rs-poker, the longest maintained and #2 most downloaded poker crate on crates.io, is nearing a v3.0.0 release. We need your help to finalize the exciting release. This release contains a working poker arena for `Agents to test strategy and see who comes out on top. Do you think you can create the most Game Theory Optimal poker bot? Then this release is for you. This release also contains several performance improvements and bit-level sets for embedding into stack-allocated structs.

Long Term:

In the long term, the plan is to solve poker like chess. I have some ideas, and I know of no other open-source attempts.

We need:

  • Any help fixing PR: https://github.com/elliottneilclark/rs-p... This will bring the ability to simulate multi-way multi-side pot CFR GTO play for a given set of cards.
  • Documentation examples and fixes.
  • Tournament implementations. Simulations in which stacks and seats are kept constant throughout play until everyone is knocked out.
  • Hand history parsers for major active sites
  • Performance fixes: We have benchmarks and reasonable performance on core components, but more help is always needed.
  • More poker agents. Random agents are nice, but if agents play GTO or exploitative, that would be awesome.
  • Omaha. It's almost exclusively holdem right now.

More

Let me know what you would want in an open-source poker library.

Easy call with their stack sizes imo, occasionally one of them will have a higher pair but given the stack sizes UTG could have something like A5s or even worse and CO could be rejamming with any two big cards. They also could have some of each other's outs. With under 10 BBs the opportunity to triple up is too good to miss.

Now, if UTG shoves 20 BBs and CO rejams something like 50, even as short as you are this is almost certainly a fold.

So, his name translates: R U Sick I F*k You? And we wonder just how someone like that could be a thief?

Calling $10 from the SB vs. BTN raise is a mistake, especially with an aggressive villain still to act in the BB. If you have reads on BTN then KJs can be an easy 3bet vs. BTN raise.

As played, I would have xr flop vs. BB’s half pot bet, and absolutely would have xrai the turn when BB bets again.

2/5 NLHE about 800 eff table, 1200 eff with V. 8 handed.

I'm playing tighter pre as there's a lot of 3-betting, 4-betting and so on going on. People are 3-betting KTo, K7s, and cold 4-betting hands like KJs and A2s.

by submersible k

in random 1/3 game you are going to make money calling here pre because ... blinds won't squeeze often enough

I guess I could again say "I also wouldn't mind calls some of the time, if the table wasn't 3bet happy."

However, if it would be for example in high stakes forum, it would be in more fitting place.

We don't have a high stakes forum anymore. The one online poker strategy forum we still have is almost exclusively occupied by micro stakes players because a public forum hasn't been a setting for discussing high stakes hands in well over a decade.

The high stakes thread has historically been in NVG because it was basically a high stakes fan thread with occasional participation from high stakes players. Did that change?

i've tried reading this thread and prospecti but still have no idea what's going on here. if both indices being compared are cap weighted, the proportion of NVDA to AAPL/MSFT held across the funds should not materially differ, but it does (1:4 XLK, 1:2 SPY as of sep 23). can someone explain what is happening in plain english

by DeeKayBee k

Explain, please, why you 3B to 8bb?

He never explains.

Yo! I would like to build a PC for poker, and probably some AAA/demanding gaming one day (but have enough to play non-demanding games in the meantime, and be able to run several poker clients on a 4k screen), so it's a config without GPU : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VjhVXk

I would have liked to spend 600-700eur and I end up with twice that 😃 Where can I save money? Did I pick anything dumb? For example, is a PCIe 5 SSD an overkill? Given the write speeds I thought that for poker DBs it would be better, and more and more games should support this format (therefore shorter loading times), I don't know if that's a valid reasoning.

The CPU is ~400 eur, and the motherboard 250 eur (but it seems to me that I can't get a cheaper one if I have DDR5 RAM/PCIe 5 SSD). The tower is not essential, but since it might be a very visible object in my room, I'm willing to pay 2x the normal price (for that in any case).

The budget is not necessarily a maximum budget but a budget that I can exceed if the return on investment is OK, like paying double for a processor if it is 2x better for my use that suits me, but not if I spend the double for 10% more gains, you get the idea, if it's beyond my budget I'd like to avoid components with diminishing returns, and it's valid for almost all components (except the tower as that's super subjective).

Thank you!

I would just 3bet both of them. I personally feel that cold-calling flop raises is usually pretty dumb. We just telegraph our hand strength/type for no good reason.

In the first hand, the only reasonable combos that beat us are 99, 77, 33, and 97s... 12 combos total.

In the second hand, BB can have QQ and the limper can have plenty of stupid 9x. There are going to be approximately twice as many combos that beat us on the paired board. So the second board is indeed scarier, but I still don't see what flatting accomplishes.

As mentioned above, unfortunately H2N3 does not support bomb pots. There is no way to get such hands to import correctly.

Maybe your friend is using some third-party converter, but this question should be checked with him. Unfortunately, we have no information about such converters.

A Vlogger, Wolfgang, just invested in Poker House-FW, so I would assume he did some homework and that room is legit.

Unless he invested in multiple rooms, you're mistaken. The room that I know he invested in is The Fort, located on the west side of Fort Worth. I've never been to Poker House FW though, so it's possible he invested in both, but I doubt it.

I still love you, Billy.

I have never seen the thumbs up/down options here, is that only on mobile or something?

edit: not on my mobile, maybe is the skin i chose

editedit: it's the skin. Hey thanks for sharing that picture, I had no idea what you guys were talking about lol

I would typically advise to simplify your strategy by not playing any cold calls from any position other than the BB, especially with the rake being as high as it is at 2NL. You can deviate from this if you have fish in the blinds but even then I would still rather 3 bet AQo as it has quite mediocre equity realisation in a multiway pot and plays much better in a heads up 3 bet pot.

Flop is fine.

Bet the turn as played. You can still get called by lots of Ax/worse 2 pair/pair + draw.

I would raise bigger vs the 25% river probe and fold to the shove as played.

^ thanks this makes a lot of sense. Definitely not seeing a lot of 3b/f in practice.

This is going to be very villain specific. This is a fold vs most.

When you say he gets out of line does that mean hes just playing loose or does he like to make big bluffs a lot?

A lot of wild players will play any 2 preflop but once they start piling money in they are a lot narrower.

I snap call if hes a guy that likes to make big bluffs frequently

He doesn't mean that BTN would have more J9 or JJ because he is somehow dealt more of those hands. He means that if BB has a hand like 97 (which obviously does not contain a jack) and is raised, BTN often has a value raise containing a jack, thus it's not possible to bet-3bet 97 for value.

A player can have way more hand xx in many spots, not because he is dealt that hand more often (that is impossible), but due to the actions in the hand.

Re: Posting results, noted. Learning the ropes here.

Re: Flop bet sizing. I’ve had this incorrect (now noted) thinking that on flops with a a vulnerable made hand, I should bet big to get draws to fold or call at a very expensive price. But it makes sense that draws and mediocre pairs calling a smaller flop bet should be ok by me. And with the possibility of being checkraised on the flop, my flop bet should be smaller.

What if I only had a pot-sized stack left after the flop, would it then ma

Couple points to clarify...

1. C-bets on monotone flops should be smaller in general, because opponents will tend to over-fold to larger bets on scary boards.

2. It would be different if we flopped TP on a two-tone, somewhat connected flop, something like KQ8tt. There, we can bet KX larger for value and protection. It doesn't make sense to bet large when our hand could already be beat, and our opponents aren't likely to fold a big draw to a single bet.

In this hand, checking back flop is fine, too. But if we c-bet, it should be smaller, just because it is a monotone board.

It wouldn't make sense to go all in with KTo. That hand is to weak to jam for value, and too strong to jam as a bluff. If you're jamming, it should be with the nuts, or a bluff that blocks the nuts and / or some of your opponent's calling range, something like AhKx or AhQx - both block V from having the nut flush and block some of V's better TP combos.

FK held the 5th Sunday $500 on the 4th Sunday! How did I miss that? With Easter coming this weekend it was probably a good move on their end for both Players and Dealers. 268 entries, 30 paid with a 3-way chop after Midnight of $18k each .. more than 2nd place would've been.

MSPT Sattys have started on Saturdays .. Noon Qualifiers and 6pm direct Sattys

Where are you from?

Your sarcasm is noted. I scrolled through some of your recent posts in an attempt to ascertain where someone as bereft of iq points as you relative to myself might reside, and I note many Vegas-centric posts. Enjoy libertarian dystopia and a forever-dry Lake Mead, moron.

In this scenario, a high WTSD percentage might also suggest that opponents are adapting to your aggressive tendencies by attempting to bluffcatch you more frequently.

That could of course also be true. Especially since I am playing reg tables.
