Koanajimi has reported a post.

Reason: This guy keeps derailing one of the most important threads (GG superuser scandal) by constantly advertising his books

His books have no relation to the topic and people keep responding to it too. There were 2 full pages I had to skip because of Malmuth and the people responding to him

Yeesh, the J2 hand is giving me flashbacks to the final hand of the POTRIPPER tournament.

I found this (and your chapter) interesting to read for its own sake. My mathematics and statistics skills are relatively elementary for a poker player, though, so I don't how you'd determine that standard deviation independent of winrate. I guess one simple check is just to see when the actual winnings deviate highly from the expected all-in EV; that's an obvious way to determine if the person is lucky rath

Posters get upset when I say this, but when the expanded edition of my gambling theory book comes out there’s a chapter in it that explains how to calculate the maximum likelihood estimate for the standard deviation, and when this book is published in about a month there will be a free kindle give away.

well ... my intention was not to insult / question a person but to discuss some of your views and attitudes to help you personally

obviously you were not ready for that kind of interaction and just came up with a bunch of insults which you keep throwing and which I don't honestly identify myself a lot with

10 years of professional poker surely changes a person to more cynical direction I'm in no denial about it but everyone needs to do some work unless coming from some rich country / family

you sound like a young idealistic person a bit like Greta Thurnberg , having a lots of things over your heart yet not being able to somehow address just about anything in a logical grown up way (there is extremely hard to pick any kind of red-line of logical thinking from your posts that are very long and emotion driven)

I'm just an ordinary Joe, being a good father to my kids a good son to my elderly parents a good husband to my wife is enough to me. Simple life aligned with my heart I have no needs to tell if some coach is bad / good / complain if people take advantage if I would put my time to them for free .

Take your time few years onward you will likely be in a better place. Take care my friend!

I don't think it's so bad even if (as was shown true) you are sharing outs with the other caller, because then you know you will get paid off if you hit the flush. If no one else makes a worse flush, you may have no implied odds.

You can bluff river. All the big hands on the flop are still big hands after river.

Going to add a few more topics into this blog including:

-Matched Betting - seems to be a decent way to make a extra few hundred every month or two and the process seems pretty straight forward. UK seems to be the best location for this so why not take advantage.

-Daily Fantasy Sports- Found out that the UK has draftkings and I being in the UK, I don't get my sports fix as much as I want to since the NBA is always played at really late hours. I have deposited $250 US and am going to be playing $1 H2H and .1/.25 Contests w/ GTD $. Focusing on MLB and Late NBA. I have a NBA API but need an MLB api so I can code up a starter model.

-Extra income on the internet - going to be experimenting with a bunch of ideas bounced off in a subreddit I found. Will post results.

That said - new week lets get it. Gym then tourney grind in a few hours.

FWIW I folded AQo pre to a TAGs 25$ SB open w/ BTN straddle on to 6$ today. So I'm not a total fish.

I didn't say you were a total fish. This second situation is closer and maybe not a fold.

by nootaboos k

NFI what you are saying tbh.

What hand do you think is a good bluffing candidate if not a hand like this?

by nootaboos k

I feel that if Berri has any decent draw like a high wrap high FD he is barreling this turn like probably 1 million % of the time.

Does this mean that amso should not bluff river? How could that theoretically work?

by nootaboos k

and amso blocks a bunch of the avg AF straight draws and also holds the 8h.

He doesn't, since he doesn't hold J/T. He doesn't hold 8h, nor is that relevant.

He happened to have KQ here. My bet is he'd have played 55, 66, 77, 99, and maybe even TT the same way. He might bluff the river with his busted draws when you check.

Ordinarily, I'd agree with the others, about starting off with a flop check OOP, but I don't love it here, with 99-JJ, on a somewhat wet board. Our hand could benefit from some protection, and we can get value from a lot of V's range, which seems like it can be pretty wide, based on our read. Any heart, board pair, or 9 through A on the turn, and we'll be forced into defense mode.

That said, if we are going to c-bet here, I think we should go bigger, and over-bet turn. If we played it that way, then, yeah, I'd check river, because we're either up against better that ain't folding, or up against worse that ain't calling, but might bluff.

AP, betting 1/2 pot on flop and turn, we're just trying to get looked up by unbelieving worse pairs, so I'd just keep betting, even if it means we value-own ourselves against KQo. He'll call with worse often enough that I'm not worried about getting looked up by QX. Occasionally he'll fold some QX and we'll end up bluffing without realizing it.

Nice one. The WSOP main must be the highest EV 10k in the world so winning a package for $250 is the nuts. Good luck in Vegas

deep breaths.

It was closed for 1 single day and then reopened under new management. And for good reason it was infested with the absolute worst sort of group think.

Research shows that people with personalities that fall in the the extremes also have politics that fall in to the extremes. They also have higher instances of mental health issues

As you can see, our local communist just had a little meltdown and equated my single quoting of a poster to "buddying up with a mass murder supporter" or whatever attack they could loosely tie together in in some unhinged way

And if history has shown anything, I'm the problem, according to those in charge

This is just wrong. What is the difference between rebuying in the current tournament and waiting for a new tournament with the same buyin and structure to start and registering for that? Answer - there is no difference. Therefore whether it’s a rebuy or freeze out tournament has no bearing on whether the decision is theoretically correct or not.

Obviously non-poker factors can come into play. If it’s a once in a lifetime shot at playing a WSOP ME and you took time off work, booked flights and h

This, with the obvious qualification of ICM considerations as the money approaches. (Third hand in, ICM is essentially a non-issue; chip EV is what matters.)

Nice work jumping to 10nl. Keep it up and don’t get complacent

Just realized I never posted results. He had 44. Painful.

I don’t know if I was tired, or just leaning too heavily on my read that V was not much of a bluffer, but I folded my straight.

UTG+2 called all-in with 5d3d and missed the river.

Do you two have history? Why are you giving him such a hard time? He seems sincere in asking the forum for advice and sharing his story; Not sure anything he said deserves this level of criticism.

definitely projecting a lot of my own personal experiences with others but often a few years before full on mania appears, it's exhibited via shopping behavior

ie someone wants a jean jacket because they will wear it once or twice a year, they know they'll wear it once or twice a year, but then can't decide which one to get so they buy 7 of them, knowing fully well that it's incredibly unlikely more than 1-2 will ever actually be worn outside of the house and even then only worn 2-3 times a year

this wouldn't be a big problem, but there's already no more storage space left in the closet because this isn't the first time a cycle like this occurred, before it was leather pants and cashmere sweaters

someone who clearly can't afford to just dust off 10k just did that in a very indirect route through a series of emotionally driven and ill thought out decisions

I definitely didn't go about it in the correct manner but op is 100% not exhibiting "watch connoisseur" behavior but instead compulsive buying behavior, which is often a precursor to much more severe mental health issues down the road

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article...

he was turning it into a flex of look at these cool things I've had, which is what is done in every situation of CBB, hence why they do it, they are focused on what they once possessed not the consequences and irrationality of it all and he's clearly just getting started with it all

in this case he did the rare thing and resold them because of financial restrictions and clearly is just going to rinse and repeat with lower cost ones until he's finally broke or moves onto "the government is listening to me through my watch" in which he throws them all in the gutter

it's important in these situations not to enable and normalize this behavior but hope they see the flaws in their thinking and seek help at an early stage

thanks, really appreciate it

i saw the shark tank last time i was there because there's a dope Korean bbq and Korean market in that stripmall - it's quite close to where I stayed last time but had a bunch of sports bets I needed to hit so focused on hollywood

Has anyone tried Treasure Island recently? They don't post to Bravo. They say the room opens at 12pm. But when do the games actually start?

Also how small is the room?

Was thinking of going on an upcoming Friday this month.

in two days of playing 4x times after beating someone in a pot they moved to sit on my direct left lol

only played hollywood, went twice, was the same people both times, seems like everyone knew each other really well

AQ? All in pre!
