Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
"BREAKING: One of the Palestinian prisoners set to be released today is refusing to leave the jail and says he prefers to stay in Israeli prison than go back to Hamas' Gaza. He will be replaced with another prisoner."

Lolz

Lmao not surprising.

this is a commendable act and when an Israeli does this it is indeed commended

but propaganda is a helluva drug

Let me get this straight - Hamas "rolled up on a music festival" and found some soldiers in their pyjamas?

This gets better and better.

You think those were the clothes the girls were wearing when they were abducted and they have been in them for 400+ days? There is almost no chance that is the clothes the girls were wearing when they are abducted. I wouldn't be surprised if they were put in those "uniforms" today for the first time just to be paraded around, mocked and humiliated by Hamas (rumors are they were drugged up too to guarantee compliance with the humiliation ritual).

Seriously Crossnerd, I know you are trying to be neutral. But these girls are human beings. How much mockery and dehumanization are you going to allow from this guy?

there were a lot of rumors about a lot of things and they all turned out to be fake news. maybe this one turns out true!

Dehumanisation? There's nothing more dehumanising than being tortured and killed like animals. Where are your thoughts for the tens of thousand of innocent civilians and children massacred ruthlessly?

Genius can’t tell the difference between:

1) “let this old man leave hell instead of me, I’m younger and can be here longer.”

2) I’d rather be in an Israeli prison than Gaza.

Don’t let jailfrezi get to you. His feelings towards people of a certain religion are clear as day.

I've searched and I can't find where you got this from.

Do you have a link please?

My feelings towards people being slaughtered and towards those doing and supporting the slaughter are as clear as day.

well obv I am incredibly suspicious of your assertions. since you havent provided a name, a link, or any bit of information then I think we can safely assume that the story is as full of **** as the people who claim the Israeli captives were raped and impregnated.

“The evidence is literally the imagination of the colonizer.”

@AsaWinstanley

Well bear in mind it's the same poster who tried to claim that antisemitism has become rife in London and every Londoner here, including Jewish people, told him it was nonsense. lol

Remind me about your feelings for Hamas…

by Dunyain k

Hezbollah and their IRI handlers made a choice to open the Northern front. The war with Lebanon/Hezbollah should not be blamed on Hamas IMO. All members of the Axis of Resistance and their sycophants should be treated with agency, and held responsible for their own belligerence.

What Hamas did on Oct 7th gave Hezbollah the excuse to attack. Hamas absolutely should be blamed.

Would that be the same Jonathan Elkhoury whose father was a soldier in the South Lebanon Army (SLA) fighting Hezbollah and the PLO?

by gs3737 k

Remind me about your feelings for Hamas.

Remind yourself - I've typed dozens of times about them.

famously, Sinwar wanted to stay in jail and give his spot up to another prisoner. his fellow prisonmates forced him to go. maybe history repeats itself here.

@jal, looks like it comes from this who is one of the most obnoxious peddlers of fake news and propaganda on social media.

Lmao not surprising.

70 of the most serious offenders were sent to Egypt for deportation to third countries like Qatar and Turkey, so the odd holdout is indeed not surprising.

There were holdouts in the first detente/exchange last year also. There are a lot of potential reasons. I dont think we need to read too much into this, except for commending the Israel system for ruling prisoners could decline being part of exchanges if they choose (If I remember correctly the Israel judicial system made such a ruling last year when a prisoner brought a complaint asking to not be part of an exchange).
