58f is ****ing freezing. As a top temperature that would be one of the coldest days in Winter here
You guys have all got Stockholm Syndrome. It’s touching in a way that you all believe you’re happy with 6-7 months of grim dark cold weather.
You’re brave and I’m proud of you all
Apart from the people in Canada. You get what you deserve

"Get it in bad and get there" is tried and true strategy.
I wanted to go play again yesterday, but after a week of travel, Uncle Skip's back rebelled at the thought of sitting for 6 hours at a card table.
I am with feely.
Yet I have lived in winter states for my entire life… and only with mountains for 5 of those years. Flatland cold is nut low
I appreciate nice weather just fine without torturing myself for 6 months out of the year. **** the cold. Snow is good for skiing and postcards. That's it. Hard stop.

These. Spent the first half (or so, we'll see) of my life in the midwest. Miserable winters; depressing darkness along with the humid, bone-chilling cold. I hoinestly felt as if the winters were killing me.
I find both extremes pretty awful, though the swampy summers in the southeast may be worse than the midwest winters. The worst part about living in the midwest though, was that the summers are also pretty hot and humid, though not on southeast levels.
It's a shame, because weather aside I really like the mid-sized cities in the midwest.
Growing up on the lake as a kid, in the winter the ideal temperature was about -10 C (= 14 F). Rink would be nice and solid at that temperature and if you worked up a sweat enough with the skating you could sometimes get away without wearing a jacket. But anything at like -32 C (= -26 F) when they stopped running the school buses / closed the schools was far too cold to get outside, even with the day off. Thankfully it only got that cold a few times a year.
Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day at 8 C (= 46 F). Got in two dog walks, a bicycle ride and a bunch of yard chores. I would snap take that temperature over 30 C (= 86 F)... with the sole exception of having a beach / swimming day. Overall, I think the temperatures here are mostly moderate enough to be fairly ideal... although I'll admit it rains too much here for my liking.
I'm with G in that both extremes suck... although I think everyone's idea of where the extreme window sits might be a bit different.

been in pac nw last few months and because i met someone i think i'm sadly here to stay in this hellhole of a climate for some time to come - it rains like every day and everyone is just full of copium talking about "yeah but we'll have some sunbreaks throughout the day" and "oh just wait until summer when the weather is nice"
By the beach in Sydney we probably only get 20 days a year over 90
and maybe 5 days on average over 100 so the really hot weather isn’t too oppressive. February can be quite humid but it is rarely if ever ‘Florida humid’
I love all the seasons tbh and obvs Summer is ossum but Spring and Autumn are the nuts. Here we are entering mid Autumn
Plus you get Dem Cowboyz
Somewhere along my travels to Wichita and back, I saw a sign with "Dak" on it. Failed to look further into it.
They're right, though, rick. When the sun does bother to come out in Seattle, it's pretty great--mid 70s, spectacular lush green scenery. Those four weeks/year don't make up for the rest of it though.

If you guys get serious you could see about moving where you want with her.
The key to success for that is making the gf think it was HER idea to consider moving there.
that looks ****ing fantastic Garick.
When I bink the lotto and want a jeweled chess crown to wear for my international competitions I'm going to request your quite excellent services!
Gonna have to make Skippy's pimp cup first.
