Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm."

They don't require property owners to shovel the sidewalks within a day of a snow?

Apparently not here where I would need to walk. It was mandated when I lived in Providence.

Newport's narrow streets are terrible when it snows over a few inches.

Random fact: Saint Charles Borromeo is the patron saint of obesity and dieting.

Who knew?

Man, I love me a good breakfast burrito. The perfect food.

I don't care if this is AI one bit. This breathtaking picture is one of the best I've seen in a very long time.

Derivative of Ralph Steadman, Stanley Mouse, and Arik Roper imo.

From Poem of the Day

It's almost haiku-like

The Pond

Amy Lowell

Cold, wet leaves
Floating on moss-coloured water
And the croaking of frogsβ€”
Cracked bell-notes in the twilight.

Funny how as I age I like the NFL less but hate college hoops more.

Often done wrong, but when done right, hard to beat. Amy’s made a great vegan one, but they discontinued it, along with everything else they made that was any good.

Ezra Pound Imagist movement set the tone for early modernist poetry. Amy Lowell was a well known poet who popularized Imagist poetry in America. Pound disliked Lowell's version of Imagist poetry, labeling it "Amygism."

Here's Pound famous Imagist poem:

"In a Station of the Metro"

The apparition of these faces in the crowd:
Petals on a wet, black bough.

I really like the idea of imagery, and using it in writing. The classical haiku poets, and by this I mean Basho, used exquisite descriptions of natural objects to convey everything.

But once somebody attaches an -ism to a word, it has received its death knell.

Lots of stuff going on here in mid February!

Pitchers and catchers reported this week!
Yesterday was Lincolns birthday
Today is Friday the 13th
Tomorrow is Valentines Day
Monday is Presidents Day
Wednesday is Ash Wednesday

Seems too early for pitchers and catchers but bring it on! Can't wait for baseball season πŸ˜€

honestly, also not born yesterday, your pitch about catchers chasing for these horrible throws in training camp crystalizes my like of the matter

Tomorrow is Valentines Day
Monday is Presidents Day
Wednesday is Ash Wednesday

you surprisingly lobbed that one up too easy so i took a pass on it

How come it's always "Valentine's Day", except when it's the "Saint Valentine's Day Massacre"?

saint derives from the latin sanctus, meaning 'holey'

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Interestingly (or not?) I am about half way through a binge rewatch of Treme which I started this weekend. I hadn't watched it since it originally aired and I am really enjoying it. I didn't think about it when I started the rewatch but it is maybe the only show that has tons of Fat Tuesday content πŸ˜€

David Simon belongs in the TV hall of fame (if there is one?). He wrote and produced some epic stuff. Treme is not considered a really top tier HBO show but damn it is extremely entertaining. The music is just awesome

lazy lay bum temp rulers
hey cajun folk did i come up anywhere close

have a hunch one of many broader audience challenges Treme still recovers from is Simon authentically representing his 'understanding it may sting' actual catastrophic event portrayal and how bush league white housers still tried to claim a w yet becoming number to compassion after witnessing endless blood red Katrina crosses painted upon doors which otherwise would be opening perpetual memories of family dinners together while still trying to construct ways to blame the dykes

no matter how enthralling the characters or music
many locals want to forget their lived horrors while others deploy their special edition elephant in the roomba to magically sweep all things annoying under the closest rug while neighbors scrape mud off their roof

I have very mixed emotions about Katrina. It basically was the highlight of my trading career. At the time I was trading the ICE lots (Intercontinental exchange natural gas) versus the mini Natural Gas futures at the NYMEX. It was a brand new arbitrage trade and I was basically the only person in the world doing it at the time. Personally I was responsible for about 30 to 40% of the ICE lots volume. It was basically printing money. Eventually others caught on and the trade dried up but I made a boatload. I felt guilty and donated thousands to the Red Cross for Katrina. Between Katrina and Rita the natural gas market went nuts and the arb trade was off the charts and I was in position to profit. Didn't ask or hope for it but it happened and I was there.
