Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
IDF raping prisoners with M16s is anti-Semitism.

We have finally gone full circle.

Claiming the IDF does incredibly dislikeable things without any proof is anti semitism

Putting Jewish lives at risk is antisemitism.

By extension, any action that doesn't help Israel win the war is antisemitism

Incredibly dislikeable.

Lol.

I told you guys months ago that anything that makes Israel look bad is antisemitism. Lucion is not wrong.

West Bank genocide has accelerated. Finish them?

yes

actually it depends. bc in Israel in general the audience approves so its not. in general in the West it is indeed bc it makes Israel look bad to the audience.

West Bank genocide has accelerated.

it's about the hostages, and hamas!

ya unsurprisingly the Hamas bogeyman is now well entrenched in the West Bank.

So if America pulls aid out of rational self-interest, this is antisemitic?

Betraisefold22, please take a timeout from this thread until 12 AM Eastern time for personal attacks.

The rules for this thread are strictly ro address CONTENT, not posters. Thank you.

Betraisefold22, timeouts are not optional in this thread. We’ll see you in 24 hours.

What does "pulling out" even mean to you. We have MAJOR economic, military and humanitarian aid interests in most of the Middle East and Turkey. How do you want to pull out, and have you given any thought to how the dominos fall from this.

These are just the military agreements we have signed with Israel. We have similar agreements with numerous other nations in the Middle East. Same thing for economic agreements.

The United States and Israel have signed multiple bilateral defense cooperation agreements, to include: a Mutual Defense Assistance Agreement (1952); a General Security of Information Agreement (1982); a Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (1991); and a Status of Forces Agreement (1994).

What do you want to do? Just announce we are no longer going to honor any of the probably 100 agreements we have outstanding in the region? What about all the American businesses operating in the ME. Are we going to tell them to pull out too.

I didn't say all aid. Also, that was a hypothetical. To say that "any action that doesn't help Israel is antisemitic" is a ridiculous absolute.

Well, yeah.

It would make netanyahu extremely antisemitic if it wasn't nonsense

That can't be right because ethnic cleansing efforts undertaken by the Israelis predate Hamas and the hostages.

I had a thought.

Hebrew and Judaism are actually a native language and religion to the region respectively; while Islam and Arabic are settler colonial entities, brought over during the Islamic invasions ~1300 years ago.

And genetic evidence indicates although there is a lot of genetic influence from Arabia, Iran, Egypt and even Africa and Turkey (these were imported slave populations that existed in this region and mixed with the locals some); the predominate genetic component of Palestinians is Levant.

Seems the most sensible way to settle this is for the Palestinians to just throw off the settler colonial Arab/Islamic yoke, and re-convert back to being Hebrew speaking Jews; which they basically were 2100 years ago.

Win-Win.

Cool. Now do America.

--As an interesting aside, if you examine the DNA of MENA Jewish populations (eg. Yemen, Algeria, Iraq) they are actually genetically of more Arabic origin than Arab Muslims. As the Jews were dhimni (second class citizens in Muslim Apartheid states) they were not permitted to race mix with other Muslims as many Muslim Arabs did under various Islamic empires (This included Arab Muslims race mixing with their slaves, that were often of African or Turkish heritage).

The amusing thing with your analogy is that it would actually work if Hispanics in the SW decided they wanted to revolt and liberate the SW United States and form their own Hispanic nation; and underwent a generational guerrilla campaign to take said land, while the rest of the world colluded to support their campaign and refused to let the US definitely defeat them, which they could easily do due to vast economic, technological, and military superiority.

It is absurd of course, but so are the dynamics of the Palestinian liberation movement if you step outside the magic show.

You have to admit there is some irony in that the "natives" are the ones that embrace the colonial culture, language and religion; while the "settlers" are the ones that embrace actual native culture, language and religion.

I mean, there is a reason that the Romans referred to this area as Judea hundreds of years before Muslim conquerors invaded and brought Arabic and Islam to this part of the world.

I, honestly, dgaf about origin stories, either way

You did ask though.

On a more general note the point is it takes a lot of historical revisionism, selective fact choosing, and cognitive dissonance to embrace popular left wing and Islamofascist narratives of Israel being the settler colonialists and Arab Muslims being the natives.

There is some of that, but the truth is a lot more complex; especially when you consider Muslims evicted around the same number of Jews from their historical communities as Palestinian Muslims who were evicted during the Nakba. Seems like the Palestinians should just emigrate to the Muslim nations the Jews were kicked out of and call it even.
