It seems like there's a lot of conflict and unhappiness in the world these days. It gets me down. One of the few things
Nice work!
• Gracie Mae arrived at Ruff Start Rescue with severely matted fur, overgrown nails, and no recent medical records
• The rescue team shaved off a pound of matted fur, revealing a healthy, social, and gentle dog underneath
• After fostering, Gracie Mae found a loving forever home where she enjoys snuggling next to her family on the couch

I'm not sure if she just was never let out of her crate or what, but my dog's nails had grown all the way around and into the bottom of her paws when we got her from the pound. Not breaking the skin, but touching.
glad Gracie Mae found a loving family
I used to work at a vet clinic and a dog like that came in -- nails were in the pads :( It's just neglect. Some people just suck. On another note, thank goodness my pit-mix does his own nails!

I'm picturing him sitting at a grindstone doing his own mani-pedi.
😀
Update on this guy's saga follows this quote from several weeks back:
...As someone who has spent too much time and money at the vet the past few months with this guy chasing ghosts, I can empathize. I am now on a first name basis with everyone at the vets'. I walked out Tuesday carrying him because he hadn't been able to walk and the vet said she had done all she could do but would contact the state's vet school to see if they would recommend a
Since the above post he has been re-tested for Cushing's at my request. Results were slightly out of normal range, but ultrasound exam of kidneys and adrenal glands was, of course, normal.
His vet finally talked to the internal medicine guy at the vet school. He recommended checking his thyroid and told her if it was normal that she was out of options for her clinic and he would need to be referred for CTs, MRIs, etc.
Of course his thyroid results were normal like all of his other tests. The vet's best guess is a tumor on or near his pituitary. I'm not about to put him through chemo, radiation, or surgery so there is no point in pursuing further testing.
I guess he is essentially on home hospice. The B12 injections are (for some strange reason) managing the worst of his symptoms now that the vet has given a standing order for up to two per week. I've also added oral B12 so he may be able to limp along on one shot per week--maybe less frequently than that. We'll see.
He's eating twice as much as my other dog who weighs almost twice as much, but he's still not gaining back the weight he has lost. His confusion seems to be better managed with the additional B12, but his energy level is lower and he has some muscle weakness. He's finally decided to make use of the pee pad in his kennel at night, so that's a huge burden off me as I can sleep through the night now.
We'll plod along as long as he's eating and not in any obvious pain, discomfort, or prolonged confusion.
You're a great dad Tom!
no doubt your k9 friend will receive the best of attention until no longer required
hang on to ma mes
Poor Parker.
I hope the sadist compensated you adequately with corned beef and beer for the public humiliation.
Please tell me you don't have to wear that fashion disaster for three full days ...
yesterday was your last chance to start brining corned beef to any degree of success
my only guess is Parker is now hoping to tongue froth every fresh guiness pint he comes across
I love Parker.
One eye goes one way, and the other eye goes the other way. "What do you want from me?"
Spoiler
The continuing saga of Titus: The B12 pills daily seem to be doing the trick. He hasn't had a B12 shot in over a week and has shown few signs of ataxia and confusion. The one day he did, I gave him an extra pill and poof!
The only out-of-the-usual problems he has now are peeing every few hours and not regaining the weight he lost. I'm impressed! He's taking more (and more expensive) meds than I am. Three pills a day to reduce his peeing frequency, one B12 pill a day, and powdered pancreatic enzymes on his food. Dealing with his peeing is annoying and inconvenient, but I'm pretty happy with where he is overall. He looks like a malnourished bag of bones so I'm still concerned with that.
Don't get any in your eye!

to you, ti, to us
wishing all the best of b12ing
without extra spritz
so much ♥
Did you bathe her in the bed of your truck?!?!?
I'll bet you $50 you can't do all of that to my two by yourself. And I'll even bring them to you 😃
eta: nm. I guess clipping in your truck is pretty smart. She just looked like she was wet so I was confused until I re-read your post.
No bath yet! $50 to trim, bathe, and clip nails on 2 dogs?! Deal!
Bring 'em the last week in May, then you can take Lucy home with you while I'm in Alaska.

Assuming I survived the trip there, I'd be suicidal before I hit Bossier on the return with three of them in the car!
You obviously haven't taken Lucy to a groomer recently. $50 is less than I would have to pay for one of mine. Of course mine may both be on some "price to discourage repeat business" list.
You missed the sarcasm font
