Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
Victor and BGP, put each other on ignore or you’re both going to get banned from these threads. Your feud is annoying m. Stop it now.
I sent you a PM.
saw some supposedly reputable military analyst estimated it was going mach ~6.5, and anything over 5 is considered hypersonic, so yeah. but i guess it is pretty funny if they want to dispute that and claim they got owned by some piece of garbage
I've been out of the military for 2 decades now and I don't know the jargon of 2024 but Im pretty sure that traveling at hypersonic speeds and a hypersonic missile are still two different things.
An ICBM traveling at hypersonic speeds is still an ICMB. If you build a larger missle that can travel at hypersonic speeds but isn't capable to be maneuvered upon reentry, your just trolling like NK with an oversized missile that's basically useless.
I could be the real thing - because i haven't looked into this thing, but id imagine that the odds arent in favor of that - by a redic amount.
The chances of an Arrow hitting a hypersonic missile are extremely slim. Not that you even need to get that far to conclude that the chances of this being a hypersonic missile are pretty much 0.
If I had to govern hamas, i'd fire Sinwar and bring in some 20yr old with some exposure and that people could get behind.
A bunch of kids aren't going to be interested in taking orders from some 60 year old boomer who's in hiding after burning the whole place to the ground.

estimates are 5k or so are under rubble. and ofc some have been run over by tanks as documented by the soldiers.

So i think it's pretty clear both sides are waiting for american elections to decide what to do, am i right? nothing of note has been happening for a while now
Seems like there's still a lot going on. IDF attacks have become so normalized that it takes an extreme event to be considered "of note" now.
Israel has likely realized they can't do much more in Gaza and are in a phase of switching things to Lebanon. Meanwhile there's the Gallant ordeal.
What do you think the election could alter?

In theory an Harris win would mean continuity with the current situation (but for 4 years, so they need a plan to achieve something stable), while a Trump win might allow Israel to go allin more , or at least that's what i suppose.
I don't think that would change what Israel does in the present.
There's also got to be at least some fear that Harris will be harder on Israel than Biden, which could even hurry things along.

they cant appreciably "go all in" any further than they already have been. well, I guess there are a few things they could do but I would get banned for suggesting them.

Seems like Israel is gettin ready to invade southern Lebanon to push Hezbollah back. And as others have noted, a lot of internal stuff going on in Israel, that will have ramifications moving forward how the war with Iran and its Arab proxies will move forward.
As far as the US election goes, seems like both candidates are just going to more or less ignore the conflict moving forward. No real upside to focusing on it anymore. At this point Harris has probably realized most of the far left and Muslim Hamas supporters have already made up their mind one way or another, and there is no point trying to pander to them any more.
In other news, bizarre story coming out of up to 500 Hezbollah fighters being injured when their pagers exploded all at once.

I'll be suprised if netanyahu doesn't force the issue before the election. It's when he has maximum leverage and a Harris win always carries some risk (however small) with how far the usa will support them.

The far bigger concern harris has is how trump will exploit anything they try to do that he can portray as weak. That goes away after the election

Israel has made the safe return of residents to the north of the country an official war goal, the prime minister's office has said.
The decision was taken by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet late on Monday.
total delusion to think Harris does anything but fully support this extermination campaign. probably goes even harder than Biden.
Ye ok i should have been more precise, i was thinking of Gaza. Ofc the situation in Lebanon is progressing
The IDF hacking and remotely detonating Hezbollah pagers is some sci-fi movie stuff. Israel hasn’t claimed responsibility but obviously no one else has the capability to carry this out.
Seems like the type of thing you do right before an attack
they killed and injured a bunch of civilians. that was the point as always.
I've seen at least one video of a kid with a similar wound. I don't recommend searching for them.
Hezbollah is known to use child messengers, so makes sense they would have them. Could be kids playing with their parents pagers. It's possible that all pagers blew up and some kids had them.
apologia for child murder now. Western liberal human rights at its finest.
