Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
what parts were not allowed? what did EI show that was not allowed? be specific?
If you've forgotten what you said then you can read your original post or my post which quotes it.
glad that you agree that none of the EI videos broke any rules. maybe Ukraine should do the same if they dont want to get banned. I have not watched any of the Ukraine videos but I am just assuming that the threshold for banning pro-Imperial Western propaganda is a lot higher than actual freedom fighters against a genocide that most liberals support.
those are Sinwars kids.

I in no way said that, please do not put words in my mouth.
Ukrainian videos used to be constantly taken down for this reason, they learned how to abide by the guidelines of "big tech" so they were not taken down as often. I suggest EI do the same. If you would like to prove that EI's video did not break guidelines in the same manner as others yet they were taken down anyways, then that would be a big datapoint towards your argument that "big tech" is unfairly censoring them. Until you provide that evidence, then hopefully they take your advice and follow what Ukraine bloggers have done in order to not get banned.
Here is my quote which is being attacked. Nowhere does it claim that Ravid is unbiased. He is clearly biased because every human being is biased, that does not mean that he is not professional and does not post professionally.
Anyone living in Israel is clearly going to be biased one way. Anyone writing for a source like Al Jazeera is likely to be biased the other way. What matters is how they write their material.
As it is, this is just a bunch of ad hominems and some of them haven't even really been explained.

you dont watch EI videos. so I dont think you should pass judgement. you should watch them. you might learn something. but one of the foremost traits of liberals is that they do not want to learn.

he posts professionally you say? he is literally retweeting poor photoshops as atrocity propaganda from people charged with crimes against humanity.
I suffered through the first EI video I saw you post, even after they claimed that extreme violence can cause hallucinations so its possible the Israeli woman who claimed she was raped (or saw rape occur, I forget now) just imagined it.
I don't see how watching EI videos would help here though. What does help is my knowledge of other content creators who had videos showing things similar to "resistance videos" taken down. I have now shared that knowledge with you. What you claimed was "big tech censorship to protect the pro-Israeli apartheid and colonial project", is actually a common occurrence, and those creators (to my knowledge) have never claimed it was 'big tech censorship for the pro-Russia genocidal imperialism and colonialism project, they're just afraid to say "Russophobia"'. But hey, maybe it's different and Big Tech just hates Electronic Intifada. If so, you should gather some evidence and prove it!
A post in this case would be something that Barak says himself (not REposts), for example in an Axios article. I've never even looked at his personal Twitter before today.
so you dont watch EI and you have never read Barak's twitter feed and yet you are quite confident
watching EI would help with your knowledge of the thread you post in. and the topic that you confidently opine on.
I did watch EI (as I just stated in the very post you are replying to!) and quickly came to the opposite conclusion. Thanks for your opinion though, I'll weigh it into my future assessments.
I do not read Barak's Twitter feed, I read his articles for Axios since I prefer long form vs Twitter when possible. Based on those, I am quite confident in my opinion, yes. Feel free to keep attacking Barak as a person with your ad hominems, I'll continue to focus on his material since that is what I am concerned with.
BGP, do you think Hamas did mass rape?
I have no idea what "mass rape" even means. If you would like to define "mass rape", I can attempt to answer your question.
I believe that rape and gang rape occurred during the terrorist attack on October 7, yes. I believe rape has likely occurred to the hostages taken on Oct 7, although I have little proof of that.
Do you believe that rape occurred on October 7? Do you believe that Hamas has raped since October 7?
BTW a quick look at Barak's retweets suggest he is not the pro-Israeli propagandist he is trying to be painted as.

you know damn well what it means lol. its been massive talking point.
and nope, I dont believe it happened.
I do not know what it means. To me it sounds like an intentionally nebulous term made up to deny Hamas's responsibility for rape occurring on October 7.
If you would like to clarify what it means, then I'll be happy to answer.
Hamas did not do any rape
Neither side gives much of a **** at this point.
Arab/Palestinian political leadership has never once been interested in a 2 state solution the last 75 years. Many political leaders, notably Arafat, have cynically used the kabuki theatre peace process to enrich themselves on western largesse. And during this time the people themselves have been steadfast they accept nothing but conquering Israel, and they expect the west to pay them to live as refugees on the border, subsidizing the resistance
The two-state idea is over, but it was possible when Arafat was alive:
In an above-the-fold headline, The Washington Post is disputing Israel's claim to have killed an American citizen by accident.
I doubt anyone here is going to click on the link and read. So I will provide cliffs. All the witnesses are anonymous anti Israeli activists. And the video evidence is secret and no one is allowed to watch it.
I know that I for one am very persuaded by secret videos no one can see and biased anonymous activists.
Although FWIW the article does state the "peaceful protesters" were attacking IDF soldiers and burning tires to obscure vision and block IDF troop movement, and IDF responded with tear
I read the whole thing.
"In the olive grove, Helen saw Eygi drop facedown to the ground beside her. The older woman rolled her over. Blood was pouring from the left side of Eygi’s head, she said, and she was unresponsive.
"The IDF’s initial inquiry into Eygi’s death 'found that it is highly likely that she was hit indirectly and unintentionally by IDF fire which was not aimed at her, but aimed at the key instigator of the riot.'
"Yet the shots fired toward the activists, including the one that claimed Eygi’s life, came some 20 minutes after they had retreated to the bottom of the hill — more than two football fields away from the nearest Israeli soldiers."
I read the whole thing.

The highlighted is according to activist testimony. Is it true? Is it the whole truth? Who knows?
However, I dont know how aware you are of the dynamics of these type of events. But normally there is literally quite a number of pro Palestinian activist "press" with video cameras and regular cameras following around IDF soldiers recording everything, just waiting to catch something to turn into a story. And the article even admits various activist groups have a lot of video, they just aren't going to share it for "reasons"
So the fact we have nothing but eyewitness reports and secret video of this incident strains credibility.
Also, it appears PIJ Jihadis took the body and paraded her around as a Shahid and then who knows what happened to it. Why are they hiding the body? Why is no Western press asking why they are hiding the body? Also, in addition to there being no body there was never a proper autopsy or ballistics analysis of the round that allegedly killed her.
The IDF admits live rounds were fired by their soldiers at militants attacking them, so it is likely she was hit by a round from the IDF. But even this we have no actual physical evidence to be the case. Is there even a picture of the body with the bullet wound? Not that I am aware of.
How can there be such a well publicized event that happened in a big group of activists all carrying cameras, and there is no pictures at all, even of the aftermath? Sory, the whole thing just smells off.
So much of what we "know" about this event, and so many more, comes from eyewitness reports of very prejudiced actors that go out of their way to hide all the real evidence, that it continually boggles the mind how ready western leftist media are to accept obvious propaganda that confirms their own biases. And dont ask any of the basic questions you would expect an average 9 year old to ask.
How in the world do we call that article journalism? That article isn't journalism. It is just PR for the pro Palestinian activist narrative.

Oh you fool. If you were smart like me and Joe Biden, you would realize that the IDF has all these snipers who accidentally hit women, small children and peaceful protestors via ricochets all day every day.

There were "militants" there?
Even IDF says a protestor threw a rock:
In a statement, the IDF said: "Today (Friday), during Israeli security forces activity adjacent to the area of Beita, the forces responded with fire toward a main instigator of violent activity who hurled rocks at the forces and posed a threat to them.
"The IDF is looking into reports that a foreign national was killed as a result of shots fired in the area. The details of the incident and the circumstances in which she was hit are under review."
Is there new info on this, I know that article is almost a week old now.
