2025 MLB Season Thread

Iām in Colorado for a few days and decided to check out Coors Field and watch game one of double header. It was like watching a little league team
The Rockies have lost 32 games this season and only 3 have been by 1 run. So 29 of their losses have been by 2 or more runs. The juice is getting ridiculous betting them -1.5 runs, and occasionally they win.
But a nice profit so far.... says the guy who bet them over 58.5 wins for the season. :p I thought they had some nice young players that could hit the baseball and would be a surprise team. Nice to be wrong and still profit.
To expand on my "it was like watching a little league team" re: the Rockies:
Multiple errors during between innings warm ups. Like the 1st basemen would throw it to the SS and he would boot it. Maybe this happens more than we know it because this part of the game isn't televised....but I kinda doubt it.
And on a hit to the RF the runner holds at 3rd (because it's already a rout) and the 1B misses catching the simple cutoff so the ball rolls to the C and he somehow can't handle this ball that is rolling at 4MPH so it gets by him and the guy on 3rd trots home. That one was incredible.
Bud Black is a good manager, but he has to be completely mentally defeated as an old man having to go through basic drills before every home game to try to get something resembling a big league team on the field. Rox have said many times how much they appreciate him, but just mutually part ways just for any chance that a fresh face may get the young guys slightly more locked in.

Judge leads league in Hits, BA, TB, OBP, SLG OPS, HR (tie) and RBI. Second in Runs
Triple Crown has obvs been done. Wondering if that plus Hits and TB has ever been done?
was just on Bonds' Baseball Ref and despite some truly mind boggling years inc 9 years leading league in OPS and twice leading league in BA, he never won Triple Crown and never combined BA and TB
Ted Williams got very close in 1942 and was potentially more impressive with Runs, HR, BA, OPS, TB and BB, but not total hits
Triple Crown + hits + total bases has been done.
Carl Yastrzemski 1967. Joe Medwick 1937. Chuck Klein 1933. Rogers Hornsby 1922. Heinie Zimmerman 1912. Ty Cobb 1909. Nap Lajoie 1901.
this 9th inning padres bullpen collapse tonight is....something
Looks like Oswaldo Cabrera broke his ankle scoring on a sac fly. Left in an ambulance.
Oof not good.

In the last twenty years, only two MLB teams have finished the season worse than -300 runs, with the As being the worst at -339 in 2023. The Rockies are on pace for an astonishing -516.
Not sure if this is the place to post this but the ban on Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson and several other people was lifted. They are now eligible for the HOF.
Vote on players is in winter 2027 so 2+ more years of what will surely be brand new takes on the subject.
In a historic, sweeping decision, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday removed Pete Rose, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and other deceased players from Major League Baseball's permanently ineligible list.
I knew this dickhead would wait till Rose died to make him eligible.
We used to have a poster here named Gary Wise that made the most compelling anti-Pete Rose HOF case.
I was always of the opinion of letting the best players in, even if they weren’t saints,
But I found his arguments persuasive. When I have time, I’ll see if I can dig them up.

Feel free to discuss here. If you guys want, can make a new thread for it also. Either way is cool with McMuffin.

100% total dickhead
What is the procedure now for Rose getting into the Hall? Does MLB/Commissioner's Office review the case on its own, or does someone have to submit an appeal on Rose's behalf? After all, the ban was for life ... not for eternity.
Well, my first reaction was "beautiful." For Pete, Shoeless Joe, etc. I see Manfred is taking serious flack over his handling of it. Gotta agree it would have been a fabulous event for Rose live at the Cincy ballpark. Priceless. Never gonna happen.
So I guess this is like Manfred pissing on his grave, not with urine, but with excellence?
Well I gotta admit I wasn't expecting him to bounce way back over the line again. Unreal heater. Of course it is more than just a heater, it's utter dominance, Bonds-like. But I don't think he can possibly be fundamentally that good, as Bonds, as his hitting against strong pitching seems to indicate. So part awesomeness and part super-heater, it seems.
Having watched almost every Judge at bat this year, his K-rate and BB-rate both went down.
He's much more aggressive in the strike zone and not letting strikes go by. He also seems to have shortened his swing a bit. He's got less of an uppercut and is hitting line drives all over the field.
Of course his BABIP is insane but it's not undeserved. When you hit the ball harder than anyone else it finds more holes.
Obviously I don't think he'll hit .400 all year but he's very live to end up at .350 with a triple crown. Since last May he's now got a full season hitting over .360. It's no longer a small sample.

Manfred is a complete POS
Rose is a pedophile who spent years betting on baseball and never showed remorse.
I'd let every steroid user in the Hall before Rose.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Red Sox, you just got BAEZ'D
All hail Tuma
I have no idea how you're supposed to sleep after an insane endgame like that.
