i imagine johnny gaudreau's death been widely talked about recently as well
@squid
Heard the end of
on NPR this afternoon. Might be something SPC is interested in.If she comes through my area, I'm down for riding along, but she'd have to slow down considerably.
@RR - I heard about that, what a bummer. I dont know how much they are talking about it as SPC has been in montana since it happened.
@GD - Oh, spc knows all about her. The ultracycling community is up in arms about this. I personally dont give a crap so I dont have any details. All I know is many are pissed cuz of how its being done and somehow shortcutting
for those who don't know since it's hockey which not too many people pay attention to:
he was one of the most beloved guys in the league, at 5'9" (and that's generous) he was often one of the smallest guys on the ice but was an all star every year and a legit mvp candidate a few years
when he was at calgary, he was the glue of what was literally the most effective hockey line in the nhl - he left in free agency and could have played wherever he wanted whatsoever but he chose columbus for less than what other teams were offering, they were one of the worst teams in the league and this was during the peak of his career so it meant winning the cup would probably never happen, he did that because he wanted to be near his family (and no him going there wouldn't be enough to make them good, hockey is very much a team sport where an individual has little impact)
everyone loved him, everyone always had the nicest things to say about him, his nickname was literally "johnny hockey"
he goes to jersey for his sisters wedding, he and his brother decide to go for a bike ride the night before the wedding, as a car passes them it moves into the middle of the road and a drunken driver behind that car then decides to overtake that car by driving through the shoulder to the right and kills the two brothers
of all the celebrity deaths that one hurts the most and it's not even close
lol - Bikepacking is pretty niche. She gots a couple o sponsors, is quickly building a rep in the community, and will be doing some podcasts after finishing this event but i dont think there is any real money to be had. Luckily the gambool has been good to spc (who should prolly be called Adventure Chick at this point; jus sayin) and doesnt really need worry about making $.

Gaudreau tragedy is heart breaking. :(
I just spent last week in a hick town, and their local rink still has a makeshift memorial to him at their entrance.

oh man, just read that while both already have children, both their widows are currently pregnant as well
Hey Feely Im pretty sure that you will be super excited to hear that the Wasatch (our mountain range) just got its first snowfall and winter sport activities are right around the corner
Congrats to SPC on her victory!
Adventure Chick appreciates that Garick. She was pretty wrecked at the finish yesterday. She has known for several days the weather would be a serious issue coming into the finish. The trails coming back to bozeman dont handle the rain well and get nearly impassable. So she pushed hard to stay ahead of the weather. The guys behind her are going to have a rough time with the rainy conditions they face today.
Well done SpecialAdventureChick. What an accomplishment!

i live in the area where he's from and was ultimately killed. i didn't know him but a good buddy had known him and his kids knew johnny through hockey, albiet they are younger than him. a lot of kids seemed to look up to him in the area since he made it. it did hit the area pretty hard, so much so that i was at the phillies game the night after and they even did a moment of silence for him and his brother. by all accounts i've heard, he was a genuinely nice person. sucks stuff like this happens.
She's good at getting out of the house...... leaving poor squidlee to fend for himself. Very savory indeed.
savory pedaling chick?

An absolute ton of people ask me about this. It's interesting too cuz when they frame the question its obvious they think I will not be happy about the situation.
I miss her when she gone but I really need my alone time to do the stuff that fills my tank. When shes gone I can focus up and completely immerse myself into it. So much of our lives overlap that it is nice to have a break and be able to get lost in something I really enjoy that I cant share with her.when we are together

My guess is the people asking you don’t share any/very few hobbies with their SO, and this solo adventure stuff seems like single people activities.
squidlee doth protesteth 2 mucho.........
garrick, the reason why i never joined the armed forces was because of the non-zero chance i'd be the designated tuesday ball fondler
You only like ball fondling during the weekend?
above average day for Ohtani
He'll probably be a better hitter the rest of the year - pressure off and doesn't need to press for homers. Best money the Dodgers ever spent.
