I love that Phil + dealer + table can't do math here

Always surprising when pros that have been around for decades don't know some of the more basic/common floor calls and rules.

Amazing he calls the ruling stupid when the floor got it right.

As I recall, Phil's math was correct. He was just confusing the dealer, which caused the mixup and the need to call the floor.

For that matter, was that dealer the same one who was having a helluva time counting out a quartered pot later in the night? I mentioned that if there is any hand with a main and side pot, someone should pull out a smartphone and take photos of the stacks before the cards are dealt – just so everyone has a save point to which to revert in case the chip counts are bungled.

We shall call it Men The Master All-in Protection.

This could literally be the best burn I've seen in my entire life. Absolutely genius. WP, Poker news updater.

How tf do you angle someone by mucking and losing 5k to them lol

Savage QTed this you say it was the right ruling and I saw many people saying **** like “So I can bluff all in and if my opponent doesn’t snap fold I can just muck my hand and get my bluff back?!?”

Yeah that was the same dealer having trouble quartering the pot.

Man, Mikita is having a rough year

I can see where Dnegs is coming from. Btn made a mistake on his own and didnt get punished for it. What if Dnegs was going to limp/ re raise? What if it was for more chips and not 2.6bb, like what if he went allin over the limp and Dnegs limped AA and was about to snap him off for a huge pot.

But on the other hand, I can see where not forcing the raise to stand could result in collusion and chip dumping.

It's often going to be quite obvious when someone is 3-betting a raise, vs someone just thinking they are opening vs the blinds. Also, the dealer should generally prevent this action of someone mucking when there is no action to them.

What if its less obvious what the intended action is?

What if Artur had 15-20bb and jammed and Dnegs limped with a monster? He is now just **** out of luck because Artur auto mucks after the blinds fold?

This is where I think floors should use some discretion. In this specific situation I think Dnegs should get the 8k, but I can also imagine a somewhat similar situation where he shouldn't so IDK.

Yes

My first table in the Seniors day 1A yesterday was in the cash area, and I had a very good view of the Kings Lounge, i.e., the cash game top section.

Admittedly it was late morning/mid-day on a Tuesday. but there was nothing happening. There could have been a game in the corner of the Kings Lounge where I could not see, but otherwise there were no games running. As the day progressed, they did start a couple of NL and PLO games, but I would have thought that there would be more -- if nothing else, then games that had lasted through the night.

There was plenty of action in the low-stakes cash game area.

A new thread could be started for 2024 WSOP PokerGo streaming if the mods want.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Or you know just revive the old thread

I mean he did lose the pot, that's something of a punishment and it's obviously a very clear mistake and not an angle in this particular situation.

Seems like Daniel is just frustrated at this point not sure how anyone can say this was a horrible ruling.

If he went all in and Daniel had wanted to call I think they should try and retrieve the cards if possible.

It just seems like the TDA has conflicting rules based on what they're looking to pass off as their established merit behind them.

Remember Dario Sammartino's TT hand deep in the main in 2019?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZz21KSs...

"It's a game of observation"
"Player responsibility"
etc. etc. etc.

Now we have this hand where a player failed to observe that Daniel was in the hand, and he gets rewarded for it. I get it that there's an established rule and the ruling was technically correct, but you're either putting the "Game of observation" card into effect or you're not. Choose one side.

You are comparing two extremely different situations and rules.

I keep seeing that would all over the X threads, "rewarded". How was he rewarded? He lost the right to contest to a pot that 99% of the time goes to the flop without him needing to put anymore money in. That's a reward these days?

It's certainly a very good outcome for Daniel if he had anything other than a big pocket pair. Way more + ev than if the guy hadn't accidentally mucked.

Saw someone on twitter point out that if you 3b someone and see someone loading up the 4b you could just snap muck and basically get your 3b back lol.

That someone was Jonathan Little and was posted in this thread.

He made a mistake and didn't realize another person had a live hand. He had put more big blinds into the pot than he was forced to pay after the ruling. That is rewarding a mistake that a player made due to his failure to observe the action.

Whether or not he gets to play for the pot or not is not even a question since he mucked his hand.

They could have retrieved the cards anyways if possible. Being allin or not had nothing to do with that.
