Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
didnt even give them residency lol. I mean, Im not gonna cry for people that decided to do some genocide but this just shows how racist and depraved the authorities are.
israel finally admits they killed 3 hostages in a november air strike
how many in total is that now?
Isnt this the first time they admitted it?
oh is that so? idk. interesting. wonder why they're starting now with that then
I'm not sure. It's the first time I can remember them officially admitting any were killed by air strikes. They did admit to the shooting of the 3.
Probably in fact an old-pattern Iranian ballistic missile (which broke up in flight) and not a modern hypersonic cruise missile at all. Iran can't produce hypersonics, Russia is having problems with them and the Houthis certainly don't have any such thing.
even if it broke up in flight as the habitual lying IDF asserted, and even if it is not a modern hypersonic, it still just straight up owned the Israeli air defense.
these are the Western liberal human rights that most on this forum defend. this is what they represent.
anyone else remember when Russia did and it caused and outpouring of rage and condemnation? oh wait, no comparisons.
It still seems like the comparisons thing is going over your head. This is a great comparison to make, however your comparison is a bit off. If this child was indeed found abandoned in a war zone then it is a humanitarian effort to save the child. If it was part of the systematic removal of thousands of children (almost 20k confirmed in Ukraine), including removing children from their parents and legal guardians as well as orphanages, then this will be very similar to what Russia did.
If this child's parents or legal guardians ask for the child back and are refused, and then this child and the others who were systematically removed are instead put into reeducation camps where they are taught to hate Gaza, and then adopted into Israeli homes (or whatever worse fate awaits the thousands of Ukrainians in Russia) then it will be similar in that regard too.
Until then, there's not much to go off of as far as how comparable these things are. I'm hoping for the best for the kid, and if Israel acts the way that Russia did then I'll be the first to condemn them and I think it is a safe bet that many others will too. I hope it doesn't come to that.
At this point it's difficult to directly compare the people outraged at Russia's systematic removal of thousands of children in order to brainwash them to their reactions regarding this one story in an attempt to call them hypocrites. A more relevant comparison would be the inconsistency of those who ignored or downplayed Russia’s large-scale removal and indoctrination efforts but are now quick to judge Israel based on one (or even a few), unconfirmed incident.

Counterpoint: They painted "HYPERSONIC" on the missile.

wow
like I said, Western values at play here.
hey its cool if they abduct a few kids here or there so long as their parents dont ask for them back. (nevermind that they are likey executed or being raped to death in prison). but when it gets to "systematic" and 20k kids, then BGP will be the first to stand up against the Western values that he holds dear. I believe him!
No, that's not what I'm saying, in no way did I justify abducting any amount of children. Please reread. Apparently I edited this part in as you were posting too which would be a good read as well:

saw some supposedly reputable military analyst estimated it was going mach ~6.5, and anything over 5 is considered hypersonic, so yeah. but i guess it is pretty funny if they want to dispute that and claim they got owned by some piece of garbage

its absurd like always. its an amazing achievement by the Yemeni who have faced mass killing for decades at the hands of the Western liberal human rights entities that most in this thread and the Ukraine thread support without any qualification.
ofc these same Westerners who bow at the altar of Barak Ravid will downplay it and ridicule it.
Israel is in trouble. ofc, not as much trouble as Gazan children who havent yet learned their names, but trouble nonetheless.

Was that Twitter post claiming it was houthi homegrown tech? Just assumed it was Iranian.
I'm not racist. I don't care who the information is coming from, but so far it hasn't come out yet.
lol
as I have posted many times, the Palestinians have been saying it for almost a year. but they dont count to people like yourself. hell, even the Israelis say it, as the tweet just showed. but somehow someway you find that its ok if they celebrate stealing babies.

I admit no expertise on this topic, but I would be very surprised if the Houthis had homegrown ballistic missile tech.
FWIW:

"Boaz Shapira, a researcher at the Alma Center, says that this missile is a known entity - the Iranian Kheibar missile. According to him, it was previously presented under the names Hatem and Palestine and it can fly at a speed of up to Mach 16."

Palestinians count as people, I've never done anything to suggest otherwise.
I just reread the tweet and nowhere does it say that they systematically pry children from their parents or legal guardians and brainwash them like Russia is doing. I'll stand by my initial assessment that anyone trying to draw this comparison shows their own hypocrisy more than they point it out, since so far there isn't much evidence that this is actually happening.
In the event it is happening, I certainly won't be celebrating it, I will be condemning it as I already stated and as I already did in Ukraine since I believe that is not something which should happen to anyone. It's a shame not everyone feels that way.
