Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn't eat it....
o well atleast the girl grinded him on the rails of a club, almost got kicked out for grinding? Kappa
My gut instinct was that it would be good for the poker economy if he won one, but then thinking about it more, isn't that the opposite of the Moneymaker effect? Wouldn't it be better if total amateurs win?
Is there a personal non-financial reason you don't want him to win?
I don't think that stuff matters much anymore.
I play 2 or 3 times a month. Watch a couple vlogs. Watch some hand breakdowns.
I have no idea who won the main event last year. Or the year before. Couldn't care less. I remember some older Asian guy won it kinda recently.
Almost never hear others discussing such things. Last time I played some guy in town for wsop started talking about recent main events, and as far as I could tell nobody at the table had watched any coverage or knew what he was talking about.
Obviously, we know what the ME is as we probably all know what The Preakness is. But nobody actually paid attention to the WSOP.
Danny getting bluffed on the regular on stream
Daniel 6/14, Ivey in 1st and Benyamine 2nd nice run for the old school.
Top 14 paid a 102k+
Daniel Winning at Life?
Not sure about that. He definitely has financial freedom, that’s for sure. But his home life and lack of real close friends is not a winning life. He appears to have a lot of problems at home with the wife who sleeps most of the day and is battling mental illness. Daniel already divorced once before so he knows about bad marriages. His closest friends are basically people he pays…Christian and Patty. He’s not really socially close with other poker players (Hellmuth, Ivey etc). He’s not part of Arian and Deeb’s close knit group or the Rast/Antonio group or Ben Lamb and the Aria regulars or Nick Schulman/Lucky Chewey group or Haxton’s nerd herd. He’s kind of solo with a lot of superficial acquaintances but no real close friends. Same with poker media “friends” (Jeff Platt/Donnie Peters etc.) who like Daniel but also need access to Daniel because he is a star player in the poker industry. No children either. I don’t know. He puts on an act for the cameras but he looks like he has a lot of rage bubbling just under the surface. That’s not someone who is at peace or winning.
kinda interesting that Allen Kessler said he was a millionaire in one of the recent vlogs
does he make most of his money from playing poker?
I always wondered how much he profits because you seem him play almost every tournament at the WSOP
This is just hearsay but from what i have heard his sister is super successful and the rumour was that she basically bankrolls him.
I’ve heard from a few people that Kessler is actually a +ev gambler and makes money grinding this plus he’s very good at the comp game
Yeah he is grinding comps hard. its all about video poker.
That being said i doubt he is making much money but wouldn't be surprised if breaks about even most years.
can someone explain why this is a split pot?
I've never played much Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better but would have thought the best high and low in this hand would be A2345 which Ausmus has yet the pot was split, what'd I miss?
Dnegs has a flush... flush > straight. So chop hi and lo.

This seems pretty Parasocial, maybe he has a life outside of poker/vlogs that you don't know about?

The Road to Success
This combination of “fun” and “business” led Sandra in the 1980s to become one of the premier dealers of collectible toy robots. This business brought her into contact with her friend and future business partner, Richard Cohen. Together Sandra and Richard Cohen later operated “National A-1 Advertising” and “Prime-Tel Communications,” both of which rose to meteoric success, even surviving an FBI raid in 2010.
Laura, who is Allen’s younger sister, completed a BA in Early Childhood Education at Temple University in the 1980s while writing and designing advertising copy for the Progress Newspapers in Horsham, PA.
After graduation, Laura ran her own successful company, Lead City, which used demographics from reader responses on magazine inserts to boost the sales of insurance companies. A portion of Laura’s story can be found in the newly released novel Catching Lameds: Reflections on an Unconventional Life. It is an autobiography written by Theodore Rickles, now available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble Booksellers, and soon, Ingram Spark released through Story Terrace.
Allen also developed his business and marketing skills during college by working for a few marketing firms. During the 1980s, he worked for Ted Reed, a professional consultant who operated The Data Group Inc., a successful marketing research firm in Elkins Park. Adding to his portfolio further, Kessler also worked as a former International Consumer Research (ICR) manager. The secret behind his notorious sense of ethics and discipline in the field of professional poker likely stems from his family upbringing and his marketing experience.
I watched most of day 3 coverage of the $50k PPC. Seems to me that Daniel has a bigger edge in limit games than the big bet ones even though he'd tell you the opposite.

jeez you need the ride badly
Imagine putting all that on a post because you watch a guys daily 20min vlog
Even if any of your ramble is true, his life is interesting enough for you to watch/deliberate and write that about him. Dude cmon
Daniel thinks he has the edge in all variants of poker, which is the furthest thing from the reality of the situation.
Who are we comparing him to? I think he does have an edge in almost every game at almost every stake.
I don't think his issue is skill. I think his issues are mental more than anything . For example, he'll still be alive in some tournaments but already thinking about the next one...he has too much money where he loses focus and instead starts to gamble it up for the heck of it... he tilts too much ....

PrimeTel Communications' Wiki article is a fun read.

National A-1 was raided in 2010 related to a prostitution ring, related to its operation of escorts.com and hotmovies.com. In 2011, the company pled guilty to money laundering, forfeiting $4.9 million in proceeds from escorts.com and paying an additional $1.5 million fine.[7] Hotmovies.com grossed $20 million in 2006.[8]
The company also owned free.com, babies.com, sextoys.com, GayMovies.com, MovieDollars.com, Clips.com, catnip.com, poker.org, camps.com, antiques.com, fun.com, contests.com, golflessons.com, boys.com, girls.com, teens.com. and divorce.com.[9]
Part of Allen's role is coming from gaymovies.com

Staying focused and not tilting (too much) is a skill.

Imagine responding when you are clueless. The point raised by a previous poster was about Daniel winning at life not whether his life and vlogs are interesting. Of course his life is interesting, that’s not the point. You wrongly assume my post was based only on watching his vlogs. I’ve been around the Vegas scene almost as long as Daniel so I’ve heard all the scoop throughout the years. Wise up.

Imagine posting sour in one of the sourest threads on the Forum, about things you have no direct knowledge or insight. What we do know about Negreanu's life is that he's married, lives in a gorgeous house, loves pets, is a very high earner professionally, is a great ambassador for his profession, and is very well known. So I called him a winner at life to remind of these facts and take a wee bit of the sourness out of here.
how much did he win?
Friendly reminder that virtually anything is allowed in this thread (within reason) regarding Daniel. But negative/speculative posts about Amanda are not allowed.
Obviously there may be overlap between the two due to Daniel's vlogs, but let's err on the side of restraint when it comes to Amanda.
Thank you.
