I'm glad I have a pension. Since my job is easy, I may never retire.

We know Mr baseball is paying attention.

I am retired (sorta) and I have no pension. Your job is the kind I would like to retire to 😀 But as a trader the market gives my life structure (ie something to do). I don't stare at the screen all day anymore and have the freedom to say screw it at any point and take trips whenever I want to. But staying involved is fun and gives me purpose. I'm too young (ha!) and aware to just sit around all day doing nothing.

The Tigers played a final day doubleheader. The pennant wasn't decided until the Tigers' Dick McCauliffe ground into a game two ending double play against the Angels while the Red Sox sat in their clubhouse listening on AM radio. At age 8, that was the summer I became a sports fan. I owe much to the 1967 Boston Red Sox.

That was the year Yaz won the triple crown. If I remember right my White Sox were right there and had a doubleheader to end the season and just didn't get it done :(

I feel obligated to point out that:

  • 1. Watching baseball and drinking beer is not nothing
  • 2. It's Friday

Amen! Also I had a few pesos on your Rockies today (+1.5 runs) so that worked out more for me than you. But White Sox and Rockies fans have a long stretch in front of them this year I am guessing.

Spring blossom is nice. Not the sort of thing one notices in youth.

In 1966 the Red Sox finished ninth out of ten teams. In '67 they won the pennant. So even though it's not last to first, it was an accomplishment.

The Sox won on the last day of the season with the Tigers and Twins one game behind and the White Sox three.

They would have been a good bet to win. I think they had the best record in the league after the All Star break in '66.

And then, and then, in that murderous year of 1967, they met Mr Bob Gibson.

I'm a pretty casual fan, so was asking people who follow more closely. Magic 8 ball says Rockies gonna suck.

I don't watch the news. I don't have a TV. I don't have cable. But I'm in this weird situation for a coupla weeks where I have cable with all the crazy cable news channels, so I have to ask a simple y/n question: is the US planning to invade Greenland?

just more Trump nonsense

It will be an invasion of Love of that Autonomous territory.

This last month of the semester is mentally exhausting. Students who I've rarely seen ask for more time to complete all the work they haven't done all semester. I feel bad for them because I was that student at one time.

I get students who never have appeared in class even once emailing me and asking what they need to do to pass. Um...come to ****i*g class, dude.

I tell them to paint my house.

It's like one third of humanity is blessed with the ability to get everything done on time, and the other two thirds is congenitally lazy.

Not sure I'd say lazy (though that is a large percent of the problem).

Seems like lots of people don't have much ability to be organized. i.e., understand the necessary order of events, move from one step to the next, be able to adapt when something comes up along the way. It's as if every step along the way is a whole new, unconsidered problem.

I agree, it probably only seems less like 'laziness', though I am sure there is also that element in some instances, it's more akin to derivation of the 'scattered lifestyle'.

Humanities 'attention span' seems hopeless fractured by modernism... and all the kings horse and all the kings men will never be able to put it all back together again.

speaking of spring time and attention span... It takes great effort and attention to weekly hydrate and annually re-pot 30+ Orchids on an ongoing basis.

Today's the day.

I know a lot of people like this. They are sucessful and intelligent but are always late, futzing around with something and generally ill prepared. The main thing the Navy drilled into me "attention to detail" and look 5 steps ahead and be prepared for any variation. This helped me greatly in my later trading career. Cross every T and dot every i in even the most mundane situation and always be prepared to defend your actions. Avoid and anticipate the problems before they arrive.

Most people just aren't wired this way or have never been in situations (ie military) where it is demanded to prioritize this way.

I think I need to start Toy Collecting again...

Those are pretty funny toys. Nice collection.

Pretty sure I have dated all these women but I need one with a job

I've been training. For what you may ask? Tommorrow I am going to feast around noon and then embark on an epic journey. I am planning on doing a 72 hour water fast. Why? Why not! I have been doing keto pretty seriously for the past few months. Everything I read/watch claims these kinds of fasts are very beneficial. We'll see 😀 Anyway I have done 5 24 hour fasts this week in preparation. The 24's have gotten pretty easy. I am certain a 72 will be very uncomfortable. I have flavored electrolyte powder for my water which is recommended.

So tomorrow I feast at noon and don't eat again until noon on Tuesday. The first day will be fine, the second day will likely suck balls and the third day? The third day I am guessing will be easier since I will be used to hunger. I will definitely do it. But I see it playing out 2 possible ways. One, I am glad I did it and will never do it again. Or Two, this was very beneficial and awesome and I will do it again next month!

Has anyone ever played around with fasting? I am pretty much sold on intermiitent fasting of 18-24 hours per day.

Thats what I do... i try for 18-20 hours daily. I've done 24, but that's it for me. I would like to do a 48 but haven't done so yet.
I.F. is the way to go for 45 plus age category.

Yeah, I have been doing 18-20 for the past few weeks but decided I wanted to try a long fast so I did a bunch of 24's this week and decided it would be worth trying a 72. I am certain it will be uncomfortable.

mrbaseball, good for you. I encourage you on this endeavor very much. Prayer and fasting go together. You will get so much more out of your fast if you pray.

The second day is the hardest. You should be too invested and to close to finishing to quit on the last day. Don't be surprised if you have trouble sleeping after the first night, and your body will ache bad.

Be careful when you break a long fast. Do some research and choose the right foods and drinks and amounts somewhat carefully.
