Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
How ?
I live here , in the north .
I live it everyday lol …..
I just look at nature of what is today compare to what was 50 years ago and it’s incredible the difference shrug .
But hey believe 1 scientists and reject the 99 other of them after him because you dont like what the vast majority said .
Hopefully you won’t follow the same motto for real medical urgency , trusting the 1 doctor that say you don’t have cancer while 99 others says you have it .
Ps: the funny thing is it was the same during the cigarette controversy on if cigarettes was good or bad for people ….
the same idiotic battle existed because a very tiny amount of medical professionals were saying cigarettes were ok )
that conspiracy makes me facepalm

As Trump fills his cabinet with the usual ghouls, some of his base is getting upset. There is a large segment of his supporters who are anti-war. Some are libertarians, some have other reasons. But they took him seriously when he said he was a candidate for peace. Looks like they'll be disappointed. It'll be interesting to see how they react.

I’ll be laughing my ass off if some “brown “ people voted for trump thinking he will sided with them vs Israel ……
A longtime Trump ally, Stefanik is a staunch supporter of Israel and has also been critical of the UN for what she argues is a lack of sufficient backing for its war against Hamas.
“Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Trump said in a statement confirming the first cabinet pick of his second term.
Last month, she argued there should be a “complete reassessment of US funding of the United Nations” after the Palestinian Authority tried to expel Israel from the UN over human rights abuses in Gaza.
If they think Biden was tough and unfair and genocidal….
Watch what’s coming .

Yes as i mentioned, the war for the soul of the republican party is on.
How they react will depend on what exactly happens. Rubio for example might be a pick to change course with rogue marxist nations like Venezuela and Brasil (which is descending into full blown marxism), while he might be what the alt right wants for Ukraine.
As for Israel, it was clear to everyone Trump is 100% pro Israel, they can pretend otherwise, but the actual anti-war topic was Ukraine all the time not Israel on the right.
Very few people think he is a messiah. But a lot of people , through him, find a glimmer of hope to reverse course after decades of leftist horrors.
And yes that includes a lot of republican-made choices in the past, by so called "RINOs" and in general people who betrayed rightwing values in order to be invited to "intellectual circles" and so on.

My god, imagine what sort of person you must be in to find hope through Donald ****ing Trump, possibly one of the scummiest individuals on the planet.

Trump declares war to leftist colleges, declaring they are controlled by marxist lunatics (=objectively true)
Accreditors will now verify that a college *defends american and western civilization values*. Full removal of all DEI initiatives, vast reduction in admin roles will be necessary to get accreditation. Or no more federal dollars for research and no student loan federal guarantee.
DoJ used to prosecute civil right cases for discrimination if any college uses races as an admission criteria. Fines up to the entire amount of the endowment will be passed in reconciliation.
This is far far far far better than i expected, even if he does a fraction of it, the direction is 100% the correct one.

Pretty hard to square protecting free speech and mandating a certain perspective on values be taught.

Not at all.
You want taxpayers money you comply to any and all of their requests about education including what they, the ultimate arbiters of proper values (for taxpayers money to be spent upon), consider proper education.
You still get free speech as much as you want if you don't want other people money. You can stop donating to a school that doesn't reflects your values right? same for taxpayers.
Free speech guarantees are about the state not being allowed to punish you for your speech. Not about the state being forced to subsidize your speech.
If i pay you to talk to kids, i can tell you what to tell them.

Hence the Republicans' idea of free speech - you'll get it but with their conditions attached. In other words, the opposite of free speech.
