What is so hard to understand about Hamas is not actually interested in permanent peace? They straight up tell us they are not relenting from their mission to eradicate Jews “river to the sea” and will repeat Oct 7 on a grander scale when able.

They are openly saying they just want to get a break, to get Israelis to pay for their reconstruction, and to resume the rapes and murders when able. How could you blame Israel for treating Hamas as an existing threat? How could you think they are serious about peace?

I'm skeptical. There almost certainly have been times when a nuclear power could have used nuclear weapons with little or no fear of nuclear retaliation but instead chose to put ground forces at risk.

No it's not bullshit. Exiting afganistan was a key part of the strategy - if there was no achievable end game then going in was a bad idea. This is generally true with military solutions. They are so easy to get into, everyone can sound really brave and tough, then they are an uncontrollable cluster **** and then you can't get out.

Military solutions need to have a clear achiveable objective. Not 'we must do something 'brave and tough' even if it's monstrously stupid and then blame everyone else.
