It seems like there's a lot of conflict and unhappiness in the world these days. It gets me down. One of the few things
Count your blessings.
I'm currently being swarmed by blue-tailed skinks or lizards. My outdoor cat looks at them about like your cat is doing. I doubt they realize he holds the power of life or death over them.
OTOH one of my (inside) dogs goes completely berserk when he sees one--which is far too often for my comfort. He's not much of a killer of small critters, but he is one helluva chaser!
See, now, when I read mark's post, the text was at the bottom of the browser; I didn't see the photo yet.
At first I misread the sentence. That, and the fact I'd never heard of an "anole" made me nervous and curious to scroll down.
Invasive Species:
It's been hot in Vegas, of course, so I set up the hose to sprinkle through the slats of a chair, and Howard goes back and forth underneath it like a car wash.
In this pic, he's also dunking his butt drinker in the shallow for a butt drink.
I didn't have Googling "Can a tortoise drink through their butts?" on my bingo card today.

I would not have the balls to put my cat and turtle together like that. My cat is a full-time predator and my turtle is not as big or awesome as Howard. Howard carries a rep, and Cooper is likely aware.
lol Howard could take Cooper's head off with one snap, if he wanted to.
In that case I hope Howard doesn't start running with a bad crowd!
Came back from traveling a bit early. My dog started limping somewhere between 24/48 hours ago. Doesn't seem to be in pain. Nothing obvious with regards to the bottom of his paw. Nothing with his nails. No obvious signs when testing bone discomfort.
Current plan is to call the vet in the morning before the obviously pricey vet specialist. Any reason to go before the regular vet gets back to me tomorrow?
I would probably keep the movement to a minimum and wait
If you can't find any tenderness anywhere on his leg or foot, I would wait.
IANAV, but my dogs have limped temporarily for reasons I have never figured out. One of my current dogs would not put one of his back legs down when outside for a couple of days. However, he walked completely normally inside. Weird.

Knowing my dog, this is almost always a bad scrape on the paw pad, but there is nothing. Nothing obvious on his paw and no bone tenderness leads me directly to something more serious. I was an athlete, but I admit I don't know how to test an ACL on a dog.
A friend of a friend who is a vet said to ask about Lyme's.
And I don't think I say it often enough, but thanks for any advice and concern.
Domino and Honey aren't swimmers, but we couldn't keep step dog Maverick out of the pool this weekend. He loved his first trip on the boat at the lake, too, but I don't have photos yet. I bought him one of those doggie water ramps to help get him into the pontoon -- he weighs 80 lb.

TPLO surgery involves bone shaving, metal plates, screws, and a crap ton of patience as you guide them with a sling on their belly to take a simple poop in the snow
what i saw both times was a rather pronounced limp along with quite a bit of swelling around the knee

My dog did favor his front leg right before I left. It lasted for 2 days tops. It does line up with some Lyme's symptoms, but I'm not sure with most.
He does seem to be doing better today so hopefully it's a false alarm.
And I always thought the ACL was the CCL in dogs. I appreciate the information and will look into it.
