Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread
We have the fine dining thread, but everyone needs some good casual places to eat, either on the strip or local. I'm fi
New downtown spot Echo just opened a few days ago. Interesting concept, cocktails and small bites centered around a super high end McIntosh sound system. The subwoofer they have is $35k alone, Iβm sure the whole setup was well over $100k. The owner is Natalie Young who also had some other downtown restaurants like Eat. Food was very good. Definitely would go back, very cool spo
I hate to break it to you... but:

It’s at the Colorado building in the arts district. I won’t pretend to have any clue what that audio setup is but I’ll bet it sounds great.
That's an older set up of mine that I posted... same legacy speakers that the lounge is using.
The La Scala, and its been in continuous production since 1963 without a single design change beyond some minor tweaks to modernize them. A testament to the design prowess of Paul W Klipsch. That is probably why they chose those speakers. PwK was originally commissioned to desgn the speaker for use at political rallies, specifically for Winthrop Rockefeller.
PwK also has his flagship speaker design that has been in continuous production since 1947... the Klipschorn.

No other speaker has been in production for that length of time... there is a method to all that angular madness
Cool stuff Mike, but next time post a pic of you with a sandwich in the room so we can get back on topic. π
Instead of my usual sushi lunch, made the slight right into ramen neko for a late lunch around 2p on a Saturday.
Place is small. Maybe 3 or so booths on one side, a bar against the wall on the other that can seat about 8, and 5 small round tables in the middle. It was packed.
But I got a spot at the bar at the end. I waited for my order to be taken.
Ordered a small gyu don and the signature neko ramen with corn added.
Then I waited for my food.
The gyu don was a good size for only 4 bucks, flavorful bulgogi-type beef over rice with half a soft boil egg, pickled onion and scallions. Maybe a tad too much rice on the rice:meat ratio but again -- it's 4 bucks.
Then I waited for the ramen.
The ramen is great. Super flavorful rich and creamy broth, with tender fresh noodles, and great toppings. I'd eat this meal again when hungry.
They just need to fix the staffing. I saw one guy doing it all. He needs help. The slow service at every part of the meal is not great. I didn't get a water until halfway done my ramen as well, even though I asked when I ordered everything.
But that can be fixed. I'll come back happily. Just maybe...don't have anything planned directly after lunch on your schedule.

Ping pang pong at Gold Coast. Never been here, has always been recommended, glad I visited. Got here on a Tuesday at 5p with no wait.
The crispy pork belly and roast duck 2bbq meat combo plate is the star. The chive dumplings off the dimsum menu were also great. Beef noodles and walnut shrimp were also good. Will probably not order the Chinese sausage buns. The red bean sesame balls for dessert were awesome.
Will return again.

Aria switched to the food hall concept.
Park MGM has the chain idea Eataly.
Venetian has that Mediterranean place and a bunch more.
Paris/Horseshoe has a weird maze of shops facing the strip.
Aria food Hall is mid imo.
Cosmo food Hall looks good never been.
Eataly is good, park mgm also a couple other casual places.
I often stay at park mgm and between there and Aria think there are lots of good choices.
Cosmo probably has the best food hall for casual
an mgm guy so ill give you run downs..
eately, is decent,, you can get a good piece of rib eye for 60. the pizza place is ok..
nyny got probably the best happy hour deals.. il fornia 2-6pm and gonzalez and gonzales have really good happy hour menus
food truck at park mgm is decent for cuban type sandwiches
cosmo has hattie b's(really hot chicken) and momfuku is ok..
aria has proper eats, and im a fan of the lucky buddah ramen place, the pizza is decent, and egg place ok..
egg slut at cosmo is better
Also, MGM Grand sucks for food. Somehow a Tap is better than Craft.
Source: thousands in wasted comps.
Personally, I take the walk to Ellis Island for lunch. Two restaurant options. Good food, good beer, not expensive.
