I closed the Trump thread as the discussion of the POTUS was derailed beyond recognition of the subject.

So why not just warn people to keep it on topic? There was plenty of discussion of Trump in that thread.

Bro! I was born Jewish. I had a Bartmitzvah. My parents asked me afterward if I would like to continue my Jewish education. I said hell know, I'm watching football on Sundays and this stuff is weird. Half my family is still into all the weird stuff like not using electricity on certain days etc. The other half is very Conservative and only goes to worship on holidays but are normal functioning human beings. My brother and his wife are orthodox but they are pretty normal people. I refuse to participate in their strange ceremonies when I'm there but they know that. I don't begrudge them in any way for what they believe. I personally think religion is bad so I don't partake. Obviously as mentioned above football played a part in my decision.

Lucy is honestly the only person I’d advocate banning. The guy posts 100 times a day and inevitably every thread in politics becomes derailed by his psychotic eugenics sideshow. Even if you have the guy blocked he is impossible to avoid
