Latest. Landlord terminated all leases where I live. We have until Feb 1st to move. I'm going to miss my ocean view, which may be the best in RI. Took me three days to find another place, which is really tough around here since most of the rentals are for nine months. I was able to find a condo to rent year-round in the same town, furnished (I don't have furniture and didn't wa
February seems soon. Don't they need to give more notice than that? Anyway glad you found a new place, hope you like it.
I agree, seems as if they should give you more time. Happy that you were able to find a good place on such short notice.
I think you'll like walking to work too.

Month to month lease, but I could fight it if I wanted to. In RI, and probably elsewhere, seniors are to be given 60 days notice even on a month to month lease.

I hope you like your new digs. (Interesting word.) I think you may enjoy having a 5-minute walk to work more than you suspect. I once had the same situation and loved it.
The walk to work might help. If I have a seizure, I can't drive for six months, so that five minute walk will allow me to keep working.

senior?
thought you already graduated college
I carry mine with me at all times.
Zipper on the outer shell of my winter coat started acting up yesterday. Looked around a little online, didn't see anything I liked. Then, a cuople things occurred to me:
- I might be able to get it replaced
- I have another winter coat in the closet from my Antarctica trip
On the way up to the dry cleaners to check if they could fix it, I decided $50 would be my top end for repair. Got up there, explained to Clara what's going on. She said they could fix it, then went to create my ticket.
$49.99. Perfect!

Antarctica trip? I am intriuged. What does one so and see in Antarctia (other than snow and ice). Would you recommend?
I don't get to visit Antarctica as often as I'd like.
Very relieved to rent a condo in the same area I am now. All my close friends live within a half hour and two within five minutes. To give you an idea of how expensive rents are around here, I saw a one bedroom, 500 sq. ft. apartment, third floor, unfurnished, going for $2,700.
If I didn't have family and friends here in RI, I would retire and move somewhere much less expensive, like North Carolina. Or Portugal.[emoji848]
I don't know how families and younger people manage these days.

For example,
"Is anyone looking for a room on the island? I have an unfurnished spare room in my apartment, the rest of the apartment is fully furnished. Rent would be $1450."

Starts post #94.
Yes, I would recommend. I went with a company called Tauck, they made it a great experience. I know there are several other providers, at varying levels of comfort or not. Everything was fine with my rooms and the ship, but I don't need much. I thought they were all nice, but I'm generally a Super 8 kinda guy--just need clean and safe.
You can see the stuff we saw and did, but Cliffs: Got a day and a half around Buenos Aires, then flew down to Ushuaia. Walked around in the rain until it was time to get on the boat.
A few days across the Drake Passage, then sailed around the Antarctic peninsula. Each day, they'd try to do a morning and afternoon onshore excursion, weather permitting.
I got exceptionally lucky with the weather. Except the last day, heading back north, it was sunny and ~40F. Unusually warm for there, pleasant for us.
Also got very lucky that the retinal tear didn't occur til March when I was back home.
One thing I'd recommend looking into, if you have the resources of time and money, is going to Iguassu Falls on the Argentina/Brazil border instead of flying straight back. It really is breathtaking. It's further along in the blog.
Not sure if that's the sort of side trip that can just tacked on, or if you'd have to do back-to-back tours.

curious where you think when saying portugal
our experience began and consists of a long haul bus ride from seville to faro while avoiding excesivo rental car crossing country border fees before leaving dusts of gibraltar and tangier for another trip instead driving the algarve peninsula sleeping in lagos next morning ripping audi a2 insurance policies toll free up toward lisbon
to only discover at the calatrava train station next leg porto reservations did not inclued seats when our two couples had to stand for over three hours aside our baggage in the connecting compartment
we did not go further north from there nor up the duro
Thank you, John. I appreciate the compliment.
I can't recall ever seeing a rainbow in the water, but I guess it makes sense. Water molecules refracting the light, if you're at just the right angle.
Nice photo. Looks kinda like Ireland with that stone wall and the sea?

Yes. The Dingle Peninsula in Ireland. You have a good eye.
I'm going to try to travel a couple times this summer, but probably not to Antarctica.

I'd driven around Dingle when I went to Ireland. I wonder if I was in that same area.
hmmm....do they not have rainbows over the water in RI? In Florida, it's quite common.
Reached out today and he called me back tonight. We hadn't communicated since 1978 and tonights phone call was like the last time we talked was yesterday. It couldn't have gone any better! Since I am in Chicago and he is in Milwaukee we will definitely be getting together sometime soon.
If you have someone in your life you have lost contact wih give AI a try you may be surprised at how efective it is at finding someone.
mrb, that is great! Glad you were able to reconnect.
John, can't remember exactly where I went. Kinda west from Dingle town, then looped around a bit.
I have seen small ones several times but not one like that.
As for Antarctica:
