Survivor: GENERAL THREAD

Have you tried the UK version? Host is great and she plays it seriously with very little camp. Also regular folks competing instead of pseudo-celebrities, which I always thought was the charm of Survivor.

UK season 1 is mostly people crying and saying "I'm a faithful", but season 2 is great, with some good gameplay on both the traitor and faithful sides and some entertaining characters. Definitely my fave so far (having watched all the English-speaking seasons).

agreed. traitors is absolute trash on basically every level. i dont know how people like it

One of my big issues is for the producers/traitors to convert a faithful way late in the game. Also, there seems to be a bit of production game manipulation.

The series is entertainment pretending to be a game. And it IS entertaining!

USA Traitors is by far the worst out of all the English Language versions i've seen (UK, Au, USA, Canada)

Having a bunch of people that already know each other completely breaks the game which is already pretty broken to begin with.

Survivor Australia v the World starts on Sunday

I'm 1/2 way through the last season. I'm always impressed how the Australian version just crushes the USA version.

Better challenges
Better twists
Better characters
Better drama

Only complaint may be that it feels like maybe more production interference during the game. i.e. they don't let things get too one-sided.

At this point if you aren't watching Australian Survivor, it's basically the equivalent of not watching the Champions League if you are a soccer fan.

It's way better with newbie players who aren't 'famous'. The reality stars on the US version just treat the show as a means to get more followers on insta so of course they are just gonna blow up their games for airtime. I think the US is finally doing a newbie version for 2026.

I think the 49 people have slightly more chance that you think if they get to the end with people like Jonathan, Joe, Tiffany, Angelina who aren't really seen as great players and people like Steph an Ozzy who are awful people IRL. I suspect both of them will be better players than all those I mentioned. I also don't think Coach is a realistic contender anymore, he's gonna blow up his game trying to be a cult leader. That won't fly in the new era.

49 players will be interesting since they’ll know each other but no one else will have seen them play. I always enjoyed when they used to do players on back to back seasons.

I agree I do think at least one of the 49 players will go fairly deep in the season, however they are also such a default first boot candidate for a safe vote too.

My Coach at number 1 logic is I understand he does have quite a few 'new era' connections outside of the show and will potentially lean into the reliable elder statesman role. He's also never been overly strategic and is strong enough in team challenges so there's not too much value in targeting him in early.

I also think the jury might be looking for a 'legend of the game' to represent their season if one does get to the end
