Can't believe you guessed hawk over river. Ervin, we've been playing this game together for years...when have you ever seen me give a clue that lazy? Of all the animals that jump, why on earth would I pick the one that lives in and around rivers if that was not ours? If I'm going for the animal connection, I'm at least gonna make sure they have something that ties them together. Frogs and hawks are nothing alike.
And zurvan, you don't just have to go along with everything ervin says. You had hand as your top pick for stroke, and then just let him pick 3 words ahead of it, including lolchest. Then you had river > hawk and didn't even try to defend it when he wanted hawk instead. Ervin is confidently wrong in this game all the time and sometimes you just have to put your foot down.
Oh and I realised as the game was going that the endgame strat I've been using in the no list thread would be confusing for a lot of players here, but I knew I couldn't change it with ervin on this team. I have been avoiding the n-1 strat when there are 2 or 3 words left because I think unlimited is superior, but I'm gonna go back to the "standard" way of doing it from now on in all threads to avoid confusion.

idk i was just so sure because you picked an animal...maybe should have given more weight to where it was located but felt strongly about it at the time
obv seems obvious to me in hindsight, like yea of course river....but i woulda felt silly if it was Hawk

I have consistently said over the years that I hate those types of connections, and I only ever use them if it's a big clue. I would never do that for a 2-ball.

I know you mentioned it, but it was still your 4th pick. I just thought it was bizarre that hand got moved so low when in my mind it was the most obvious word on the board. I actually was most worried about key being missed, but you guys guessed it first heh.

Pirates are known for being in the water and smuggler is huge hit on skyjacking so I like smuggler over pirate...less risky as the one we guess this turn I think
