imo amateurs at 1/3 are people who genuinely think they are good and can beat the game whereas amateurs at higher stakes just have a degen itch to scratch as it's enough money to be aware they are losing but they care more about the winning sessions than all the losers combined so idk it's fair to compare the two
This isn’t true about a lot of amateurs at higher stakes. 2/5 and 5/10. I can’t talk about higher
They are ok/less bad players who enjoy the game, who likely beat 1/2 and 1/3, have basic strategy and are trying to play well. They are just limited and therefore exploitable by good, observant players. (I am describing myself but also a lot of others)
Of course there are rich/degen guys occasionally too.
IME outside of the occasional whale, the more profitable villains at 2/5 and 5/10 are actually wannabe regs who think they’re good players with mad skills but don’t have the fundamentals or patience to grind and will make cataclysmic errors
Who had George Foreman before Pope Francis in the death pool?
Goddamn Marc Goone has entered the pen. I told him to delete those vids.
Nic, long time no see. How you been?
Life’s been good for the most part. Time freaking flies. Wife and I had a couple more kids (4 and 2 years old now. Oldest is 15).
Poker in Wichita has been all underground since Covid shut down the Kansas star poker room (it never reopened).
Been Garicking (big handshakes and introductions) to my table neighbors all week here in Vegas. Lmao

Bummer about Kansas Star. That was a nice little room.
Congrats on the kids and good work on the Garicking.
unironically I do feel they will eventually be deleted, just dont know if its in 6 months or a year form now etc etc, but if its people like me who semi-watch its not like it will get absorbed into their brains to good use by the majority

Hey, degens, long time no chat. I've been working on boring academic stuff and in the shop at home on a big jewelry project. That one is getting close to finished, but I ran out of settings so I had to order some more.
Off to a conference tomorrow, then nose to the grindstone on jewelry project next week, but I should have a life again after that.

I'll go with the brindle cat.
Also going with the cat.
Spent a week in Palm Springs. Have no idea how people live year round in that heat. Felt a little guilty (not really?) that I didn't get out and explore the sights and instead just vegged by a pool. Then got back and forced myself out of the house to go downtown and catch a musical act.
Also winning 1bb per hour almost a quarter thru my rec poker year, enquire within regarding my coaching rates, ldo.

A week in March in Palm Springs GG? Cause that's not heat. Heat is coming, for sure. I plan on passing thru PS in June, I'll let you know what it's like then.
For us desert dwellers, your snow is the same to us as the heat is to you. Snow is something I like looking at on TV, or if absolutely necessary, thru a window. Wouldn't mind at all if I never actually touched the stuff again.
We almost hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday (early for us), and it felt glorious! Very dry, cool mornings/evenings. Only gets really hot in the mid-to-late afternoon. It's my favorite time of year in the desert southwest.
Sup all.
Actually, played the pokerz for the first time since last fall or maybe summer. 1/3 hood game and I booked a $1400** win. Kind of misleading as a chunk of that was on in PL Omaha bomb pots where I ran hot. I am invited back for this Saturday, but I will probably be busy making candy and won't make the drive.
I am also still debating taking the early out when (if) it gets offered this summer. I may take the out and go pro in Omaha bomb pots.
**Uncle Same got all of that and then some back Sunday morning when I found some unexpected cap gains when I did my taxes.

Kind of, when it rained 4 times in one week  mid March I needed the winter comforter + sleeping bag. The thermometer said it was like 58 F.

Yeah, we were talking to our Uber driver about how hot it gets there in the summer and what people do, to which he said "we stay indoors". Lol, if you have to live indoors then you're not living in a habitable space, imo.
I tried to start my morning walk at 8:30am, but it was already typically too late. Even starting my evening walk at 8:00pm seemed to early and yet it was pretty much pitch black (weird, no street lights in some neighbourhoods in Palm Springs?). Such a strange experience seeing all the parents with their kids / dogs at the playground (shade covered no less) just before dark as that is the only time of day they should really be let outside.
I find snow and slightly colder temperatures easy enough to exist in by simply adding the necessary layer of clothing to remain a comfortable temperature. But in the heat you can only take off so much clothing, and it's still unbearably hot.
But I dunno, I guess anyone could eventually acclimatize to various environments.
That might be fairly close to my fave outside temperature for existing (as opposed to like lounging by the pool).

There were several days the low in the morning was at or below freezing. Plenty cold if you ask me.
My wife asked for a dual-zone heated blanket this winter. I'm pretty sure I used it more than she did over the last 4 months. I'm not sure if there will be any more days this season it gets used. Just a matter of time before the AC goes on mostly permanent until Nov.
The main thing is to let your blood thicken or thin out. It typically takes a year. My guess is that even GG is not spending as much time outdoors in the winter as he is in the summer

Yes it's quite a puppy parade when the sun dips behind the buildings. Being outside is tolerable in the shade.

I recall it's a chore to put on all of those big heavy coats.
58f outside and an open bedroom window and a down comforter is ideal
