I want to say we just got talking about it and then made it happen, but honestly I really have no clue.
I have a vague recollection of APD deciding that since you got a promotion with the Air Force and you were posting about the what the title change was in German, he needed to give you a new title in German on 2+2.
@davomalvolio, quite possibly the worse decision you've posted here. Speaking as someone who had a knee replaced last year, the last thing she wants to find out is that you were playing poker while she is recovering from the surgery and you lied about it.
@squid, good luck to SPC.
Apologies if it was covered but wouldn’t you be better off looking for a new job? Even if we accept your pov that she’d rather not know before
Like…wouldn’t ‘I lost my job last week but I’ve made 25 applications and have 4 interviews lined up’ be a better recovery than ‘I lost my job last week and I’ve been playing poker since’
Like, imagine if you run bad and lost multiple buy ins?

Oh I have--I've applied for everything.

That sounds vaguely familiar. I recall it was Paddy's idea, and he gave me some guidelines (IIRC it had to mention fancy beer and be in German) and I gave him a few options.
Interview tomorrow! I might survive this after all!
The preamble to my Vegas trip report is up over in Las Vegas Lifestyle!
If you don’t check LVL very often, you should… there’s like 10 great Vegas trip reports running live right now.
Yeah davo, tell your wife dude, stop fuqin around
Which do you think is most true:
A. You are so annoying irl that your wife would prefer you go play poker all day instead of help her out when she's bedridden and probably in some of the worst pain of her life, other than her wedding day of course.
B. You are such a huge dick that you would rather lie and slink away to play poker than help you wife out when she's bedridden and probably in some of the worst pain of her life, other than her wedding day of course.
C. Your wife would really appreciate you sticking around the house when she's bedridden and probably in some of the worst pain of her life, other than her wedding day of course.
I’m running a multi-street life bluff for the next ten days: My mother-in-law is staying with us for ten days…I lost my job on Friday and have decided to keep it a secret from everyone—including my wife—until the mother-in-law leaves.)
My motives are actually pure-ish: my wife is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow, and I did not want her stressing over my losing yet another job (when she’s already so stressed over the surgery).
I’m hoping to hit my inside straight draw (ie, get a new job bef
Hope you have a real good handle on the insurance situation and how much / if it will cover of the surgery since you're no longer employed. You might get really lucky that you're covered till the end of the month of June (for many large companies) but you're gunna want to know that **** I'm an out.
(This is assuming yall were on your health plan and not hers.)

FWIW, they will give her OXY so the pain is manageable, at least in my experience from last year. In addition, I did it as a day surgery and I had to walk before they would release me. Now she won't be able to carry anything at first, but they won't let her be "bedridden."
I’d missed the MIL part.
My MiL is/was a mean **** who always looked for opportunities to subtly criticise me to my wife/ex wife. And I was a guy who made her daughter rich, worked really hard and gave her 3 healthy kids
Tough because she prolly thinks you’re a loser anyway given your ongoing job struggles and so will probably look to criticise even if you’re honest but the ‘he didn’t even tell you when…potential if you get busted could go on for a lifetime
And I do think the most important thing wives want (and husbands tbh) is honesty/transparency and to be seen as a proper partner. I do get the logic behind and opportunity for ‘he didn’t even tell me, he just went straight out and got another job and protected me from worry’. But on balance that can way more likely go wrong/be spun wrong
Took this photo of my friend yesterday. Big winter swell has come through here the past few days and we had 8-10 foot waves. (For the uninitiated that means approx 12-14 feet wave faces because you measure swell size from behind the wave for reasons too silly to go into)
Incredible to think you can take photos this good from a phone from 60 ish yards away
That's a good-sized wave, damn. We need more surfing pics itt.
That looks awesome but 60 feet is probably as close I’d get to the Australian waters. I’d be lucky if i only got stung by a man-o-war instead of ****ed by a blue ringed octopus.

As a mediocre surfer that is a big scary wave. Do you surf stuff that large Feely?
I now have two interviews for tomorrow (while my wife will still be in the hospital—she can come home tomorrow night), and one of them told me they are making a hiring decision on Wednesday (ie, the day after I interview).
I really might be able to pull this off.
They are both for absolute dogshit jobs, but compared to the alternative (wife leaving me, mother-in-law murdering me, etc), I can’t be too picky.

We’re on her insurance. I was the breadwinner at the start of our marriage, but she’s surpassed me.
My work life HAD been a model of stability. I worked for the same mortgage company for ten years before it went out of business! But since then it’s been an absolute ****-show.
I do not. Tbh I’m lapsed. I didn’t grow up here and so my surfing is/was very clunky because I learned at age 30. After a serious knee injury I stopped and getting it back has been ok the back burner. I love swimming in the ocean and bodysurfing and I’ll go out with the fins in deep water and bigish surf for that…but this would be suicidal to bodysurf in.
My son surfs and also does bodyboard comps and we are blessed to live by a brilliant surf beach. One of his mates who we’ve known since birth is probably the best under 14 surfer in the world and there’s a few other top 10 guys here too. Two world champs have grown up in my little suburb and Kelly Slater the goat surfer has a place here that he winters in
Here’s a picture of the lad from a comp a year or two back
Attempted to body board as a kid in Cape Cod but had no proper instruction and never really learned how to properly "catch" the wave to ride it.
My problem has always been getting out past the break. I could never master the "dip under the crest" technique and kept getting pushed back towards shore. Very frustrating and tiring.
FW - sweet shot of your kid getting at it!
