Can we stop quoting the white knights on here that don’t even watch diesel episodes, it bypasses the ignore function. Sure, diesel is good at winning barely enough money at a poker table to survive, but without a doubt his technical poker skills are abysmal.
Anyone that actually watches diesel videos and hears him discuss hands know he’s terrible. Going nuts with two pair on straightening boards calling them coolers,, saying straddling is bad, and then last year when he discovered iso-raising in California and he talked about it like he discovered sliced bread lol.

His food selection is hilarious. The guy focuses on min-maxing every single thing in his life, one of his only worldly possessions is a rice cooker, yet he loads up his buffet with plain white rice instead of getting all meat and sides and making rice at home.
And for someone who is so proud of being a New Yorker, those bagels were absolutely disgusting.
There's so many things that el diesel is bad at but poker is actually one of the things he does well. Pretty much the same here. I have a career that I love and play for fun and make about 7bbs per hour doing it, plus promotions money. I watch pretty much everyone's vlogs and enjoy the variety. I don't want to watch only vlogs produced by Andrew, Brad, Ethan, Mariano Brantzen, Lex-O, Jaman, Daniel, and Wolfgang. I like the ones that are less professional in nature as well. Variety is the spice of life.
Or he has maxed out his potential in poker. Moving up to 2-5 would require him to improve his play but his brain wont allow him to think improvement is necessary.
Just look at his buffet to-go box. He thinks he packed it perfectly with no possibility of a better selection of food or how its packed. It was the best possible way to do it. He was giddy with excitement to share his expertise.
Like his idol Timmy, they both stopped learning at about 24 years of age.

There is a correlation between Trooper/Diesel/Bikeking/Pman and their struggles at the lowest limit NL games. It's the inability to hear constructive criticism and process whether it's actually good information. They all just blow it off and will do things their ways only either because they think they have it all figured out or this no one tells me what to do attitude.
While there is nothing wrong with wanting to do things your way, you have to objectively realize how you do some things may not be optimal. None of these guys think that especially Diesel.
It's no wonder they are where they are in life.
If Diesel had any ounce of humility, he would be a lovable character with quirks and a weird approach to life. Instead, he gets upset when anyone challenges him to anything he does and brushes it off as them being miserable people. In the same breath, he claims no one yet been able to debate him. It's easy to think that when instead of debating your points, you just think you're right and the other guy is miserable for even trying to debate the mighty Diesel. If Diesel's vlog was just a huge level, it would be one thing. But anyone that has played with him knows this is the true and accurate Diesel and that quite frankly is scary.
Without this vlog, I would still be packing a box with the bagels and meats at the bottom then pile in the rice on top and wonder why rice is spilling out everywhere during transport.
Also what are the odds that those metal spoons were taken from a buffet? As conscious as he is about the environment, I'm surprised he doesn't have a bag full of actual silverware from the MGM buffet and just drop off the used utensils while picking up a clean set.

Correct. The thing is bc of variance in poker people can convince themselves they're just running bad. Trooper and Nomad are great at this despite getting good constructive advice and totally ignoring it.
I can understand this initially. But after 6 months or a year of struggling you think theyd get a little humble and want to actually get better.
You don't have to be a wizard to crush low stakes NL. But When you hear these guys discussing hand histories ,crying about standard hands and in Nomad's case not understanding why he never gets paid off with monsters against big stacks but does against 50 dollar stacks it's clear they don't understand NL at even a decent level.

Of all the items he could get from the buffet that he doesn't normally get to eat on a daily basis. Yet he maxes out on rice, 6 sausages and then 2 bagels with salami. The things that he already eats all the time, rice and processed sausage meat.

So much this. And all despite dominating academics for 20 years. Just picturing Rice "dominating academics" in kindergarten and pre-school makes me laugh.
He was trying to explain that rice overflowing situation, and I was lost. Thankfully he used a water on the table analogy, and it cleared everything up for me.

Yeah sure you can say that past results don't necessarily reflect your current ability but shouldn't we see those stats before making the assumption? The figure he showed us was based off of thousands of hours of poker, his recent results are from 2 vlogs probably less than 40 hours of play. He’s basically a 1K chess elo equivalent; he knows AN opening and doesn’t give away pieces in obvious spots. 1k is fine if you’re simply playing for fun and it’s good enough to crush randoms on one of those giant piece sets at bars. It’s an insult for 1Ks to put themselves in the same category as people dedicating portions of their professional lives to chess. 10bb/hr is easy when there is a decent rake structure and you play against opponents who aren’t trying to win beyond a few moments of effort when the cards are actually in front of them.
Diesel should not be lumped in with trooper/bikeking/pman when it comes to poker as he is actually a winning player over thousands of hours.
Trooper/bikeking/pman just stops tracking and resets their counters as they're sure that they're winning players going through the worst downswing of all time.

I'm curious what actual pros would say about this.
Imo if you are winning 10bb/hour over a large sample size you are a crusher at that game.
It's easy to think your hourly is a certain amount if you play low volume and are on a heater, but with inevitable normal breakeven stretches and downswings it's going to bring down that average down.
Sample size matters when talking about hourly amounts, 10bb/hour playing 500 hours vs 2000 hours is a much different thing.

Some one that claims to be a pro that wins at a rate of below 5 bigs in the smallest game spread has some serious leaks and doesnt warrent respect.
Fact is he is unteachable and therefore effectively unhireable. I would not in a million years try to teach him how to play advantage blackjack and I have successfully taught my share of not super bright people.
His supreme arrogance makes him unteachable.
Rice already knows everything about everything. Anyone who says different is just a miserable loser who wastes their life earning too much money just so they can throw it away on things they don't really need like houses, cars, furniture, appliances and technology, vacations, nice meals, entertainment etc.
