Not a big fan overall of this years vlogs...HOWEVER...his PPC ones have actually been really good. He seems really a bit different from usual, more calmer? Nice to see it about poker and nothing else.

Friendly reminder that virtually anything is allowed in this thread (within reason) regarding Daniel. But negative/speculative posts about Amanda are not allowed.

Obviously there may be overlap between the two due to Daniel's vlogs, but let's err on the side of restraint when it comes to Amanda.

Thank you.

I think deep down he knows he's actually good at mixed games.

He tries to overcompensate when he talks about his good he is at plo (lmao) or at nl compared to legit crushers.

Imagine responding when you are clueless. The point raised by a previous poster was about Daniel winning at life not whether his life and vlogs are interesting. Of course his life is interesting, that’s not the point. You wrongly assume my post was based only on watching his vlogs. I’ve been around the Vegas scene almost as long as Daniel so I’ve heard all the scoop throughout the years. Wise up.

My gut instinct was that it would be good for the poker economy if he won one, but then thinking about it more, isn't that the opposite of the Moneymaker effect? Wouldn't it be better if total amateurs win?

Is there a personal non-financial reason you don't want him to win?

I just find the idea of buying a bracelet and acting like that makes you good disgusting. And the idea that this is his money as opposed to GG paying the bills possibly at one remove so he can pretend it is his money is only believed by very foolish people. Enter enough short field tournaments and assuming you are average skill for the game you eventually win a bracelet.

15 years ago, he may have been better at NLHE tournaments than mixed games, but now he is clearly better at mixed games.

As far as the 2 bullets every year at the $250K, he has won (1st place) 2 $300K tournaments in the last 4 years. So that is like 25 buyins right there. So he may be able to pay for the entries out of the winnings. Or like most people playing those, he sells action. He probably doesn't sell it at a big discount based on his results, regardless of whether he plays proper GTO.

However, I think he and Ivey were the only preboom players in the $250K. There are a few others playing the $50K 9-game and NLHE high rollers. There are obviously many preboom and boom top players who don't want to compete with the GTO players in the NLHE high-rollers. Those high rollers are also one place for GTO players to pay high stakes. Pretty much all the public high stakes games are mixed games or PLO.

Watching Negreanu spend a fortune year after year, not win a bracelet for 10 years as well as watching several other bloggers blow through buy-in after buy-in kills any motivation I have to ever play again.

If a guy like Daniel cant win anything in 10 years, what chance do I have?

I think I'd be better off playing slots with a big progressive jackpot at this point, unlikely to win there either but at least I might get something back from the casinos

I miss the days when I didnt know any better, ignorance really is bliss

lol you're giving him too much credit...

Regardless of how bad you or anyone else thinks Daniel is, I'm WAY worse and I'll never put in the volume he does. I'd need every horseshoe in the state to pull off a WSOP win

dude was a banana away from min cashing the 50k.

now he is on a heater and may take it down

Ivey should have played those nines….

Hasn't he ended up with a winning mtt year in almost every one of those 10 years?

I agree with you, but this is true for MTTs.
Cash games may offer more hope.

What a horrific fold by Daniel with AJo on the button facing a utg+1 open on the final table in limit hold em.

What a horrific fold by Daniel

Brutal and Embarrassing.

by damian^ k

didn't he play doug knowing he was a dog and just played to try and improve his game?

I think he also took on Doug because he was tired of the sniping. It's the old adage about dealing with a bully: sometimes, taking one good swing back at the bully will get them to knock it off. In this case, one can argue that was exactly what happened.

In your defense, you know yourself well enough not to fire two bullets into a $250K event, too. Those are the events that really bury him farther into the red. Like he said all last year, if you look just in terms of buy-ins, he came out ahead. Thus, had DNegs avoided the high rollers, he might have been profitable for the WSOP in 2023.

Daniel playing and running well recently. Now the chipleader, much to the happiness of Pokergo execs I'm sure.

Nevermind Pokergo, I am sure GG is happy.

dnegs has played pretty above average all tournament but for the life of me i cant understand the fold vs Yockey in that stud hand

The hand where he had jacks? If so there are no realistic hands where DNegs is a large favorite while at the same time he might be drawing dead.

Though I might continue in his position if he really is bracelet or bust.

Credit to Daniel, saved two big bets on the river and then effectively doubled up afterwords. I and most likely the other players also probably feel like Smith is playing way too nitty so far in basically every game.

there are 0 hands he's drawing dead against with 2 cards to come

and the 7 and ace being up limit the combos of spades that Yockey raises off the complete.

Negreanu in 2nd place, wins big 27TD hand against Ausmus.

Danny running so pure
