Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
The article says they asked the government officials not to attend the funerals or make a political spectacle of the event, and the government officials went anyway. They were driven out.

I am asking you to explain the reason for why they were asked not to attend and were subsequently ejected?

I assumed they were asked not to go to the funerals because whoever did the asking did not want to be used as political pawns for the Israeli govt, whose actions they do not approve of.

Is there some event this tweet is referring to? Something all of a sudden happened?

I am going to go out on a limb this particular Twitter account has been making a lot of these types of comments in a very one sided manner for the entirety of the war; and we should not be looking for any cogent balanced explanations or well thought out arguments.

The Israeli people seem much more outraged over prisoner abuse than Americans were during Iraq; hats off to them.

Well, unfortunately due to blatant antisemitism and hypocritical double standards non right wing Israelis* knows they aren't on a level playing field in this regard, and they have to be more outraged.

Hamas can perpetuate October 7th and be heroes to hundreds of millions around the world (including active members of this thread), who revel in their depravity, barbarism, cruelty and inhumanity.

But obviously Israelis are judged on a completely different scale than not only Islamists (who are mostly given a moral free pass for horrible behavior) but also everyone else in the world, and they know it.

**Like many of their enemies, right wing Israelis seem to be motivated by lizard brain tribalism and supernatural considerations, which is why it is hard to find reasonable explanations for their actions. Thank God there are so few of them, unlike their counterparts on the other side that count hundreds of millions.

proly the allegedly credible organized mass rape accusations that reached the mainstream Western press.

Jal is just having an off day. Happens to the best of us

So it turns out the Israeli government's accusations against Hamas of mass rape were little more than projection.

by Victor k

Israeli leaders were literally arguing that it is ok to rape a "Nukba terrorist" today.

I dunno maybe the translation is wrong.

Is the second tweet, specifically its translation confirmed by someone? I know these accusations started in February and maybe earlier but a politician actually saying it's okay to rape prisoners is crazy.

looks like Israel is now going after the Christian Islamists

I predict this bomb will be returned to sender. at this point Israel is dropping so many bombs that the Resistance has essentially an unlimited amount of ammo to fight with.

Terrorists sprinkle baby bottles like cops sprinkling crack on dead bodies.

those are Christians so they cant be terrorists

The raped terrorist situation is disgusting and obviously not OK. It’s barely making a splash over here though and obviously many Israelis are directly opposed to it. Thankfully, dissenting thoughts are allowed in Israel. Both sides are not the same, clearly. Big news is that things might be getting really bad for Hezbollah and I don’t think any Iranian threats are going to save them.

not really sure how bombing a civilian building and killing civilians is bad for Hezbollah but ok budday.

also, its good to know the line is drawn at torture rape. for some. both sides indeed are not the same.

You’re not sure about most things. It’s ok!

Im pretty sure about Israel and its supporters but they will ban me for saying anything else

Hope so for Israel and the Israeli people. Hezbollah can actually fight back though.

5:40 of this video there's a member of netanyahu's party yelling about how nothing should be off limit (rape, torture, whatever), which seems to be the majority position right now, regardless of what statements they release in english to appease western zionists

and another one from breaking points:

edit: lol breaking points brought on this dipshit who supported everything until like yesterday

Hezbollah pummeled back into caves last time Israel attacked and the balance of fire power, if anything, has tipped further in Israel's favor.

DouleBrunsonFan, please post about content and not other posters. Thank you

And the majority of Israeli society seems to be against this mindset, and the justice system is going after the suspects. Dont you think this is better than Israeli's enemies, where right wing theocrats have complete control of society with no liberal internal opposition?

It is kind of wild how so called "progressives" who are outright supporters of maniacally conservative, autocratic, theocratic right wing Islamic regimes see it as some sort of "win" that the liberal world also has people with similar mindsets, but actually make attempts to oppose such people and uphold liberal values.

Israel doing mass rape in torture facilities with much of the ruling party in favor of it is not the win you think it is.

It is definitely not a win.

But having criminals be held to laws, even against the wishes of right wing theocrats, is better than what happens in pretty much all the societies you support.

Hezbollah pummeled back into caves last time Israel attacked and the balance of fire power, if anything, has tipped further in Israel's favor.

The problem is Hezbollah has spent the last 20 years building up its cave infrastructure. They are very comfortable living (and attacking) from caves.

I was reading some analysis from a some (Jewish) Twitter person I follow with a lot of military background and he acknowledged there is little Israel can do about the caves and all the men and weapons in the caves. It sounds like he doesn't think even their bunker buster bombs can appreciably damage the Hezbollah cave infrastructure. He said in an all out war they would have to focus on attacking launch pads and launch sites to try to mitigate Hezbollahs ability to use their weapons.

He also gave his opinion Israel would also need US support (at least a full carrier group in the Mediterranean) to deal with other Iranian proxies that would certainly join the fight.

So on top of the Hezbollah commander getting killed by Israel in Beirut, there are reports a top Hamas official was assassinated in Tehran. No details on the latter yet, or even if it is true.

At some point you would hope the light bulb would go off that if you are Arab, allying with the IRI to fight Israel is kind of a bad idea. All you end up with is a destroyed country and poor life expectancy yourself. No real upside at all.

Is there even a single example of anyone allying with the IRI and it working out?

Sadr but I agree it's a pretty short list.

A Hamas Leader Is Killed in Iran During Visit
Hamas accused Israel of killing Ismail Haniyeh, who was in Tehran for the inauguration of Iran’s new president.

lol

oops!
