Universally acclaimed art/artists...that just don't do it for you
For me: Bob Dylan.
I just don't get it, no matter how hard I've tried. Sure, the lyrics are interesting, but except for a handful of songs, they mostly bore me musically.
And although I will listen to a few of his songs if they happen to come on the radio, I have never willingly put on a Bob Dylan song or album.

Seriously, what is this crap?
I've seen better art on the walls of a middle school hallway.

What are yours?
i used to love his stuff but then rewatched some of it during covid and didn't find him funny anymore - still loved a lot of what he said though politically speaking
I don't share a lot of his opinions, but that's not what annoys me. It's that he doesn't let the jokes speak for themselves. I tend to shy away from that kind of stuff in the arts but not always. The bigger problem is that he seems to lack modesty and looks down on those who disagree. Too angry.
Cardi B
I've felt nostalgic for things that were before my time, so I can imagine what it was like. Those guys paved the way for the stand-up explosion of the 80s, and I will give Carlin credit for pushing boundaries and being really good at what he did, but as I've gotten older, a lot of the jokes stopped landing.
About being there: It's funny I put Nirvana on my list. I grew up during the grunge craze, was just getting into music when Nevermind came out and going into high school around the time their popularity peaked. I wore a green cardigan sweater like Kurt, read every book or magazine article I could find on them, and learned just about every one of their songs on guitar. I looooved Nirvana. Over the years, I lost interest, and now they're a turn-off. I don't want to be too critical of them, but from a lyrical standpoint, I think he was pretty bad. Some of the 90s bands I grew up listening to don't do it for me anymore, and a lot of the music I like from that era is stuff I didn't care for at the time. In my opinion, it's the second best decade for music (at least the first half) after the 60s.
It is good to see that the highly successful acclaimed artist that has been untouchable here in this thread so far is the brilliant:
Spoiler
Taylor Swift
I do think she's a great songwriter
Pryor is great. Carlin loses me because he's so preachy. I like his observational jokes about looking at your watch and not knowing what time it is, or having too much stuff, but when he gets political, it comes off as pompous.
Both are fine. But holding up Carlin as some sort of philosopher is annoying. And he is preachy.

Swift's "All Too Well" is a beautiful song. I also love her Folklore album quite a bit.
I really liked Swifts first couple of albums but really dislike most of the newer stuff.
She has a cute mouth…….
Doja Cat is awful
As an old man pretty much anything from the last 20 years. But they are so off my radar I don't know enough about them to say I don't like them.
The Doors.
Spoiler
and Oliver Stone, for that matter.
I was being sarcastic about Taylor songs. I listen but they go in one ear and out the other without registering anything. No offense.
