ICE raided a Georgia Huyndai-LG plant and arrested around 460 people, 2/3 of which koreans. Purportedly most of them have legal working visas so it's unclear why this happened.
My twitter feed is exploding against this (on the basis that the company claims that they had valid visas are true)

How do you think it's going to hurt Trump? Whether or not he wanted it to happen, and whether or not anyone is fired over it, I don't think will result in anything, and his administration has done many worse things this year. His base is not going to care about this.

I can't imagine that this single incident is going to meaningfully impact any national trends in the next 14 months. It takes longer than that to get new manufacturing capability.
And if this results in citizens taking the jobs that Koreans vacate, that will help the employment numbers in the short term.
IMO, the long term results of anything done right now (by either side) matter very little. If the Republicans win the 2026 elections, it's game over for US democracy, and for anyone even knowing how the economy is doing.
As things are, the administration is likely to say (and provide numbers showing) that the economy is going amazingly, even if it's obvious to anyone with a clue that inflation and unemployment have both gone up.
And the cult is going to believe them even if they've just lost their jobs and are can't afford groceries.

They are investing billions to "reshore" manufacturing, following trump "nudges"/pressure that asked foreign countries with trade surpluses toward the USA to manufacture more inside the USA.
Apparently among the like 300+ korean workers, a few had only B1 VISAs which allowed "business contacts" but not actual work and a few of them managed a team for a while and that was deemed work, something like that. Most of the actual workers have full working visa though.
So even in the strictest interpretation of rules maybe a handful of those koreans were illegally working there, they arrested all of them though
as suspected, the anti-korean ICE raid wasn't a normal operation of ICE leadership, rather a stunt thought up by a clueless woman running as a republican.
she denounced large scale violations of immigration law and they fell for it so they raided. OFc ICE is still responsible because 1) when the scale is that large you shoul dhave someone capable of double checking according to the admin priorities and 2) even if you raid you don't need to arrest those on proper working visas.
But it's clear this was a ****up not an intended raid
