I think some of you guys need to read up on how Hitler dismantled the German constitution using the legal means within his powers in less than 2 months of taking over. This is what happens when you design democratic systems with the false assumption that someone in power will be sane and democratic and respect basic human dignity, morality and ethics.

I'm going to go more old-school. I was listening to something about Caligula last night and heard a lot of similarities, so had Gpt do me the honours.

(My own addition would be they both had no experience, and were grossly unqualified. Caligula distained the Senate and the political elites, but realised he didn't need them if he just bribed the Praetorian Guard to be loyal to him, and threaten/kill anyone opposing him.)

Of three differences it came up with, I think the bottom two are pretty amusing.

Hitler was allowed to use the fire at the parliament building (which nazis did) to pass a decree that suspended a lot of rights, after which he incarcerated his politcal opponents lol.

I mean any constitution that allows for that to happen is... utter trash.

And that was during a political campaign to re-elect parliament after... Hitler decided to call elections (against something that the constitution shouldn't allow, but i know parliamentary systems are redicolous like that even these days in some cases, see Canada or the UK).

Then after all this Hitler got 44% of parliament. Which still required him to have partners to pass the "empowering laws" (basically to suspend the constitution). At least here the constitution had a qualified threshold. Still. LOLOLOL At the idea that 66% of parliament is enough to suspend the constitution.

So anyway it took basically most of the elected politicians for the constitution to be suspended. And various passages that allowed that to happen only were possible because the constitution was very badly written to begin with.

Now, i know your intention is to claim something similar is happening in the USA. Your problem is simply that it isn't in any way shape or form, both because it simply isn't happening, and because it can't happen within the legal system with american constitutional protections.

Of what use is the experience of something happening elsewhere useful to understand today's events that have absolutely nothing in common? none, except the incessant attempt to use "the worst person ever" as comparison for every politician you guys on the left hate

DEI is positive discrimination, it's treating some groups better than others because "reasons". It's pejorative for a majority of americans.

But DEI is not allowed anymore in the federal government, per trump EO (constitutional: no court has said it isn't, no one even attempted to block that as it's perfectly legal for an EO).

Anyway for the 12912124th time, it's then the specific agencies that decide what to cut given the list. Like they do ordinarily. Only difference is they have a list which is written 100x faster by people who have 0 conflicts of interest and rather the correct bias wrt public expenditure: they hate it in general.
