What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

respect the hell out of your game ec
but no such thing as a ho-hum 75 in my world

37 (par 35). 1 birdie, no double bogeys. Not even slightly mad about bogeying the last two holes, this was prettay good for Tuesday night golf. Weird fact, no chips or pitches. I hit a full 52 into one hole, nothing shorter. Was on a couple fringes, but just by a couple inches where putting was a no brainer.

Highlight was standing on a green waiting for people to putt and watching a fishing eagle do a quick circle and dive into a pond behind the green - it dove right into the middle of a group of egrets, nabbed a fish and kept going. The egrets were not fazed in the slightest.

we have all experienced some sort of glory shot on 18 that makes us not want to quit until after the round next week

but playing a glory round might just keep a poor soul coming back well past the afterlife in attempt to relive the experience

congrats booker on you solidifcation of a lifelong existential addiction

It only rains during our Wednesday leagues these days. I don't play well in the rain. 56, two bogeys and two snowmen.

TremenousSlouch you're still my hero.

played in a 'no gimmick' scramble today and my cart parnter rocked these:

how'd we do? dead effin' last with $40 worth of gift certificate to a putt putt bar as consolation.

winning team was -13 with no eagles
we were +3 with two birdies

a woman who has played only one other round in her life (this event last year) lips out a 20 foot downhill slider for bird on the first hole and is quickly promoted to leadoff putter.
unfortunately she finishs the day burning at least two other edges on longer bombs but never made one. really wanted to find a valid reason to celebrate for her.

our host and team captain with the retro balls above was in a similar position and has since started taking golftec lessons.
he probably had a solid shot of each type that we used during, but the majority were wayward and he did not possess any sort of greenside touch attribute.

our team 'hoss' probably plays off 13 and bears a striking resemblance to High Fidelity Tim Robbins in both appearance and attitude

by my estimate he played six strokes over his potential, but was a good shepherd for the other two

and then there was me, progressively gettin' better
my quick guesstimate is somewhere between 87-92 with my own ball on that 6300 yd course

70 Tuesday

82 Thursday

Same course, same conditions.

Golf.

Yeah, but did you have fun? That's the only thing, and I mean the ONLY thing that matters when playing a scramble.

absolutely
even though we teed off at 7:45am and none of us had anything remotely alcoholic

Par 72 - 70.3/122 - 6359 yards
36/38 - 74

3 birdies, 5 bogeys including one from 60 yards in the middle of the fairway and another from a rushed/lazy 3 putt on 18. It could've been real low. I managed to get Dominic out today and for not playing in over a year he sure got around the course pretty well. It was a great time and we'll certainly play together again on my future trips to Las Vegas.

Great time! EC is a good golfer. He doesn't get into trouble, he hits it straight, and he hits greens. You score well when you do that.

I had an 86 with some nice shots and even a birdie. But my game is still too rusty. Had too many big scores on some holes. But it was fun. Got to get playing again!

sad lack of photographic evidence

41-42-83. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 70.2/134/6110.

Nothing great. Mostly 3w off the tee, but did have good drivers on 1 and 18. Didn't hit a lot of greens and didn't convert a lot of putts though I did have good pace and it was a fairly comfortable putting day.

0 birdies, 0 double bogeys. I didn't do anything consistently well today. A few nice up and down par saves and a 25' putt to save bogey were the highlights. After a couple of long nights in Vegas Thursday and Friday night, then the 4+ hour drive home yesterday, I was completely out of energy. Can you still be hungover 30 hours later? Add in it being a very hot and humid(for AZ, anyway) day and I was out of sorts from the beginning. I managed to avoid big numbers and didn't have any penalties or lost balls so the scorecard looks a lot better than the actual golf looked. Some days it's easy, on others it's a grind. Today was the latter. Onto the next one!

42 (par 36). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Just played nine today. Not sharp.

Did some traveling and played some different courses.

University Ridge (U of Wisconsin course) was a big disappointment. I played it as an undergrad when it first opened over 30 years ago and wanted to play it again. Worst greens I've played all year, and I'm often on municipal courses. And easily the most expensive at $126. I did manage to have 2 3-putt pars during the round. Never done that before.

Playing new courses has ballooned my handicap to 10.0 from a low of 9.5.

Coming into the year I wanted to break 40 at least 3 times, break 80 at least once and get my handicap below 10. All have been met. I'm content.

appreciate another Easy how to Biggly improve at golf update
suggest setting another couple of short-term goals while your game still has momentum this season

41 (par 36). 1 birdie, 1 triple bogey.

Tuesday night golf, featuring a few baaaaaad shots. But above average putting made for an acceptable score.

There's still a quarter of the year left. Break 40 two more times and 80 again. Grind grind grind

Unfortunately my employment is seasonal, and work is hot and heavy right now making golfing every day an impossibility. I'm still going to golf as much as I can, but that amount will unfortunately decrease significantly and with decreased play comes rust.

I know the strokes are going to come off much more difficultly now that I'm not a total hack. I intend to focus a great deal on my chipping from 50 yards in and not worry too much about my scores. I play with a guy who is incredible at getting it to within 5 feet from just about anywhere. It has to save him 3-4 shots per round. I intend to pick his brain and attempt to apply what I learn throughout the rest of the season. I've played about 70 rounds thus far. I'm assuming I'll get in about 15 more.
