Trump Economy and Poker
About six years ago I put up a post pointing out that the good Trump economy was probably very good for the poker games since it would create more excess income for many people which we would see in the poker games. Unfortunately, Covid came and, of course, I got attacked by some people for saying something positive about Trump.
Anyway, I expect something similar to happen again. That is, I expect the economy to improve, more people to take part in it, and the poker games to get better. This should take, in my opinion, about 18 months.
Ypu should stop watching videos and read more if you want to have informed opinions. And you said growth was good under Trump. I don't think any video can change the fact that it was not good. If you want to change to some data free good jobs metric, you have to ask why you're so wedded to the notion that Trump was good for the economy and poker that you can't simply look at the data in a straightforward and honest matter.
it was decent per Capita GDP growth same as during the Obama years
OP thinks the Obama economy was horrible and we had a boom and some of the best economic conditions ever under Trump.
This post is just wrong. Under Trump we saw low interest rates, growth in real wages, good growth in the economy, record low unemployment rates, low inflation, energy independence, and then Covid came. My post years ago was made before Covid.
I'm not an expert on this stuff, so you may be right that's it worth selling out now
Mason, the president has very little influence or control on what the borrowing costs will be in any point of time. Wage growth comes from a higher demand to meet the needs of an increasing output that came to fruition through advancements in technological innovation that is implemented through the workforce - not the president. Employment rates are also a function of all this and again not the president.
If anything, the stock market will influence who becomes president next because nobody knows wtf they are talking about and most folks overrate their president in regard to issues that affect their income or anything at all.
Anyway, I expect something similar to happen again. That is, I expect the economy to improve, more people to take part in it, and the poker games to get better. This should take, in my opinion, about 18 months.
Would you be willing to explain what you mean by "improve"?
You have a Fed that is trying to decrease the rate of demand of goods and services in most sectors to prevent the economy from overheating which would lead to ahigher rate of inflation.
Will this economy that involves more people taking part in it and improving the poker games lead to higher inflation from here? Wages are pretty high already, do we raise them more or something?
How does Trump do this exactly?

What data you have to prove this correlation?
FWIW could we say the black Friday in 2011 was like the peak before FTP shut down ?
If so, home prices and stock market was no where near their all time high and
Still in the aftermath of the 2008 GFC with millions people in the process of recovering from losing their jobs and houses …
Now if that wasn’t near the peak of poker, my bad but I would love to see which year you would say it is and go from there if that correlation still holds .

Under trump you had an immense increase in debt pre COVID ….
And trump could not even do better then Obama while doing so much more debt in less time then Obama ….
But yeah debt is only bad when democrats does it , we got it .
Even you should be able to look that up and see it's just wrong. The first three years of Trump pre Covid
Yup didn’t saw that post but yeah .

There may be one factual anecdote in your post.
Trump pressured the Fed to keep interest rates low, cut taxes for corporations, increased the national debt more than any other president, sent every single taxpayer checks with his name on them, and created the PPP loan scam. These created a bad economic environment. Good for short term growth, bad for the long term.
The stock markets are the economy. If the markets do good, people have extra money to play with. Markets like stability. Trump will nuke them again just as he did last time.

Growth was terrific under Trump until much of the economy got shut down because of Covid. Why don't you acknowledge this?
If anything, the stock market will influence who becomes president next because nobody knows wtf they are talking about and most folks overrate their president in regard to issues that affect their income or anything at all.
This statement is certainly true. But there are things, such as tax cuts and perhaps more drilling for oil that can help things along.

I agree this was a problem. But it looks like a real effort will be made in this area under Trump 2, and hopefully the job I used to have gets eliminated.
The amount of hatred possessed by someone like you is amazing. I've always been able to deal maturely with people who have different views from me. Obviously, you can't.
Don't you think that I'm aware that what appears in my OP is controversial? But I think it's worth discussing. Obviously, you don't have that ability.

It's difficult to deal maturely with a group of people whose views are based on a mountain of lies from randoms posting on twitter and who have elevated one of the worst humans on the planet to godlike status and believe everything he says. But, that's just me. Continue on.
Time for me to take another sabbatical......

because it wasn't, it was just decent like during the Obama post-crisis years
If an observer from another planet wasn't told that there was an election, he would think it was the same administration
Perhaps you're right. However, I never wanted to venture into those areas that I didn't understand. I suspect that if we had tried, even though other knowledgeable people did well, that would not have happened to us.
As for DFS strategy books, I'm not sure I would be able to tell a good one from a well written bad one. In the world of poker/gambling that our publishing company operated in, I think I was better at this than virtually anyone else.
If you have any doubts about this, just take a look
Surely you could have taught yourself the basics of DFS, found an expert on DFS betting to be an author, and published some books? 2p2 was the premier name brand in publishing gambling books, you guys could have cashed in on a massive, massive new trend if you'd found a halfway-decent author to work with.
Waiting for online poker to come back is obviously not going to work in the age of AI. It's going to be impossible to convince ordinary people that they aren't playing against bots.

We never made much effort to go out and find authors. They all came to us, and of the books we publish, I can think of only one exception where I asked one of our posters, whose posts were so good, if he was interested in writing a book. His answer was that he was already working on one and we did publish it.
By the way, the argument that you are making that we could have cashed in on something we weren't involved in is an argument I've heard many times. In the past, we even had meetings with people who made the exact same argument, and perhaps it was true, and there were a couple of times where we began to do something else, but these adventures didn't work out. On the other hand, 2+2 was successful beyond my wildest dreams.
And one other thing, we didn't publish books from a number of poker experts because the books weren't very good. However, in a different subject that we knew little about, we might have published stuff that if we knew the subject better we wouldn't have published.
And one final note to some non-2+2 authors whose book we turned down. Sometimes we did this because we didn't have the time to take on another book. So, just because we turned a book down, it doesn't mean it wasn't worthwhile.
Also, I agree with your comment about bots and online poker.
Live poker games have never been more wide spread and prevalent across the world.
The reason you got criticism is because your prediction was wrong and instead of having a moment of introspection you are again trying to attribute something to Trump that, even if it came true, would objectively have nothing to do with Trump.
Maybe this is true. But I live in the area that has the most live poker games by far (Los Angeles) and on average the games aren't as good (players are better), the games are smaller stakes, and the rake is a lot higher than the last poker boom.
You can go into the local casino on a Friday night and there are 40 small stakes no limit holdem games running. And if you are there to have fun, and you find that fun, then do your thing. But there is no real money to be made.

Yeah the most mature poker markets have the best players. That should track. I live in CO and its a poker gold rush. Every table filled 4 nights a week with massive wait lists and donkeys everywhere

Sure, lowering corporate tax rates, all else equal, raises the bottom line in a general sense. But there is a lot involved here, even through the lense of what Trump or the president has the power to do.
Trumps tax cuts could lead to increase in the deficit. His tariffs could decrease output, raising prices. We don't know what he is going to do with deportations.
The truth is, we simply don't know what is going to happen in the future and economists cant predict the outcome of so many moving parts that are intertwined with one another. It's a global economy and Trump is still just one man.
So locker room talk between two guys in private about hitting on a girl is new to you? wow...welcome to reality.
Guys who actually do well with women do not speak this way. Ever. Incels and loser frauds like Trump, who have to buy mail-order brides from former EasternBlock countries and pay hookers for sex, speak this way. Guys who speak this way about women have NEVER had a woman actually want them for them. Ever. They have no idea what it feels like to actually be sexually attractive to a woman. None.
If your reality contains men who speak this way about women, then the men you are around get zero pussy that they don't have to pay for. Which makes complete sense given everything you've written on this forum.

Really? Look how you're speaking, like you have no class, but you're judging others for doing the same. I call that a hypocrite.
