that people believed the vegan shaman in jan6 was maga or in any meaningful sense rightwing in any way was basically what radicalized me on that topic

This is one of the dumbest things that you insist on repeating

it would be like calling sanders right-wing because he agrees with a lot of trump tariffs

He’s a self proclaimed maga

It would be like calling the j6 vegan shaman maga because he himself says he’s maga

pornstar isn't social conservative but can be right-wing (freedom is right-wing coded). especially on the libertarian leaning right-wing side (only fan models tax evading is very right-wing).

veganism is one of the most leftist coded things that ever existed. shamanism is close to that.

There are plenty of right-wing vegans. If you can believe a tiny clump of cells has value of course you can believe a fully grown animal with individual experience, emotions, and ability to feel pain has moral value.

And yes, she could be libertarian, but the point is that in a vacuum the right would say “porn stars are a disgrace” just like gay people but welcome them in anyway because the crazy vote is maga.

anyway fact is that vax rates for measles decreasing in California before a serious outbreak and then jumping back up show how 1) this started well before the public health "experts" disaster with COVID vax mandates 2), this is fixable when people get real proof that vaccinations help their own kids (in measles case, real proof that disease is still a threat) 3) it's not about republicans. the problem would exist regardless in the same way.

so there is nothing to worry about, the problem is self-fixing, lower rates cause more outbreaks that cause higher rates and only those who don't get is suffer from it. not a matter for public intervention, it's good if people pay the price of their choices

their kids get measles and it sucks. it’s insane that it happens at all.

Luci's a rightwing extremist? Hide your litterboxes 😀

These damn maga low IQ truthers in check notes California just react to incentives

Uhhhhh.....yes? California has more Trump supporters than any other state.

wtf are you talking about? don't you just divide the population by the number of states???

lol ****ing MAGATs. yeah...California is large....idiots.

California actually has an apolitical "hippy" anti-vax movement that has been around before vaccination even became a partisan issue.

My wife has a few friends in her social circle that went this route to varying degrees, and none of them are conservative/Republican.

On top of this, there is some percentage of recent immigrants from South/Central America without vaccinations.

and again, the famous 2010 trump antivax campaign resurfaces

You see a lot of this in Humboldt County. It's good mix of anti gov, anti-pesticide, processed foods, homesteading type living, environmentalist types. I probably get a long more with those people than most - and half the time is gardening talk.

A judge drops terrorism charges against Luigi Mangione

A judge drops terrorism charges against Luigi Mangione

He is still charged with second degree murder at the state level, and first degree murder at the federal level. If I was him, I dont think I would be celebrating anything.

I can’t remember now. Did he have a manifesto or state what he was trying to incite?

he had a manifesto

Luigi definitely had some things right. It’s the rich oligarchy versus everyone else.

Luigi definitely had some things right. It’s the rich oligarchy versus everyone else.

Sure so killing one of the them to scare the others (and/or push other people to do the same and/or try to make them "behave better") is terrorism 101.

If instead Mangione had killed the CEO of the insurance company that had (say) denied lifesaving coverage (or what he thought would have been life saving coverage) to a family member than then died, then the same assassination, even if in some sense still politically motivated, might have been considered not terrorism because of the personal issues.

But killing someone who did you nothing, just as a "member of a class" you hate for political reasons, is straightforward terrorism.

Luciom, China is a huge nation with a wide difference in appearance from north to south.

On that subject you still didn’t address the contradiction that Sinner, a tall, thin, pale, ginger haired Italian creates for your views about national appearances.

Btw the most famous italian rapper (Fedez) just wrote a song that defines Sinner "an italian thoroughbred with the accent Hitler had" just to clarify that the "italianity" and ethnicity of people from that area is still controversial and discussed nationally *a century after we took that portion of land as italian territory*

I seriously don’t care. You aren’t going to make me feel bad for the 1%.

You keep on defending those poor CEOs while advocating for the murder of homeless people, Luciom. Fight that good fight.

by whatthejish

I seriously don’t care. You aren’t going to make me feel bad for the 1%.

You should feel bad for the 99%, because the 1% starting to fear for their lives can only translate into much more oppression.

When you think there is a very powerful enemy that is mistreating you and the members of your groups with a tight grip, any half-assed attempt to remove that enemy is going to make things worse for you and your group.

You either go fully allin as a group, or you shouldn't even try

This is a thing?

Abuser mentality. Don’t care.

I understand why you consider it terrorism, but it doesn't seem like it was done for political reasons.
Insurance company procedures don't have anything to do with politics unless the rules are imposed by the government, and that would be the decision of politicians, not insurance executives.

Look the NYS definition which i reported doesn't require it to be political in the sense you use here.

If you do violence with the intent of pressuring other people into changing their behaviour through threats and intimidation that's terrorism.

I mean killing obese people because they are obese to have obese people live in fear would be terrorism as well.

Mangione killed Thompson and he had bullets with "Delay, Deny, Depose" written on them ok? that's a very clear example of intent to punish insurance top management for their choice of restricting treatments in various ways

I actually think you are right Luci and I’m baffled as to how the judge sees this case differently. I will say that it will make it easier for him to be convicted if they don’t talk so much about the political motivation. Sadly many stupid people think what he did was based and it only takes one to slither their way onto the jury.

I mean the democrat DA agreed with us as well.

And it's the same DA democrats used to indict and convict Trump (yes, it's Bragg) of the famous "34 counts of felony".
