Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
At the last second Hamas switched one of the prisoners they said they were going to release. There doesn't seem to be any other reason other than psychological terrorizing the girls family. In return Netanyahu is saying he is not opening North Gaza until she is released. Seems fair.

by jalfrezi k

My feelings towards people being slaughtered and towards those doing and supporting the slaughter are as clear as day.

Right. You support Hamas who are doing and supporting the slaughter.

Literally executing Palestinians in the street. CGI videos produced by Pixar, funded by AIPAC no doubt.

seems that one side abided by the rules of the ceasefire and the other side didnt.

@jal, looks like it comes from this who is one of the most obnoxious peddlers of fake news and propaganda on social media.

Shocking response. Oh wait, it’s what you say every time there’s news you don’t like.

When Hamas releases anything, you never question it and lap it up like a dog.

I was just giving the source since you didn't.

Lol

Now we know why he didn’t post a link.

At least when X is my source I post it so everyone can see and weight it accordingly.

The US has cut off funding for everyone in the world except Egypt and Israel. It's looking like the "Palestinians" will be getting nothing.

I cut and pasted it above.

I’m not savvy like you guys, don’t know how to share it in a 2p2 thread.

Yes. hamas violated the agreement by not providing a list of live hostages yet. Which, along with denying aid agencies to check on health and provide care for hostages, is a war crime they have been committing for 477+ days and counting per the Geneva convention.

This is something even the Houthi’s did. Pretty low when you can’t even reach the bar the Houthi’s set.

is this part of the ceasefire deal?

nevertheless, it is not the cited reason by the Israelis for blocking nearly a million people from returning to their homes. Bibi specifically said, as you yourself posted, that the reason was that Hamas did not release a certain hostage/POW. maybe part of the deal was that she was to be released in this wave, I dunno. kinda doubt it.

but if we are talking about abiding by the ceasefire well, Israel is still shooting people and running surveillance drones all over Gaza.

The freeze is a temporary measure to audit aid, and there are provisions to continue humanitarian aid, so I don’t think this is going to happen.

Although it would be nice if the world would commit to providing aid through organizations that don’t facilitate, aid and support terrorism, namely UNRWA.

Yes. But Hamas started violating the agreement before the ink dried. Baiting and switching the hostage list is just one on a long line of violations.

It is kind of wild how you just make up stuff out of thin air and then at the same time just say you doubt widely known facts that no one disputes.

no really, be specific on what exactly Hamas violated.

by Victor k

.

Yes.

But on top of that it is part of the Geneva convention. Although I guess if you are just going to flagrantly violate the Geneva convention with no shits given by anyone, violating a ceasefire deal seems like small potatoes in comparison.

by Dunyain k

He’s so absurd and dishonest it’s hard to verbalize. You did a fantastic job here.

by Victor k

no really, be specific on what exactly Hamas violated.

Well, 10/7 itself and everything following has been violating the last ceasefire.

But for this specific ceasefire the 2 major violations (so far) are:

1. Not releasing females civilian hostages first, including but not limited to the specific civilian hostage Hamas did the bait and switch with.

2. Not providing a list of alive and dead hostages.

are we sure that the particular "hostage" is actually a soldier. or shes already dead.

as for the list, it was due 3 hours ago so maybe wait a second. or maybe they decided that since Israel was still shooting people right and left and running surveillance drones that they can rightly **** off.

Well, given that providing a list of live hostages is a requirement of the Geneva Convention, and not doing so is a war crime that Hamas has clearly been violating for 400+ days; it would seem this is you acknowledging your operating system is just zero sum tribalism, and you are mostly indifferent towards international law and only bring it up in bad faith.

As an aside, 2 of the civilian hostages Hamas has steadfastly refused to provide any update on their well-being are somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 and 3 years old (if they are alive).

Trump gave an interview on his thoughts of the future of Gaza and said what is pretty obvious. The people need to go and it needs to be completely rebuilt. No terror tunnels, no weapons caches, no rocket launchers, no Hamas.

Gaza as is has no future, no matter how much money is dumped into it. Too much corruption, too much hate, too much ignorance, too much radicalism, too many terrorists, too many weapons.

Everything has to be reimagined and rebuilt.

As I said it is pretty obvious this is what needs to happen. What is wild about Trump's statement though, is that he said it in such a way indicating he thinks it actually has a chance of happening. And I find this completely farcical. Clearly the world (especially the Ummah) likes things just as they are for geopolitical reasons, and Palestinians are just disposable pawns in a game much bigger than them. And no one has any interest in making things better for the Palestinians, so it wont be.

Groups have interests in the Palestinians staying right where they are are and living under the same conditions they have for years.

The Palestinians are a great asset to the Muslim world. They represent a never ending proxy war against Israel and the west, which doesn’t drain their own resources or harm their own populations.

Israel and the west are the big boogeymen that help Muslim theocracies to keep their populations under control though fear and poverty.

If the Palestinians ever made peace with Israel, the other Muslim nations would have to start addressing their own domestic failures.

looks like the unarmed residents are liberating their villages in the South and driving out the fascist invaders. 11 dead so far and many villages freed.

The view of Israeli hard-liners has always been that Palestinians should just pack up and go to Jordan or Egypt. And that's pretty much what Trump said. He also restarted the shipment of 2000 lb bombs to Israel that the Biden administration halted last year.

It was always obvious that Trump's election would be a good thing from the perspective of Israeli hard-liners.

White woman whose entire Twitter feed is anti-Israel propaganda. Hm…
