actual threat, that's the only crisis, the existance of too many of such people in our societies.
Our society is destined for death from birth, just like you and I. Impermanence is constant. There's no effort involved in nature taking its course.
Any organism whose population grows unchecked is destined to die in its own toxic waste, just like bacteria in a petri dish. A very small amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is perfect for us. A lot is fatal.
The human CO2 footprint has grown by 130x in the last 300 years.
The canary in the coal mine is readily apparent in the breaking of our economic system. Inflation. Homeowners insurance spiking. Even the election of Donald Trump .... a person built to preside over involuntary population reduction. Just like Hitler. Nature is calling for us to divide into survivors and non-survivors. The herd is preparing itself to shrink.
This is why you people cannot be taken seriously. The fact you believe this shows how dangerous and violent your worldview is. The two things you proposed have ZERO science backing it and would absolutely destroy society if they were somehow implemented. You climate cultists area danger to humanity. "Gaia" is a mythical pagan deity.
I'm all for being a steward of the world that God created for us in TANGLIBLE, real world ways. Not legislating carbon...we're carbon based lifeforms ffs. Instead of
The world is flat too .
Didn’t you knew that ?
Looks like all the dark hearted souls here have avoided answering the question as to any other factor which might cause heat to be retained in the Earth's atmosphere besides greenhouse gases like CO2.
They can't name a single other causative factor.
Not expecting any scientific revelations from people who think that carbon is the same as carbon dioxide.

our societies didn't have populations growing unchecked. Italy has the same population it had 30 years ago (and that's with some net migration).
if your claim is that Egypt should have 15-20 m people and not the 100m+ it has which all came recently I can agree.
but the **** i am willing to spend anything because Egyptians (and many others) had too many children

But since abortion isn’t really an option in the right wing ideology….
it’s the natural tendency of life , it isn’t a problem .
So because it’s natural , the concept of « had to many children » doesn’t seem to apply like more human expand their life , more they uses ressrources .

Aside from global warming, all of the air pollution in the environment worldwide is killing between 5 and 10 million people every year. I believe in 2022 that over 60,000 people in the US died from air pollution.
I not only care about my loved ones, I care about everyone on the planet. The extra benefit of clean energy (wind and solar) is that it will stop the heating of the planet in addition to lowering the number of extra deaths each year.
I have no problem with the expansion of nuclear energy if it means shutting down coal, oil, and eventually natural gas power plants. But seriously if you care about people and helping protect everyone from catastrophic climate changing events and pollution, all types of clean energy are worth pursuing.

Who's going to tell him that maybe it's "capitalism" that is destroying societies and the climate?
The Earth is what's being depleted for profits. And it's not even an efficient system.
It should be no surprise that the economic system built on exploitation is contributing to:
Overconsumption
Resource depletion
Ecological destruction
Fossil fuel conservation should be paramount. It's a great resource for energy production. Imagine how the folks in 2100 will feel about how the societies before them squandered fossil fuels. Single passenger vehicles, refineries flaring "excess" gases, and commercial airlines are the tip of the iceberg of wasteful consumption.
Education and legislation that intends to curb irresponsible overconsumption seems to be a pretty valid solution.
Oh and by the way, in the economic system you worship, capitalism, the way to reduce consumption is to increase cost. If a resource is more expensive, then it will theoretically be consumed at a slower rate. So you can blame capitalism, not the leftist horde, for your cost of living increase.
ye socialist dictatorships are famous for not using fossil fuels
Where'd you get that fancy graph?
Your ability to misconstrue an argument is unparalleled.
Is there a point to this graph?
You're such in good faith you could have gone back to 2000 BC.
That socialist countries exploit natural resources as much as they can anyway and there is absolutely nothing special in capitalism about exploiting natural resources for material prosperity.
Exploiting natural resources for material prosperity is normal for the totality of human societies, it is "what we do", not a flaw of capitalism, and not fixed if you abolish capitalism even if you consider it a flaw.

It's laughable you think "exploiting" is the way humans have made it this far.
The indigenous peoples of North America seemed to have it pretty damned good. Their way of life was to conserve nature, not waste it.
The private charters came in and wreaked havoc. Here's some evidence:

I've said it in this thread once already, and I'll say it again. You need to get you some magic mushrooms, take a few grams, have a nice little ego death, and go hug a ****ing tree.

Good luck bringing us all, ~8B people, to the lifestyle of the natives. Pretty sure it will end up really well for everyone, no one will die of starvation etc.
