You've got 3 months to Xmas, that should be plenty of time since you're not 9 anymore.

can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Wonderful Christmastime is not great, but it's stii far better than Last Christmas.

We can agree to disagree.

Jane Goodall 91

Met her at a conference in Boston a couple years ago that I was directing and switching the cameras for the screens and stream.

major advances in our existance as humans are most often propelled by individuals who zoom their entire life focus with relentless energy toward understanding particular topics

Jane Goodall was one of them

time to lock down the nominative determinism thread

in a previous life i worked on growth strategies for tech startups

a big part of that was finding ways to get ourselves in the news cycle - that process, seeing how the sausage is made, seeing how vast majority of news reports on people and products come by directly pitching your product and/or yourself to media who are searching their inbox for something to get for their next deadline - you learn very clearly that everyone you know about - all the famous billionaires etc are not famous because of the merits of their career or influence but rather famous because of their efforts to put themselves in the spotlight - for every bezos, zuck, and soros there's a thousand guys of similar wealth and influence that you've never heard of and never will

funny thing about jane is she was always adamant about not wanting the fame in all her interviews

but not a single person has ever heard of her husband who was working alongside her the entire time

that's a person who doesn't want fame - she put her face on everything and was front and center whenever possible

not saying there's anything wrong with that, but i never liked that bit of "now point the cameras directly at me while i tell you how much i hate being the focus of your coverage"

not clear if your intent was to be insightful or inciting

As with all of us she contained multitudes. She probably, correctly, assumed that her being the face of her work would help bring money to something she dearly loved. RIP to a real one.

Here's one line from my uncle's email he sent out about her. He's been a wildlife biologist his entire life, mostly working with raptors and endangered species. I guess he worked with her several times on one of his projects.

She was such a brilliant and warm woman who had an abiding love of dogs and single malt Scotch. I was immediately taken!

That's really all that needs to be said, lol.

lol

RIP Diane Keaton

Oh, no! Ace! A part of my childhood has been taken from me.

Guess I'll queue up a viewing of Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park.

Ace was my 1st "hero" in the music industry.

My uncles got me into KISS when I was a kid. I got to see them in 1978 and in their 1st retirement tour. I was also in the KISS Army for about 10yrs and I even dressed up as him for Halloween 3yrs in a row.

Sad day for me as well. I met Ace when I directed the poker action on VH1's celebrity show.

My first real concert- Kiss at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in 1979. I was just a kid and we snuck off 200 miles from home with my friend’s older brother.

I was backstage at a mega event in '99 at the MGM. The lineup featured performances by Chely Wright, LeAnn Rimes, Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Sugar Ray, Natalie Cole, KISS, Tony Bennett, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and a reunion of the Who.

The entire KISS band walked by me and every one of them exchanged hellos and pleasantries.

They showed up again after their show on the floor of the Grand Garden, still in full makeup to watch the Who perform. I was impressed by how nice and friendly they were.

The event turned out to be sponsored by a company doing a full on stock scam promoting themselves as the next best thing in streaming video.

A friend of mine was supposed to produce it but they replaced him at the last minute (after the Vegas crew already had their backstage credentials, hence my ability to crash the show) and replaced him with Woody Fraser Productions and a mostly LA crew. No idea if they ever got paid.

Are you blaming my illicit excursion for the impetus of Tipper Gore’s moronic crusade?

RIP June Lockhart of Lost in Space fame and many others, made it to 100.

RIP Donna Jean. A bit polarizing, but I loved her in the Dead.
